I tried almost every Fender reissue lately and only the Twin Reverb sounded like it should, varm and clear with a great 'soft' and 3D quality to the sound. All the others (Bassman, Super Reverb, Deluxe Reverb, Custom Vibrolux) have a hard edged and slightly metallic treble to them that I can't live with. I'm getting a Twin Reverb!!
When I was buying my second guitar I played regular american strats, deluxe, john mayer strat, mim, all that, and I liked the classic vibe 60's squire strat better than all of them. for $370 it was such a steal.
man, that squire actually sounds great! i dont really like strat-type guitars, there too bright for my taste, and i like the low end of hollowbodies, but this sounds incredible!
Amazing sound, if didn't know that's squier guitar, I thought that original Stratocaster made in USA. Ampliefier is very qool. And remember people-Squiers are ok, they are real fender guitar not a copy-just cheaper version of fender instruments
hehe nice man, that twin is sick...had a coworker who was like sixty somthin; had TWO twins man and lived in a broom closet....always used ta joke wit em "Share tha love man, gimme one of your twins...your gonna kick it soon anyways" hed tell me ta fuck off, hed sooner take em to his grave than give em to a slacker...gotta love the old coot, he swore by those amps
sorry fer ramblin just brought back memories..gotta get me a twin man

that out of phase in between tones suck so bad...i love strat tones but those ones are horrible.sounds so cheap.strats should only have 3 positions...but great clean sound in that amp
I was fortunate enough to pick up a 40th anniversary twin reverb w/the cream colour vinyl cloth. One of a 100. Saw it brand new for somethin like $1600, it sat in the store for a year till someone who worked there bought it, played it once then put it in the corner. Then he apparently got divorced and needed money and I bought it for $1000, barely touched. It's mint, my 3rd ever owned and I'll never sell it like the others. Always keep your twin, you will kick yourself if you get rid of it!
@diamondbackseye I have the same anniversary Twin Reverb amp. Ah, yes, the cream colour is beautiful and, for me, it was love at first sight. Admittedly, I love Fender amps. But the Twin Reverb is so beautiful in every way. I couldn't afford it, so, I traded a 1970 Gibson 335 for it, I wanted it so bad. I've never regretted the trade. Gibsons of the '70's, though still putting out a lovely tone, feel cheap. Not like guitars made today. I'll never part with the amp.
Hmmm not the best idea, I know "the twin" has a switchable output but to me it doesnt serve a good point, tube amps sound great when the speakers distorting and the output section is working hard, each to their own though.
That's all I needed to know, I've heard on 25watt it doesn't sound that sparkle they used to sound too. Now a very annoying question: IS the Twin-Reverb (85w) suitable for Home-use? (My neighbours already heard the loudness of my Leslie 860)
No way in hell is a Twin Reverb suitable for home use, its a clean machine and is built for headroom but at low columes it doesnt "breathe" well, like most Blackface amps, Id possibly look into a Super Reverb? still loud but still a big amp with big tone too. Id suggest a blues or pro JNR but theyre "small" sounding amps and dont do great clean.
Well the main thing is: I will use it for (fender)rhodes so i'm searching for a clean amp with 12" speakers, because the lows are better then. And the Super Reverb is 4x10. How about a Roland JC-120 some say it sounds clinical and filters the musicality out...
Well personally, I dont think the JC-120 is anything special, its a good SS amp but it wont give you true tube tone if thats what your after,
Just remember that a 10" speaker is just as capable of producing as much bass as a 12" spkr, its how theyre voiced that counts, 10's have a faster response than 15's so most players like to go inbetween and use 12" spkrs
open vs closed back cabs make a huge difference in bass response, just a thought.
why wouldn't you recommend the hot rod deluxe or deville 4x10 in this case? Those amps sound awesome at moderate volume (if that's what you're looking for)

if you want an amp like that with a similar tone with leo fenders brand on it,try a music man 212 rd 130.made by leo,and very collectible at half the price.
Picked em up from a few different players over the years, Its just mainly bluesy stuff with some odd notes thrown in to try and keep away from being predictable,
Ive been listening to Gary Moore lately and think Ive been subliminally picking up some of that type of stuff.
Just the amp man.
