The Euros in this race were phenomenal, but Johar has never been given his due. He was a very good, winning the Oak Tree Derby and Hollywood Derby (grade1) at age 3, and started 2003 winning the San Marcos. He was then sidelined before running a good 3rd behind Storming Home in the grade 1 Oak Tree Invitational when he was taken out of his game being placed on the lead. He had a strong closing kick and a nack for winning photos.
yes, and lets not forget he beat the tin man and grammerian in the san marcos early in the year right no the wire. i told me dad and his friend that johar would be a force to be reckoned with after seening his maiden win.
even though i had both hc and johar in trifecta, the exacta, and the dd with pleasanly perfect, for money purposes, johar won the race....lol. nah, seriously.. i caught high chap the year before in ap. and he should have stayed in the us, because he was actually a better horse on left handed tracks... i think he was undefeated. however, johar was just a horse for the corse and solis knew him and that race track way to well. the best closing rider in the game today.
That horse just does not stop going does he? jesus christ. I saw him before the irish Champion stakes that he won, i've never seen a more relaxed horse, never gave any trouble. He also won the champion stakes after coming back from quite a bad injury, he only had a light race before that (g2) and then he beat ALL of the top horses in europe in the Irish champ stakes. even vintage tipple who faded was a G1 winner

you can when the bc is @ santa anita. as dominant as the euro horses have been, HC was the only euro based hores to win.
1986 Manila
1993 Kotashaan
2003 Johar (DH)
HOWEVER, High Chaparral was built for american racing because he NEVER lost on left-handed tracks.
