Depends really, if your getting the Lunix OS you would most likely need to get an emulator or something to run windows games on it. But saying that, the hardware is quite weak for gaming so I very much doubt it would even play WoW lol. Dialbo II or old games like the orginial Half-Life would be ok though I think... and thats not a bad thing :). Netbooks generally aren't built for gaming, so if your looking for a gaming laptop I'd get a much bigger one!

I don't need a drive. I took the bugger off my Dell D520. It eats the battery and weights more. You can use USB Flash Memory. I also took out the speakers and use Sennheiser HD 650 as speakers lol

I don't recommend you try installing XP on this model. The Aspire One units running linux aren't built to run XP. Many people have already tried and the performance is not so great.

I am trying to decide if I should purchase the Acer Aspire with the 8GB SSD + 8GB SD card or 160g hard drive? How does that 8GB work. People are saying it is really slow and not much space for anything.

i got the 8gb ssd version and stuck two 16gb sd cards in it to expand the storage and stuck another 1gig of ram in it, installed xp and it's fkn awesome.

I love my Acer Aspire One 3G! I bought mine for $99 with the RadioShack/AT&T offer. It's great and a lot more better looking than the Eee PC. Should I also mention that it's really quiet...not like the other netbooks. The only thing I'm having a problem with is finding the right size sleeve to put it in. It's gorgeous and I want to prevent it from being scratched. Does anyone out there know of a site/place that might have a case that would fit the Aspire One?

Nice little laptop, however the Chinese Linpus Linux is quite broken and buggy. Fedora 10 Linux runs just great on these, and is a definite improvement.

ok so iam debating whether to get the aoa 110 with the ssd or the 150 with the 120 gb obviously i get the more memory thing but with the ssd it should bring out more in the computer since there is no disk drive to take time and read. all iam looking for is all around performance and also if someone can describe the pros and cons of windows and linux for what os to get the acer with that would be great. security wise, spyware and other stuff does it effect ether 110 or 150? please reply to this

pues chavos, la AAO algunas traen 160gb de disco duro y 1 gb de ram, windows XP tiene una portabilidad muy buena, lo unico malo es ke trae un PROBLEMA CON LA BIOS, necesitas flashear la maquina. El problema consiste en ke se apaga la maquina y la pantalla se keda en negro. Si la mandas a el centro de atencion de ACER te diran que ese problema no lo cubre la grantia,despues claro de un TRATO HORRIBLE. Te lo digo por experiencia la mia tenia solo mes1 1/2 y le ocurrio eso.

Geez, it's not an issue... You don't need one after all, you can do everything via USB flash or by mounting virtual CDs. These little fun toys are meant to be PORTABLE an to suit the basic internet needs on the go.

My uncle who works in NSD Dubai and specializes in laptop assembly actually prefers the Acer Aspire One (Atom) over the ASUS EEE Pc. Here in the Philippines, for almost the same price, I could get an ACER notebook w/ 160 GB HDISK compared to an ASUS EEE w/ 8 GB SSD. I also like the hinge of the ACER. It looks and feels tougher. I'll research more about the details...

I have the white one. I bought it from Wal-Mart for $298 got it home and started looking at it when I noticed the specs were wrong on the box. The box says 120 gig hard drive when I looked at the hard drive space it showed 155 gig?? COOL.

The only bad thing is the sound is kinda weak. but otherwise a very capable netbook

See 3:10 in the video. It has 802.11b/g Wireless LAN, which is indeed the wifi. It also has an ethernet port if you wish to have the laptop wired into a modem or such for the internet.

no, microsoft doesn't allow it. They don't want to sell Windows XP anymore, but its ideal for these netbooks. So they demand that netbooks don't have a disc drive.

However, if you get Windows XP on it, you have a USB port in the side where you can plug in an external CD drive. Which is what i'll be doing if i get one of these. And once i have my programs on i'll just unplug it and go :D

I saw this at Walmart today, and it looks like a really really good deal. It's super light, has a 120GB HDD, Intel Atom 1.6GHz processor, 802.11b/g wifi, ethernet, 1GB Ram & Windows XP Home pre-installed. All for $348.00 USD. I use Linux occasionally, but I'd rather have XP on this machine. So my question goes out to people who use XP on this laptop; is it reasonably fast? I don't know how good those atom processors are also what's the average battery life? Thanks to those who answer in advance.

To answer your question, it runs reasonably well. I just bought mine from Walmart today as well. It's amazingly small and portable. Runs XP smoothly. The only bottleneck on this machine is the processor. I have a duo core labtop and you can tell the difference in speed. Awesome buy for light duty work though.

i would say the only downside to this netbook is the fact that it doesnt have a disc drive so i have to carry around a thumb drive if i need to transfer files from my computer.

battery life... hmmm well with the original battery that it comes with you only have at most 3hours but you cn purchase a six cell battery and have up to 6.5hours

You can play browser based flash and java games perfectly on Linux. And for games that you install such as WoW that are normally for Linux you can get some of them to run using a program called Wine. And Linux is a lot faster. I love Linux.
