  • U don't have to destroy your mouse to make it work... Just rub it with a sponge slightly wet with water and very mild detergent, like this one you wash your hands (liquid soap). Rub carefully and persistently with medium preasure. Then wipe it with a soft cloth. Let dry and then is like when you bought it... You can also try washing you hands before you grab the mouse. I mean each time...

  • @me1not1a1number After I performed the steps in this video, I never had to wipe it down religiously with rubbing alcohol like before. I am truly satisfied with my repair and I don't mind the slightly scuffed look, which by the way faded almost completely away after a few months.

I guess it depends on how long you have been dealing with the problem and how much you use your PC. I work from home and work a lot, so wiping down the mouse all the time became a little annoying.

  • @homeaddition it's ok if you find this solution proper. You shouldn't have used alcohol from the beggining, only soap. Anyway, me, I have a bigger problem with this mouse since it has stopped responding to the right click. I have the top cover removed and I'm trying to remove the circuit board (which is kind of double) in order to examine the button. Wish me luck...

  • @me1not1a1number Good luck!

  • Thanks so much, generous amount of rubbing alcohol worked for me as well! I thought that mouse was unusable until I found this advice.

  • Regular 70% rubbing alcohol on a cloth with vigorous scrubbing cleaned mine down to the shine.

  • i can't hold my mouse button :/ , it flickers

  • @campingdutchguy Not sure what you mean.

  • Had the same problem. MS mice are the best, but this coating is lousy. Easy way to fix it without any damage and leaving a smooth shiny surface that looks factory. get some lacquer thinner on a rag, and the rubber coating will come right off. Just be careful not to get it all over since it might damage the surface coatings you do not want to remove. My mouse, 7 years old now, looks like new, and continues to work better than the new gaming mice that I have tried recently.

  • @TeamHURSTOLDSRich Sounds good!

  • sanding is really really unnecessary LOL you just have to keep rubbing off the stickiness with (i used 91%) rubbing alcohol until it's smooth as baby skin =)

  • Goo Gone. I love this mouse, I would by again. The corded version is better for your hand though, too much weight in a mouse - carpel tunnel risk.

But yeah, find Goo Gone at your local hardware store, rub that on, leave it for a few minutes, wipe off with an old sock turned inside out.

But I also have ask, do you clean your hands before using your computer in general? I mean, just make sure you don't touch your greasy face or eat cheetos while working, that sort of thing.

  • @wendileona LOL, thanks for submitting your questions they were good for a laugh.

And Goo Gone did not work for me either. I think that after using rubbing alcohol for several months I wore off the coating to a point where it was constantly sticky. If you could fix your problem with Rubbing Alcohol or Goo Gone then either you do have some type of food product on your mouse or you are not at the problem level that I experienced before I fixed it.

  • You can use rubbing alcohol on a rag and wipe the rubber off. It works great.

  • @hedgeses I tried rubbing alcohol but it didn't work for me, that's why I went through the trouble of sanding the rubber grips. Now my mouse is PERFECT :)

  • I disabled my touchpad, now my mousec is working. thanks =D

  • @TheRandomShit12 You're welcome :)

  • i got a problem, i bought my microsfot mouse 8 months ago (wireless) and when i plug in, the seniftifiy is all screwed up, i changed the batteries, changing the settings in the control panel, and still got the same problem. please help.

  • @TheRandomShit12 If you adjusted the sensitivity in the control panel and that didn't fix it, chances are that you might have another type of software running that handles mouse/pointer sensitivity. Check your system tray icons in the right hand corner of your screen and see if any of them have anything to do with your mouse or touchpad if it is a laptop.
