If you are in town, house to house an AK is the way to go. Up to 300 meters it rocks after that it's suppressive fire. On the out skirts of town into the desert the AR has it's day. The AR comes on hard at 200 meters and can reach out to 600/800 meters and farther depending on skill levels. You need both in your arsenal. An AK is a "tractor", it ain't pretty, Camo paint and Picatinny rails only put "lipstick on a pig". These weapons are real nice but only "bragging rights" for rich dreamers.

Krebs fixes ALMOST every ergonomic problem. LoL. The biggest ergonomic problem the AK has is it's bulk and weight considering the gun, the magazines, and ammo. Give me the light and fast AR any day. That being said, I still love my AK and I would never sell it. It's a great gun.

there plastic ak-based rifles that has much less weight, isn't??? anyway even original AK (i mean mostly updated AKM and modern Ak-74) can not be considered as "heavy weapon", it has comparable weight to most other asasult rifles

@ukrainesuperpower87 You are right about the weight, about the same. B UT the ammo for the AK weights almost twice as much as the AR. When you pack 6/30rd mags and one in the weapon it' gets very heavy fast. You can carry twice as much ammo for the AR at the same weight. When it's 120 f. in the sun+ gear and water the AR wins every time. I have both and I do love my AK-47 but....I'm looking at a AK-74 for that reason.(5.45x39) Happy Birthday Mikhail Kalashnikov

There are a few things i don't like about the ak but that also depends on how moded out the weapon in question is. what i don't like about the traditional ak is that the rear sight is so far forward. i'm not crazy about the safety either. i also don't like having reach around the weapon to charge it, and i don't the standard mag release. i don't like the lack of a last round lock out. i'm not totally down on the ak's tho. i do like the caliber, reliability, and general KISS principality.

Though from our visit to Krebs today, most, if not all, the things i don't like about the ak, can (as with most things) be moded to my liking. i'm even considering purchasing an ak in the future.
