  • mhh, seems I am the only one playing it on a 5 string without detuning, works fine better than with in my opinion.

  • I play bass with three finger picking and I can keep up with most guitarists, but really, speed is overrated. Rhythm, it's all about the rhythm....

  • whats the tunning dude? 5*

  • I think it was 1 step down on all strings

  • And would you have an example of that here on youtube? Coz I can't find a demo version or so

  • The actual bassline is a lot harder, man. Trust me.

  • Do you have it in tabs? I'd like to see it if you say so

  • I'm afraid I don't, sorry, but you can listen to the pre-production version of the song, and you'll hear the bass a lot more clearly

  • bass players can be knobs about the using a pick thing.lol.does it matter? awesome vid btw

  • Thanks a lot man!

  • you play with a pick i see...why dont you finger pick? i never understand why bass players play with a pick

  • Dude I play with fingers all the way!! I never use a pick:d Your ears have lied to you this time. This song is entirely played with fingers

  • Bass players play with a pick because some songs are just far to fast to play with fingers unless you're totally insane at bass

Like with this video BassPfunk isnt playing a fraction of the speed the song is played at, sorry to be a critic but its true, I myself use both pick and fingers depending on what speeds im playing

  • LMFAO are you kidding me? its much easier to play faster with fingers not to mention if you can use 2, 3 or 4 fingers compared to ONE pick you can play MUCH faster using fingers so you my friend are mistaken no a GOOD bass player should be able to play faster with his fingers other wise he might as well play guitar if you want to play fast with a pick

  • I think your going abit over the top saying its much easier to play faster with fingers, your 2-4 finger vs 1 pick statement is kind of invalid also since they are both very different in how they are played

As i said i use fingers and pick depending on the song, pick is very fun sometimes you know

Id like to see you post some videos of playing fast songs with fingers also :)

Something like Beyond the Dark Sun By Wintersun

  • it is still much easier to play faster with fingers and i can gurantee the fastest bass finger picker vs the fastest bass player who uses a pick, the person who finger picks would be able to play faster and more complicated things

  • @Cryptlord9999 some time ago I thought the same way, until I started a band playing Amon Amarth and stuff and i tell you, picking is so much faster unless you dont play 8 hours each day. Just try to play Kalmahs Time takes us all or Amons Where is your god with fingers, if you manage to do that, please upload.

I have to use a new Pick (3.0 mm) every 7 hours played, I tell you, thats damn heavy stuff.

  • @Arminius74 actually No, ever heard of Alex Webster of Cannibal Corpse? One of the fastest bass players in the world and he 4 finger picks, trust me i have yet to meet a bass player that picks with a pick that i cant beat 2 finger picking even, not to mention you can do a lot more finger picking and it sounds more natural then playing with a pick, plus when you finger pick u can pick 2-4 different strings at the exact same time, thus allowing for more possible musical creations.

  • @Cryptlord9999

The point isnt speed, you guys are both wrong. You will ALWAYS find someone who is faster with pick then find someone faster with fingers, then find someone who is EVEN faster with a pick and it will keep going on (although if you go by technicalities pick IS faster, there is no way anyone can deny it).

It is all about TONE, a bassist only decides what to use based on the tone he wants, I can pick and finger at nearly the same speed.

  • yeah im a guitarist, just saying that u can't get wrist movment when your fingerpicking so generally picking is alot faster, but when your playing stuff that requries both a bass line and a melody fingerpicking of course has its advantages. Wouldn't say its anything close to as fast though

  • how can you say that...Alex Webster dude....wayyyy faster then picking with a pick and he doesnt even try to go as fast as he possibly can

  • thats not even it, pick and fingers is all there players opinion on tone, and comfort

  • @chrisbasss its a really fast song though, and hes pretty decent anyway

  • metallica bass player play with his fingers

  • nice cover! The Groan of Wind id one of my favourite songs from them

  • Thx man!! Mine too, it's such an awesome song to play

  • good cover!can you send me the tab?
