By the standards of surfers that wave wouldn't even be classified as big. Big surf in Hawaii starts at 8 foot faces. Huge surf starts at 25 feet. The Eddie Aikau contest isn't even held unless the surf is 25 feet. Giant surf is 35 - 50 feet. Guys are currently towing into waves that have 70 foot faces. Some claim to have ridden bigger. Surf like that only happens rarely but seems to be more frequent lately. Waves are measured from mid line on a graph, not from trough to crest. 4 foot Cabo.
