I think it's an awesome plane, and one of the most advanced I've seen. It's like a combat-minded recreation of the Grumman X-29. It's hard to nail down balance and control in designing a forward-swept fighter, but the Russians have outdone themselves with this one. It'd be interesting to see a simulated dogfight between the S-37 and either the F-22 or the F-15 ACTIVE. It might have some trouble vs. thrust-vectoring systems though, like in the previously mentioned fighters.

Anti-Radiation refers to the ARM SHRIKE and the newer HARM missiles that lock onto search radars from ground AAA and SAM sites. As a NATO member countrys citizen, i accept the advantages of aerodynamics of Russian planes, but they are missing one point! Planes mission is carring the bombs and hitting the targets as far as possible and certain! So,a F-16 could be very simple looking near SU37 but has better radar systems and coperations system with other units,so F-16 doesnt hate so come closer a SU37, then logic winning the muscle *:)

Meaning that the Army and Marines had troops (called tunnel rats)that specialized in going into these cave complexes armed with only their 45 pistols, grenades, and a flashlight. Their mission was to infiltrate, kill, and blow up ammunition stores and cave complexes. Other times they were recon or kill and destroy only, but many caves went hidden and served the NVA very well, that is one rerason they lasted out so long.(google tunnel rats)

Just because it doesn't need a catapult for take-off just means that it isn't as versital and is payload limited. The more powerful engines required just give a bigger IR signature for IRG missiles. In 1942 , 16 B-25 bombers flew off of the USS HORNET and bombed Japan without a catapult..no big deal.. so the Su-47 can take-off of Russias 1 and only carrier..that figures cause thats all the SU-47's that they have anyway.
