To clarify this for all. Here is how to find the glass material. Steps: 1) Go the the Rendering tab and hit "Render Setup" 2) Scroll down to the bottom and expand "Assign Renderer" 3) Under Production, click the box and select "mental ray Renderer" 4) Open materials panel and click the box next to where you name the material. 5) Scroll down to the Mental Ray material list 6) Select "Autodesk Solid Glass" 7) Apply material the model 8) RENDER! Thumbs up so everyone can see this!
Go to Render > Material Editor (or press M) then press the 'Get Material' icon, which in on the horizontal line of icons beneath the sample slots, then press 'Mtl Library' radio button which is in the 'Browse From:' section, then press the 'Open' button which in the 'File section', this should take you to your material library; select 'architectural.materials.doors & windows. You'll then see a selection of materials appearing the Material/Map Browser - you have a choice of 4 'glass' materials.
I dont think I could ever make model's. I wouldn't know how to make them so that they are not oversized or too small when using them in-games. I would suck at making them life sized.
making life size isnt hard you just adjust the units to inchs or whatever measurement you want and its best to use the measurements of a real life object
Good tutorial, but may be somebody does not know that the glass material is available only if the mental-ray renderer is used. So, don't forget to set it!
Everyone! For the material. Just click on a sphere, then Standard, then on the side there should be a checkbox labeled in-compatible. Check that, it will be above Ink and Paint. But it dosen;t work because its incompatible!
The tutorial wasn't very helpful because of the quality, and speed you are doing this in, also there is no sound. I understand the lathe system, but I am still struggling with the glassy texture. I don't have it in my library, you should have made it from scratch. Other than that, the tutorial was quite enjoyable.
this video is for noobs im sorry but a person whos been using a year would aready know and ten times more this is for people with like 2 months experiance so put on title for beginers lol.
Great glass tutorial cgarartist78! Using Mental Ray renderer is not only quicker to render but you have more of an assortment of materials to choose from. I take 3DMax hands down over FormZ.
well, it is quite simple i have used Mantel Ray renderer that shiped with Max and have used it is built in glass (physics_phen) material that you can find under materials but keep in mind u have to enable 1st the mantel ray renderer from asign render option under rendering options ... best of luck !
