I thought it was an OK movie. It wasn't the worst movie I've ever seen, but it wasn't the best either. This movie is kind of like one of those movies that you have to see twice before you can fully understand it. I'd give it a 3.5/5.

They ruined the term "gamer" for me. I'm still a gamer today, but back before I saw that piece of shit, I loved being called a gamer, but now I just thing of that garbage every time I hear or see the term. Yea i agree totally. There were very few breif moments that were pretty cool. Unfortunently, as you said the best part was the cameo of the Psych characters. And even that wasnt too special for me, becuase the people i watched it with didnt know who they were so i couldnt react all "crazy"
The only problem I have with this review is that, at no point, did this movie really take itself seriously. It was full of bizarro jokes and moody visuals, and Crank-esque humor. I don't think this movie took itself seriously at all- it's just goofy entertainment with a slight moral at the end. This is one of those rare reviews where I totally disagree with ErickWithNoK... Especially with the dance scene- that was amazing.

To me, Gamer was a movie that was too busy trying to be stylized and intense that in the end, it really had nothing original to say. The movie itself felt very frustrating to watch. Not only because of its hyper-violence, but the intensity was just so constant and eye straining. This film would probably have been more interesting if it were done in the 80's, but there's a lot of dead weight that would need replaced with actual substance. It's a disgrace to gamers. The movie had some interesting ideas. What if you were IN the game? We kill people in videogames like that's a normal thing, but when we think about it... could we do that to real people? It's that fear that should be in the movie, and it is until a certain point but then everything else sucked. The ending was just TERRIBLE, I was like "What... tha... f***?"

I saw the movie last night. I didn't have much expectation since i never saw a trailer of it. After the movie I found myself in a conversation with a friend about which world (!SPOILER!) Society or Slayers was more perverted. Thats something really interesting about it. What I mean is allright in one of these worlds they kill each other. But how sick is it for someone to make another person eat disgusting bugs or make them **** random people. So maybe the movie is setting a point there.

I think Gamer's biggest flaw is that while it attempts to criticize the culture of mindless violence we live in today, it is a movie that is rated R for violence making Gamer a product of the very society it criticizes.
And I don't think the violence was in any way neccesary to spread that message, but it would have required Gamer to be an intellectual film as opposed to an action film.
why do they have a 'save' point in the game, in the film, as the player only has ONE life, cos once theyre dead, they die for real (not the gamer playing)

It's that fear that should be in the movie, and it is until a certain point but then everything else sucked. The ending was just TERRIBLE, I was like "What... tha... f***?"

I know this is late; but I could explain some flaws the movie had that could have made it more understandable.
The movie wasn't THAT bad to the point where I could care-less about everything, but there are some things that should have been changed to make it an "awesome film".

I saw the movie last night. I didn't have much expectation since i never saw a trailer of it. After the movie I found myself in a conversation with a friend about which world (!SPOILER!) Society or Slayers was more perverted. Thats something really interesting about it. What I mean is allright in one of these worlds they kill each other. But how sick is it for someone to make another person eat disgusting bugs or make them **** random people. So maybe the movie is setting a point there.

dude, you made me think the movie would suck, but it was amazing. the story was so unique. a guy got fucking t-bagged. and the main character reminded me of the guy from death race. the movie was so good but you dont understand that movies like this are love it, or hate it. just know the story of the videogame infamouse. it is complex and cool, but some people find it stupid, though i dont know how.

I think Gamer's biggest flaw is that while it attempts to criticize the culture of mindless violence we live in today, it is a movie that is rated R for violence making Gamer a product of the very society it criticizes.
And I don't think the violence was in any way neccesary to spread that message, but it would have required Gamer to be an intellectual film as opposed to an action film.

well gamer it´s not a good movie, but maybe it has a message: the way the human race will be like in the future, i mean... all this "sexual behavour" of the "Society" game, girls showing off to get what they want (i know that happens actually, but in the future it will be even more often), and the other point is those fat guys that will be only playing and eating and eating doing nothing... maybe this was the message of the movie, i hope we don´t become into that.

What visual effects? I couldn't see anything in this movie. Crank 1 and 2 had better camerawork and the shaky camera made sense in those movies.

Well i am a gamer and i hated this movie so much. I thought from the trailer that it would be cool... but i was so disappointed. no story, no characters, NO ANYTHING except visual effects. I felt insulted as a movie goer.
