  • are the sparks bad when it accelerates?

  • @TheFordguy98 Its just the brake pads, not a big deal wont hurt anything

  • only in america.

  • is this yours too?

  • @mastazeuj Nope but I wish it were

  • @mastazeuj u got 250,00 dollars tht doesnt include the rig and spare parts haha

  • I met dennis anderson at my dads job back in 2004 he was such a nice guy i wish all people were so down to earth.

  • Have a double grave digger freestyle video on my channel, rogers center, 2011

  • @utuberevlimitracing I will have a look

  • @michaelovitch haha good call :)

  • what engine do they put in that monster

  • @SrgScream I think thats a 540 cubic inch Chevy

  • @groutaone 540ci merlin:)

  • @groutaone 540 CI Merlin

  • @groutaone 540 ci merlin:)

  • yay gravedigger

  • Why didn't they let you run it hoss? That seems kinda weak... I bet you could pull a 8 sec quarter out of that beast if you got to tinker with it :)

  • /watch?v=U58s-ibZxEs <<<<<< HERES ANOTHER GRAVE DIGGER DRAG RACE!!!!!

  • isnt grave digger all wheel drive....

  • @eliruben123 Yes, but they took the front drive shaft off for this event so it was only rear wheel drive

  • @eliruben123

the first frame of the vid show you the answer : )

  • Fuck... now i want one lol

  • That was badass!

  • fucken sparks flying out of the differential housing

  • what are the sparks coming from.. I would expect flames not sparks from the exhaust.

  • @kary1982v6 Each axle has only one brake, right in the centre. This is done to make use of the gearing leverage (ring & pinion x the planetary at the hub) which would be about 17-1 gear ratio. When the brakes are applied the stopping power is multiplied 17 times compared to if the brakes were at the wheel, the only draw back from this system is the brake rotor is turning 17 times faster than it would at the wheel, so they use brake pads that will take this abuse but they throw sparks

  • @groutaone

why sparks at the acceleration only ?

  • @michaelovitch At the burnout he's holding the truck back with the brakes, and braking before his run is finished has me a bit puzzled, braking to make sparks just for show? I think only the driver knows for sure.

  • @groutaone interesting... never noticed that when I was watching these trucks in the past... thanks I did not even think of that.

  • Very nice.

  • Very cool to see that.

  • @TheDieselStop It was the first I ever heard or seen of one run the drag strip, kinda neat to see

  • a burnout with tires that big looks crazy lol

  • Best Vid ever I always wondered what a monster truck would run

  • Make it road legal!

  • moving pretty good for what it is tho!!

  • That was awesome ....pretty darn quick too!

  • what number is grave digger up to? that was 19 and the burnout was awesome!

  • WOW you wouldn't think something that lumbers around like that thing does would be nearly that fast on a track as that was. they change out the gears for this one i am assuming ?

  • This was at our local track. I guess they never did this before because they didn't have a line lock and had to overpower the rear brakes to do the burn out hence the sparks. After the first run they were talking about putting 1 on the truck

  • Damn!! Nice pass.

  • But no way it's running a 12.8 with a trap speed of 78 in the 1/8. Maybe a mid-high 13

  • Looks like it should have no problem hooking up Lol

  • is that the real grave digger?

  • @barajasracing Yes its the real deal, in fact there are normally seven with seven drivers in operation all over the place.

  • @groutaone great video. i was there to. i got a few videos on my page. you got any of the jet cars.

  • @alhkfas Nothing for jet cars that day, I do however have two jet car videos on my channel from last year

  • badass video

  • looked like a linebacker running track . lol

  • what where the sparks coming from underneath the rear axle

  • @joehanson7070 Each axle has only one brake, right in the centre.

  • grave digger was always my fav. great video man!

  • @paradoxdesigns I remember Grave Digger and Bigfoot back in the leaf spring days, that was almost as wild as it is today

  • @groutaone i actually rode in Big Foot back in those days! i was just a kid but i entered a contest at a stadium and a few of us got to take a ride. crazy stuff!

  • @paradoxdesigns You will remember that for life, awesome

  • I was hoping your Firebird was going to run it!

  • @edzgarage Scary thing would be if hes behind me, I gotta stop sometime!

  • @groutaone LOL!!!

  • great video! i have been waiting for a long time to see that.

  • That was friggin cool.Thanks

  • Adamryanclark add 8000+ lbs and see how she does.

  • My old super pro car with a shit 540 ran 5.70 in the 1/8

  • To make as much power as that engine makes its a pig now don't give me grief I know it has the wrong gearing and its heavy but I would have figured out would have ran mid to low 7 in the 1/8 hell even high 6

  • Pretty cool my man! I heard he actually ran at a track near here recently! Makin the circuit I guess.

I was gonna ask about the sparks, but I see you adequately answered that already ;)

  • @rekjavicxxx I wonder if running drag strips is a new thing for these trucks?,First I had seen or heard of it.

  • @rekjavicxxx Also hows the volume of my vids now? Cranked it up a bit since you mentioned it, should be able to hear them all the way to Texas now.

  • @groutaone Haha....funny you mentioned that! I was actually just thinking about how awesome the sound was while I was watching this vid. Audio gain is perfect my friend. Keep on rockin out! :)

Snow on its way to ya soon??

  • @rekjavicxxx Around november sometime we normally start to get snow

  • @groutaone Bet you guys are in prime season right now! Our prime season doesn't BEGIN till about November...LOL

  • hey that guy was in our way

  • @SrgScream Just when you think you got a good shot with the camera, some dude gets in there

  • I know nothing about 1/8th mile drags. Is 8.2 at 78mph fast?

  • @540merlin That would be about a 12:8 1/4 mile, his might be a bit slower as it seemed the truck was all done by the 1/8th but low 13s I would think

  • BTW, Grave Digger runs a 540 Merlin...

  • @540merlin except for truck number 14 that was build specifically for freestyle that runs a 702. :-)

  • @540merlin I knew it was a big inch Chevy, didnt know it was a Merlin

  • @groutaone Not just a Merlin, a 540 Merlin.

  • @540merlin You know your Diggers, what year did they get rid of leafs and go four link?

  • @groutaone The 540 Merlin is the entire extent of my knowledge about Digger. Other than having seen him perform a few times.

  • GRRRAAAVVVEEE DIIIGGGERRRR! AWESOME! I love monster trucking!

  • Oh man, that is AWESOME!

i actually got the grave digger painted on my bedroom wall from when i was a kid :p

  • @DutchDennus I remember Digger and Bigfoot racing on leaf springs, I think those days were as wild as they are now they just didnt jump as high lol

  • That's scary. Something that big shouldn't be that agile.

  • HEY groutaone! what were those sparks from?

  • @CCSinventions Each axle has only on brake, right in the centre. This is done to make use of the gearing leverage (ring & pinion x the planetary at the hub) which would be about 17-1 gear ratio. When the brakes are applied the stopping power is multiplied 17 times compared to if the brakes were at the wheel, the only draw back from this system is the brake rotor is turning 17 times faster than it would at the wheel, so they use brake pads that will take this abuse but they throw sparks.

  • @groutaone jeez they must sink cash into this

  • @CCSinventions Big bucks, these guys are lucky enough to make a good living at it, there are seven Grave diggers and drivers out there according to the driver of this truck

  • only 2 gears?

  • @william16339 Most likely a two speed powerglide transmission, I have one in my Firebird also

  • @groutaone lmfao,,,ohhh ok i was like wtf?? lol,,,,btw i love ur cr500 vids im gettin a 87 cr125 today or tmarrow..

  • sparks are scary! lol

  • Nothing like the sound of a blown big block!

  • @yellowbusguy Thumbs up for the above comment

  • One of the original Monster Trucks still around, ya gotta give him credit for developing and capitalizing on the name eh!! Great video Buddy!!☺

  • @805ROADKING Make money while you play, must be a fun life

  • IF IT HAD SMALLER WHEELS/TIRES IT WOULD HAVE DONE A FASTER TIME, THE ENGINE WOULDN'T HAVE THAT MUCH TROUBLE PUSHING AND WOULD MAKE IT GO FASTER AND ACCELERATE FASTER ALSO

  • @pnskbk OBVIOUSLY BUT THEN IT WOULDN'T BE A MONSTER TRUCK

caps lock, cruise control for cool!

  • With those tires, weight and wheel base, it must be a handful on the strip. Great video...as usual.

  • @yourbeekeeper Thanks for having a look

  • Poor thing ran outta legs at 16th mile...

  • What a lovely beast!

  • what are the reason for the sparks under the car ?

  • @LurkePus It´s from the breaks.

  • @LurkePus From the Center Disk Brake?

  • @LurkePus Each axle has only one brake, right in the centre.

  • Now that thing looks cool

  • good video man

  • cool stuff man

  • Digger a little far from home lol

  • @AoldaGreat I want to see it in the snow

  • and another great video from groutaone, Keep it up!

  • @zeekdavis11 Thanks man

  • looks more like an exhibition vehicle.
