openIV does work with 1.0.7.0, i used to to put in a different HUD and it works fine. I know i'm running 1.0.7.0 because I have mods that only run on 1.0.7.0.
@GloomFate So I followed another page's instructions as well as yours (I follow written tutorials better, but use video tutorials to help)
And for some reason, I don't see my car showing up at all. My game didn't crash on startup, everything loads and plays fine, but the car I added isn't showing up anywhere. . . I tried to see if I could spawn it with Simple Native Trainer, but the car isn't in the list. Any idea what's going on?
@GloomFate Nevermind that last comment, it was working the whole time, I just needed a different trainer (allows spawning of added cars). BUT now I have a different problem. I tried adding another car with Open IV into my "addedveh.img" file and putting in all the other data through, but the car doesn't load. I'm actually not even sure if it's really in the .img file, because I used Spark IV to open the addedveh.img and only the first car's .wft and .wtd files showed up (the one that works).
@GloomFate Ah I finally figured it out! Thank you for this, it helped a lot. I've got 10 cars added to the game so far, but do you know if there's a limit to how many vehicles can be added to the game? How many do you have running right now?
@levimoreno Yes I am pretty sure there is a limit and I think it is 30, my current install of gta4 is fresh as I changed OS but I had about 20 something cars added.
I would stop at 31 and if it does not work delete one.
Well, I tried both ways. I think the problem lies with the img file. Depending on where I put the line for the added.img file in the images.txt, depends if it crashes or not. If I put it at the end, it doesn't crash, but it doesn't load. If it put it where you put it, it crashes.
It's either crasheses GTA, or doesn't load. I did it the exact way you do it. If it upload the files, and tell you the model I used, would you mind taking a look?
Thanks for your explanation, and I found it very helpfull, however, I'm a bit confused about one thing: The original files.
Could you please tell me in which original GTA IV files I have to put the data from a downloaded (and renamed) car in? And also where I can find those?
@timpieto nope no need to create a map, just rename the cars you have downloaded and add them to a img archive created with the latest version of openIV, then create and edit a few txt/dat files in notepad.
I couldn't possibly go into more a more detailed explanation with out teaching a whole level 3 computing course. I hate those tutorials that spend an hour going on about how to copy and paste, then they explain how to open notepad lol, I do not plan on making one of those sorry.
The added cars are ok but why I can't hear the SOUNDS of horn,open doors,close doors,engine? Please help me!

@Sodisna Found the problem, in your addedveh file you need to add a line up the top that says cars

@levimoreno In openIV you have to confirm that you want to add the files by clicking File>Rebuild
There should not be a need to use a trainer, you can make the peds drive the cars by adding them into cargrp file.

@Sodisna did you patch openIV with the file in description? I dont mind having a look for you.
GloomFate 6 months ago
@GloomFate
I use the latest version of OpenIV 0.9.2.
Sodisna 6 months ago
@Sodisna actually I dont think openIV needs patching any more as the guy who developed it decided finally updated it to work with 1.0.7.0
GloomFate 6 months ago
@GloomFate
Yea, it works fine in 1.0.7.0. Problem is when it doesn't load, I get a lot taxis.

The car I use is 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T Hemi. It's at GTAinside(dot)com

@Sodisna I am not sure if the Rage engine is case sensitive or not in your gta'dat file your extension to addedveh'ide is in upper case "addedveh'IDE"
I would go thru all the files that you edited and treat them as tho it was case sensitive and they match up.
