"If we do a really good job" in helping people survive and live longer, there would be less need for many of the poverty-driven people to have so many kids. This will effectively reduce population growth. Nearly everyone commenting on here should study some mathematics and statistics surrounding population growth rates and how poverty affects it.
Vaccines can help reduce population because when more children survive their early years due to being vaccinated against whatever, women will not feel the need to have so many kids to overcome a high child mortality rate.

Example - Afghanistan has the highest birthrate in the world and the highest infant mortality.

Also western countries already have declining birth rates thus the increase in human population is being driven by developing countries. Promoting family planning is in everyone's best interest. The 900 mill reduction would not come from killing anyone just decreasing new births. Better healthcare and vaccines dont kill ppl but improve quality of life. Gates has already donated 30 BILLION dollars to charity and the majority of his fortune will be left to charity his kids get less than 1%.

More children means A LOWER QUALITY OF LIFE especially in poor countries. The younger you have kids and the more kids you have the more likely you are to stay trapped in a cycle of poverty. In poor countries there is no universal education. That means the parents have to pay fees for each child to attend school. If they have too many kids they simply cannot afford to both feed them and educate them. This makes the kids targets for all kinds of unscrupulous people / dooms the entire country.
