None of you know what you are talking about concerning the grappling against the cage... it is NORMAL for refs to break up a grapple in MMA when neither fighter is advancing or going for position. Otherwise they would lock up and stand there for 5 minutes... yeah that would be fun to watch.

I dont know nothing about this sport, but it was clear to me that Rosie took a lot of damage. The final punch (which I love as a finishing of the match) was the last strong punch she could get. But you got to give Rosie credit, taking that much of punches. Good work Gina.

This was a very decent opponent for Carrano, except that Sexton's hands are just not very heavy. If she had more weight to her punches, Carrano might never have made it off the floor.

Carrano's floor game seems to have improved since this match, but she will be facing a VERY good floor fighter in Cyborg. Add that Cyborg can keep people on the mat AND has very heavy hands AND is a trulky big opponent, we might not see Carrano get of the floor.

I would hardly call this a fair contest; in fact, it looked more to me like it was Rosi Sexton versus Gina Carano and the referee. Remember, this is supposed to be an MMA fight, not a boxing match; therefore, I can only opinion that the referees practice of continually breaking the clenches gave an unfair advantage to Gina Carano.

i disagree completely...he rarely broke it up except when she was leaning on carano not progressing her position and leaning on carano. Gotta work from the clinch or they are gonna break it up. I have been fighting for three years now and I know that the fans wanna see action whether standing up or on the ground you can't lean or lay. The point is to try to win the fight not keep the person from hitting you. That's just my opinion.

Well, there are more strategic and tactical angles than just throwing punches or getting a good lock. If you have done wrestling or Judo or similar, you will find that putting on pressure like that is EXTREMELY tiring and exhaustive. Which means that a wrestler putting such pressure on a striker can wear out the opponent, as the striker doesn't have that training. If she could have worn out Gina to take the sledges out of the punches, she might have had the advantage.

This win speaks volumes, against a more exper. sexton. Gina's natural ability even today is not fully harnessed. She will only get better on the ground. Those front kicks she used vs. young helped her, she will need them vs. cyborg.
