@rubberduckie120, the exact same thing just happened to me, as it has many times before. It looked like the train came straight from the fiery infernos of hell and I switched on the computer to finally work out what it was. Now I know it's a Grinder. So they're rare? I've seen about 8 of them over the past couple of years!
i put in over ten years for the rail road and have never seen one exsept one time come through mcalester oklahoma. but it was just passing through. this is the first time i ever seen one work. thanks for who ever down loaded this. i can die a happy retired rail roader now. godbless all the men who gave it all and died for what we did to keep them big boys running. rip big john and merle. both killed in car accidents going to work.
THIS IS AN AWESOME VIDEO!! I've only ever seen one of these working one time when I was like 4 and it was in the daytime. I've always heard they put on a great light show at night but your camera captured it perfectly! That long shot at the end blew me away. :)
I just saw one working in my town this morning. This was the second time I ever got to see one in action, fortunately THIS time I had my camera with me!
awesome, though I wonder how many people who don't know what this train is and happens to be sitting at a crossing react to the sparks and smoke? I imagine quite a few car drivers wet their pants.
harsco doesn't cut out our breaks and the only reason we started that fire was because that train didn't have proper fire prevention. and you can't pretend that loram doesn't start fires, because i know they do, its all part of grinding.
yeah dude it is awesome to see in person, i work for harsco, and that exact train started a fire over by marshall this morning lol...thats loram for you
its was a pretty decent sized fire, they had to bring the train back to use the cannons on the end of the train instead of just using the truck on the hi-rails,
I work for Loram and drive one of these just to explain to people the difference between our companys we haven,t had a lost time injury in 2 years we also dont cut out the brakes in our cars You know what Im talking about God help there famileys Harsco also started a fire in Washington that did 9 million dollars worth of damage and the the UP kicked them off the property I think I will stick with Loram MUCH safer
Straight outta hell!

The fire crew will do the wetting for them. It's a speciality.
I do wonder how many use the LORAM as pay out. You know, calling insurance and say "the LORAM burnt my car", or "my lawn", or "my foot!"

i stepped on the track and burnt my foot, lol that would suck

LORAM usually has 3 water tank cars and a caboose on the end with high pressure fire hoses and such though.
