working remotely does have it's advantagges and disadvantages...I tend to get side track quite a bit on other projects that way. Worked that way quite often when I was traveling to meet cleints and having to do operational number crunching in the hotel at night.

Solar spot activity down? Cooler weather?? In Abbotsford BC (approx 75km inland from Vancouver) We just had back- to- back record temperature days -38 Celcius. Breaking a record set in 1955! I know that's coolish for some parts of the world however we're just not used to it. Maybe we'll see 49 at the 49th parallel some day- hope not!

I saw the Aurora Borealis once on a trip to North Dakota, It was in August and I was about 14 (40 years ago). Being from Texas it was quite an event to me, i never will forget it. I just happened to be outside and it was a dusk. totally unexpected.

I saw a solar flare of some sort from Ireland at the start of that week. On the Atlantic coast the skies are amazing-never saw colours tho, just white light, but pretty all the same. My Nana used to call em 'openings'- for when Heaven opened briefly letting its light out. Cute!
