  • so do i it sucks

  • Hey i have a question, my bf has been using the CPAP for about a year and in the beginning it helped him a lot but after a few months it didnt really do anything. They are thinking about getting UPPP or LAUP and adjusting his jaw, i guess my question is, Is it worth it?? ive heard that the UPPP only really helps for about a year after, is it still helping you with breathing now as much as it did when you first had it done?

  • If the power went out in the middle of the night, what would happen? Would you still be able to breathe with the mask on and no power? Just curious. Thanks.

  • u seem to be a smoker, maybe thats why your condition is still chronic ?

  • This is wonderful.... I am waiting for my 2nd sleep test as the one I did at home came back at 17x per hour... every 3 minutes! this is not hugely high but for a 38 year old it is too high. Anyhow if necessary then I will have the same op you had and if that doesnt help a CPAP... I think husband may prefer the snoring as it is rather intrusive but hey ho... a less cranky wife will have its advantages too! Thanks for a great film. It takes away the fear!

  • Thanks Sean. Good job. Loved the "CLAP CLAP" lights out!

  • i gota do a sleep test to keep my cdl which i think is bullshit. im sure they will tell me i need one.Keep letting the government run our lives we are losing all our freedoms.

  • People don't need to be wearing a CPAP. We offer an alternative to the CPAP. Our patients are happy and sleeping well.

  • CPAP is a wonderful, benign treatment that helps lots of people. Very glad you found relief with it.

  • I don't have medical qualifications but I would steer clear of prednisolone and cortisone if possible. Have you tried salt water to unblock and treat your sinusitis?

I have a deviated septum and have found that by blocking my nose with my thumb and finger and holding my breath whilst moving my head up and down it will clear. This is a buteyko method and it works every time. I suggest you see a buteyko practitioner who is alos a biochemist. who understands teh body. Good luck. Paul

  • @rodlaw60

I have the same condition as you. Could you explain me better your technique? Thanks :)

  • Hi Sean I too have sleep apnoea. I was diagnosed with severe sleep apnoea and have tried CPAP. Yes it provided some relief but I felt like an invalid. I had to use a chin strap as my mouth kept opening. I then discovered buteyko breathing. As a former mouth breather I was cynical but it works as CO2 acts as a regulator of my breathing. The importance of CO2 is not understood by many. Buteyko also causes you to lose weight. Please contact me if you have any queries.

  • @rodlaw60 I was practicing my buteyko breathing and doing really well, but my chronic sinusitis got worse and worse as my cortisone decreased, and i was back to not being able to unblock my nose, and mouth breathing, so i am right back where is tarted, and the doctors wont let me keep taking prednisolone because of all the damage it has done over the years, so i am aware how great the breathing is, but unsure what solution there is for someone like me with so many severe allergic reactions

  • that machine is a little different than mine though

  • Hey!! Sean I have the same mask. I have moderate sleep apnea. I am starting to think that it has graduated toward severe because my friend said I was snoring loud the other morning. I didn't wear my mask that morning. Most times I do.

  • you poor soul!!! you still have to use the machine even after that operation

  • My Cpap Mask is a pain!

  • Sean, I've had mine for about four years and even though I hate it I wouldn't dare sleep without it. I also have 30 pounds to lose. I'm 200 and should be under 175 at 5'6". Ideal is actually in the neighborhood of 145 but let's get real.

Anyway, I'm surfing around looking for additional tips because even at 16cfm, I'm still waking up with my hands and arms tingling from lack of oxygen. I've got to do better!!!

  • Weight loss is a priority in our apnea cases.

You overweight = you don't sleep.

All of the doctors I went to, in different areas, told me to loose my fat.

And I am not that fat, really

  • Thank you for sharing your experience. I am sure you have helped other people.

  • ùhm_Ï_féël_sô_lÕÑÈlý_tøDay

  • I'v had mine for a month and I love it, i sleep so much better

  • Thanks for sharing. Nice to know it is making a big difference for you.

  • I was talked into getting the swift nasal pillows, and now I RARELY wake with my mask on. I am thinking of going to a full face mask. My wife says that I will drop open my mouth and the air will go through my mouth. Did you notice the full face mask was much better than the nose mask?

  • Sean, I set out to go for sleep tests as soon as possible.

My question is, did your memory performance improve? That's my primary goal. I easily easily cannot retain things.

    Thanks for posting.

  • @montagninavarro I have been eating clean, losing weight and sleeping so much better.... the secret is losing weight also while eating clean... I dont have reflux anymore either!

  • Do you still have to use the mask even after they did the operation to help you breath better?

  • Srprised your docs would du

  • Did I read that right ? That you have only 10 apneas a night? Sorry, but sounds WONDERFUL! S

  • Thanks for doing this video. I've been strugeling for weeks to get my cpap machine working for me. Had to have he pressure turned up a couple of times and working out the humidifier. Hope I get some sleep soon. Glad you got it working for you. Thanks again

  • I have just had a sleep study to determine if i have sleep apnea. Can you please tell me if you suffered any other health problems that were caused by your sleep apnea.

  • Great Video - - thanks for doing that. I have been using a cpap for the past 5 years - - as I am told that I have a small airway. I did not want to have the surgery as I understand the success rate is not great. Do you know your body mass index? If it is 35 or more, you are at more risk for OSA. If you were to lose just 10% of your weight, you may be able to get off the machine or at least lower the pressure. Let us know how it goes.

  • Thanks for the video. Its funny when you talk about your symptoms. Its like im looking at a mirror and listening to myself. I go in for a sleep study this week. Wish me luck.

  • I've just been diagonosed with sleep apnea. My wife has been telling me for years that I had a problem. a few months ago I had a mini stroke or TIA. After doing all the tests they found that my heart is enlarged from lack of oxygen due to sleep apnea. This is recent news and so I haven't gotten a CPAP machine or anything yet but I'm sure next week I'll be getting set up. I'm a mouth breather too so I'm sure I'll need a full mask. Thanks for your video - it was very informative for me.

  • Wait I thought it was impossible to use CPAP once you had the UPPP surgery? I had that surgery 6months ago but apparently it didn't help, I'm not sure if I still snore but what I know for sure is that I STILL have sleep apnea. I'm always tired even 6months after! I feel like I've been ripped off by my surgeon (he made money off me with UPPP). Now I'm considering either the mandibular surgery or CPAP. I'm only 21 and I don't want to spend the rest of my life depending on some creepy-looking mask.

  • so what was the surgery suppose to help you, or are they telling you that for your insurance, WHAT DOES YOUR WIFE SAY / she sleeps with you ?

  • My dad suffers from sleep apnea and you helped me to greater understand the condition and see that CPAP is a viable treatment. Thanks for sharing your experience with us!

  • oh another thing, why do you need the machine if you had the surgery?

  • without your uvula however you say it can you choke more?

  • i have sleep apnea i have been using a cpap machine now for about 2 months with a nasal mask i during my apnea episodes i stop breathing 27 times an hour anyone out there just starting to use a cpap machine stick with it you will get used to it

  • Oh thanks for that. I'm starting my second night tonight using one and I haven't had much success on the first night. Claustrophobia and panic attacks. I had just the nose one but I swapped it today for one like yours, the mouth and nose. I'm trying to get the courage up to go to bed now lol, but thought I'd look for videos and found yours. I know once I can get past the claustrophobia part I'll be fine. Thanks Sean!!!

  • @Hollywobble You can do it! I had the same problem with the panic attacks. Remember, your body is not only readjusting to wearing a CPAP mask but also to sleeping uninterrupted. It can take a month or two to adjust. If you need help, google the CPAP/apnea message boards. We're out there to help!

  • @tattooyu Yes, thank you tattooyu, I'm finally using it successfully. But I'm on my third mask now, a full face one. It doesn't have the restrictions around the nose and even though it's a full face, it makes you feel less like you're wearing one. Thank god for the CPAP, it was worth persisting with as I feel so much better :-) Thanks again

  • @tattooyu @tattooyu I posted b4 but it didn't go through. It's working now and I'm over my panic attacks. Have a full mask and it's working beautifully. I'm feeling so much better. Thanks again

  • @Hollywobble That's fantastic! Keep at it, even through the rough times. You will thank yourself later.

  • Oh thanks for that. I'm starting my second night tonight using one and I haven't had much success on the first night. Claustrophobia and panic attacks. • i under stand u some time im ever scaerd to fall a sleepbecause lost of air

  • thanks for posting, i am due in to be fitted with a cpap for the first time v soon, so your vid was very helpfull !!!! cheers !!!

  • i have sleep paralysis

  • I have to say, you did a great job explaining it! I also love that it is a positive feed back. I am a Respiratory Therapist and I work in a hospital and a sleep lab. It excites me so much to see those positive/ eye opening results. Hope it is still going great for you!

  • Well done! Esp the clapper at the end!!

  • By D. Haner (Point Reyes, CA.) - See all my reviews Nasivent Tube - Anti Snoring, I was a little skeptical about any product that can cure snoring, but not anymore--this product works! My wife and I had gotten used to waking up in separate beds as I would leave when awakened by her snoring. It's comfortable, high quality and fits well. In fact, we both use them. With 4 sizes in a package, one fits me and the smaller one works for my wife. Now we're both happy and sleeping well--together.

This review is from: Nasivent Tube - Anti Snoring, Snore and Anti Sleep Apnea Aid (Health and Beauty)

The Nasivent Tube works for me. My wife is pleased and both of us are sleeping better. It is easy to use and not uncomfortable. I would strongly advise anyhone with snoring problems to give it a try.

  • These things sound like Darth Vader when someone breathes--ha! My step sister and her husband both use these and it helps them breathe normally at night.

  • Great video! Very informative. I'm going in for an overnight sleep study, because apparently, I have sleep apnea as well. Thank you for making this video. -Robin

  • I TOO HAVE SLEEP APENA THEY DIAGNOSED ME ABOUT A MONTH AGO I HAVE TO USE A CPAP AS WELL THE PROBLEM I AM HAVING IS SOMETIME IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT PULL THE THING OFF

  • great video :-D if you ever start to dislike breathing against the air pressure you might wanna try whats called a bipap :-D

  • anyone who wants to know more about sleep disorders may also find the book "Sleep Disorders for Dummies" useful. it explains how to improve your sleep habits, manage stress, find relief from your symptoms etc

  • I don't understand why, after all that surgery, you still need CPAP ? I've been on CPAP for about 2 years now. It was very tough to get used to and the testing was a pain. But I stuck with it and really feel addicted to it now. Last year I was on a cruise and forgot to bring a critical part. So I had no CPAP and slept horribly.

  • It's like the cheesy educational videos that the CPAP companies make, but better! Great job explaining and thanks for posting this.

ps - smart mask selection. the new model of your mask is called the Quattro (just minor updates - quieter exhaust, bit better seal, fine-tune adjustment) - always good to stay on the replacement schedule.

  • the science is not quite what you said. In OSA, ur brain is still sending signals to the muscles around ur lungs (like the diaphragm) telling them to contract so u can breathe in. However, ur UPPER AIRWAY muscles aren't staying open when u fall asleep so no air can reach ur lungs in the first place! So basically, all the CPAP does is esssentially blow open those floppy upper airway muscles in ur throat allowing air to reach ur lungs and thus good old oxygen to enter ur bloodstream. VOILA! :)

  • This almost made me cry. I figured out today that i problaby am suffering from sleep apnea, and it feels really good to have an definition of what's wrong with me and knowing there's a way to help me. I understand perfectly the background-music, because i think that's how i would feel if i had a way out of my sleeping troubles and could finally have go to bed without having to worry about getting enough air.

  • Thanks for your help I have just been told I have obstructive sleep apnea and will get my cpap machine in one months time. You explain this condition well.

  • Shawn, Your video compelled me to actually signup for youtube in order to thank you for posting. Not a real dignifying situation and yet you went for it. I have my sleep study sched for next week. My wife says I'm so bad I'll no doubt need two machines. I'm excited about getting a good nights sleep for the first time in a long time. Thank you for the encouragement. Love the comments from others to you. Made me laugh. Regards. Todd

  • excellent video and nice bedroom :) im going to show this video to anyone who asks me what sleep apnea is , you have a different machine but they all work the same im quite new to cpap and yeh when i have my machine off its terrible but with it on its so amazing, normal lol . thats been years ive had sleep apnea and only went to the doctor about it 2 years ago and its taken all that time for tests appointments etc etc

  • GOOD ONE 107 HOUR 17 CFM AIR

  • That thing looks so freekin uncomfty...and whats up with the porno music in the background? lol

  • lol porno music

  • You might be ineterested to know that studies have shown that learning to play the didgeridoo (especially circular breathing) can really help this condition.

    watch?v=qxDYY3xWnIg

  • Damn, my dad got tested a few weeks ago, he averaged 242 times per hour

  • no dangly thing lol

  • OK seriously awesome "clapper" at the end =)

Other wise, just a great vid that is real insightful to what sleep apnea is about. Great job, I'm almost identical to you the only thing I would add is for the audience. Make sure you see a sleep specialist and make sure you see an ears nose mouth specialist before treatment.

  • hey, I'm a med student and I found your vid really helpful - thanks sooo much for posting this for our knowledge! It's really useful, and all the best!

    Amina

  • What would happen if the hose for the airflow came off while you were sleeping.

And you had the mask on with no air coming into it.

  • There's a continuous exhaust system (hole) so air is always escaping. If they didn't have that you would be rebreathing your exhaled air. Personally, I mega relate with this guy, so an added caveat is the exhaust noise has to be the most irritating noise to me since it is so close (darth vader).

  • in the uk we get the machines for free. all health care is free

  • Thanks. I get mine tomorrow.

  • no dangly thing!? o_o

  • In my study, I averaged 105 episodes per hour

  • I don't have insurance, so do I die whit out this? why do you charge so much??? bunch of money hungry pigs...

  • yeah welcome to the US. i had UPPP and LAUP surgery for apnea when i had insurance. now im not covered and need a cpap. i hear church run hospitals donate their old ones if u qualify. try that. i haven't had any luck yet...

  • Nice remSTAR plus unit. Did you get the humidifier replaced on the recall?

anyways, are you having the issues with the strap points on that model mask breaking?

  • yes, the strap broke one time over the last year... just got a replacement... the humidifier has been fine...what recall?

  • The fuse in the humidifier is faulty on the early ones of that model. Alot of people tend to fill the humidifier while its on the warming plate, water would get into the unit, short it out, and it would not blow the fuse.

It caused several units to catch on fire.

sorry for the long break and not noticing your reply.

To check to see if your affected, call respironics with your serial number.

some info in the next post.

  • Respironics, has received complaints of failures of the AC inlet connector on the REMstar Heated Humidifiers manufactured between December 2001 and April 2003. A small number of these failures have resulted in thermal damage to the humidifier enclosure, and there is a remote possibility that a thermal failure could result in the ignition of materials external to the device.

    This action includes only the model 1005792, U1005792, R1005792, SC1005792, AC1005792, and 1007861.

  • hope that helps. contact your home health care provider if you have one of the affected units.

  • How much was the surgery?

  • Thanks for posting this. I'm suffering intensly from sleep apnea. I'm only 38, I think I've had it most of my life but it seems to be getting to the very dangerous level. I'm waiting for the GD! insurance application to go through so I can go get treatment. I just hope I don't get one of those doctors who say "oh you don't have that, we don't need to test you" that's my biggest fear right now.

  • I did find one thing though . I no longer use that water heating thing because its annoying to refill it. What i use is a saline nasal spray. I refill it with filtered water. I spray two shots into each nostril and it does the exact same thing and it keeps everything moist since my mouth is strapped shut and the moisture cant really go far.

BigKinny: true traveling to NY i had to lug that thing onto the plane. not fun. then later the mask broke and tried to rig it to use it.

  • I have exactly the same machine except my mask is a bit different. Mine goes over the nose and has that blue gel membrane thing which fits quite well.

My problem is that i need to wear a chin strap underneath that to keep my mouth shut. Unfortunatley it rubs on my face and causes a rash. Any idea what to do? They dont seem to many anything else.

Also ive had to order 3 masks in the past since the clear connector breaks easily.

  • Won't the CPAP make you dependent on it and if you don't use it it will be impossible to breathe.i'm 16 and and I weigh like 125 and i think i have sleep apnea.

  • i would say you dont need to loose that much weight. maybe 10 or 15 pounds

  • Great video. I love youtube and the people like you how make this service grateful. i really didnt know I had sleep apnea, although I was sufferring from the symptoms. Currently i have High BP, Diabetes, etc... Recently my mom insisted me to check my condition to an ENT specialist in india. Then as a followup in US my doc. confirmed me as sleep apnea patient. Hope they do a surgery to me. I really look forward for next doc appointment so that i get CPAP or Surgery or Both.

  • Hey. I am considering the surgery and I had a question. Did it change your voice, specifically the resonance and such? I sing and don't want that to change, if at all possible...

  • Hello, my wife was just diagnosed with sleep apnea and now has this thing on her bedside table. She is having a very hard time getting used to wearing it. I don't think she's worn it for a full night yet. She says I also stop breathing in my sleep but I'm afraid of getting tested because I don't want to wear one of these damn things. To me, it's something foreign to have in bed with you, like an electric blanket (which I also hate and would never use). Are there alternatives other than surgery?

  • Look up 'Pillar Procedure'

  • I feel for your wife...I've tried using my CPAP machine for three years now, and cannot find a mask that I can sleep with. She might need to experiment with different masks until she finds one that is comfortable for her.

  • amazing. my cpap is the most incredible thing ever.

  • My words excatly!!!! thank GOD!! No more Uvula!, c-pap every night. The difference is life and death. REALLY!!

  • I was dxd with mild sleep apnea, but really I don't snore - the tech even said I didn't? It's strange really. I do take a rather large dose of a drug that is known to be really quite sedative & wonder if maybe that could of had some sort of effect on my test. I can't stop that drug, so off to try masks and air machines I guess it is for me...

  • Great vid. Congrats on your CPAP success. Keep up the good work. Keep letting people know so they aren't afraid or resistant to the pressure.

    Good luck.

Don't forget to go back in 2yrs or so for a recalibration. Most people need a bit of an increase by then.

  • if i can convince my dad to go to the doctor with me, i think he needs one of these. how much does a CPAP machine cost?

  • not sure of the price as I get mine free through the VA

  • $1500- my mom got one for free in canada but if it breaks we have to pay to replace it

  • ur funny! haha u seem like a great person to be friends with! and cpap looks funn! I was watching it learn more about it to mention it in some hospitals to use for babies since it's non invasive, and it has been proven to improves survival rate and severe lung diseases

  • I have my cpap test monday... I'm hoping this machine will work for me, I've been feeling horrible for years.

  • you were right doctor plastic its not double the pressure. the lady that called me to set up a day to install the bi-pap told me that. Its been 2 days and i cant sleep at all. The lady that came to set up my bi-pap set it up in a way that it starts out at 5.0 and increases so i can fall asleep before my actual pressure of 25 comes on. I cant sleep the way i usually sleep which is on my side because when the pressaure of 25 comes on its sooo much pressure that it leaks.

  • Thanks for posting. I had a great relationship with my consultant. She gave me the option of operation and cpap without guaranteed sucess saying that I would require a cpap anyway. Went for 'cpap anyway!' Im an ex professional sportsman, dont let consultants tell you your overweight without doing a body mass index using infra red, not outdated calapers!

  • what a coincidence that while i was trying to get all the info from videos like this that i just got a phone call regarding my bipap. I thought i was getting a cpap but just found out that since my case is severe that i have to get a bipap. they told me the difference is that the bipap has double the pressure. Im fucked!!!

  • BiPAP doesn't mean you have double the pressure. BiPAP is bi-level therapy...meaning there is one pressure when you inhale and a lower pressure when you exhale. BiPAP is usually easier to breath with.

  • I just got my test results in from the sleep center and i have a severe case of sleep apnea. The doctors are in talks with my insurance company to get me the cpap. The cpap at the sleep center was sooo uncomfortable. I guess i gotta get used to it now. Thanks for sharing the video and I hope i get used to it like you do.

  • great info on the CPAP video. Do you know how i can get started with this. Is there any sleep clinic in california that has a low income program for obstructive sleep apnea? (which I'm pretty sure i have). Also is the consultation free? if not how much? thanks ahead for the info.

  • thank youfor sharing your story

  • thanks for the video it has great info ... right now i'm going to school to become a Respiratory therapist.. i'm about 10 months into the program and thanks for the video.

  • Nice video. My problem is I get "dry mouth" 2 or 3 times a night and have to get up and take a sip of water. Also my water drys up before I wake up. I just bought a full room himidifier to see if it helps. Any other suggestions?

  • Hi, I am a sleep disorder specialist, what you can do is aks your DME (co that gave you CPAP machine) to add a heated humidifer to your CPAP unit.

  • Hey, thanks for your help. I will try a heated humidifer. It's still cold here in PA. Take-Care.

  • That's a Remstar Pro, isn't it? I have the M-series version, which is smaller and the patient interface connects from the rear. It has a dot-matrix graphical display.

  • thanks for sharing -- Im surprised even though you had surgery that you still need this. Also -- how much pain was involved in the surgery? Would the mask device work for you if you didnt have surgery??

  • Well. I am completely recovered. The surgery was horrible... post op pain was very bad.

The good thing is that my apnea is completely cured. I have had 2 sleep studies since the operations and I am not having anymore episodes. All in all, the surgery was worth it! I am remembering dreams and sleeping through the whole night.

The only thing I am having trouble with is fluid coming out of my nose. Especially when drinking from a water fountain. And forget about laughing with water in mouth

  • yeah, the water or other things out the nose was bad...took a year to get that really under control. Glad you are doing well

    Sean

  • @enjoytheride85 You're lucky the surgery worked for you. Most people still have apnea after the surgery. Did you have a UPPP?

  • thanks for posting this nice informative video; i just got my second CPAP machine (after not using my first machine after 2 weeks, ten years ago) a couple of months ago and love the difference in the new technology. i am using the CPAP with the nasal pillows and the heated humidifier. absolutely comfortable compared to that old first machine. i use my machine religiously now. after watching your video, i feel special now, not feeling so alone in having to use a cpap. thank you.

  • I can really tell the difference when i do and do not use my machine.

  • i can now, i have the latest model and i do miss using it (i fell asleep while watching t.v.). the humidifier also makes a big difference, even though at times, my nose runs in the morning. it energizes me when i constantly use the CPAP. i noticed i want to walk more.

  • ha! i used to have a remstar! Now i have a goodnight 420E apap. This is a great post, man. I'm glad you're doing well. I just loved the post. it's great to know how others with this are dealing with it!

  • is there a difference in the two?

  • the apap automatically adjusts the pressure... that's about all

  • Excellent Video. I love "The Clapper" totally caught me and made me laugh out loud.

  • LOL thanks..glad you liked the video.

  • man im going for my sleep study next week and the doctor told me hes sure i have sleep apnea and he said surgery might not work that i will need the cpap machine now how was the surgery for you , could u eat afterwards and im curious cause i had my tonsills out and i was sick afterwards thanks

  • How did your sleep study go?

  • great video on sleep apnea. I use the same cpap machine but a smaller one. luckly no surgery yet. keep um coming.

  • thank you

  • very informative sean just had all the surgery you had two days post op now and evry thing hurts ,ask around and the surgery dusnt seem that rare

  • thank you...how are you doing now?

  • I will keep relevant updates over the next few days. I have to ask... what food helped you the most after your surgery? Ice cream seems to do nothing but build up mucus. I am just praying this nasty scar is not permanent otherwise my doctor will not be receiving kind words from me.

  • how did every thing turn out?

  • well... its 3 days post op... I have to tell you it sucks.. a lot. If you went through pain like this man I feel for you. Its starting to get better, but yesterday was bad. I have a lot of white scarring around the incision sites in the back of my throat. All of this I can deal with. The main thing bothering my right now is this hideous looking incision on my lower neck. I was really upset to find they had done a skin closure with staples instead of subcutaneous sutures.

  • Great video. Very informative to people who don't know about sleep apnea. I am going in tomorrow morning (it is now 9:16PM and I am scheduled for surgery at 7:30AM) to have a uvulopharyngoplasty, partial median glossectomy, and a thyrohyoid suspension. I have already had two previous surgeries. I am sick at the thought of what is going to happen to me tomorrow.

Just one thing about the cpap, the positive airway pressure functions to hold open the soft tissues in your oral and nasopharynx.

  • Let us know how it went. Keep us up to date...

    Sean

  • Please can you tell me whether you were actually *aware* of waking up at night? I think I may have OSA, completely shattered during the day, but I'm not aware of waking up, but I do snore.

  • Yes, I would wake up choking and gasping for breath. It sux!

  • i have one of these machines but im so restless i keep pulling it off in my sleep. this video sounds ver batem to what i was told on three different occasions. three different people three different dates {months apart} same speech.sounds like somebody is selling a lot of these units. i'm not saying they don't work but maybe they are downplaying all the other alternatives.

  • sounds like a salesman.

  • salesman..haha...but good info..thanks

  • funny ending!

  • lol thanks

  • Thanks so much for this video. It is really helpful. I also have been diagnosed, but have refused the mask as I was a little afriad of it and worried I would not be able to sleep with it. This has helped alot.. has let me really see it differently.

And as for your fat comment... I don't see it, you look just right to me. You're adorable!

  • im one of those folks who cant breath very well with there nose thats a very interesting video thanks for posting.

  • Very informative. I was recently diagnosed with SA, and it took me 10 years before taking the step of going to an specialist, which I regret. I have a question, did you experience any change in your voice after having the surgery? Alex

  • nope... nothing I can hear and others have not said anything.

I can breath better and I sleep so well now!

  • Thanks for posting this.. I'm picking up my CPAP at the hospital tomorrow and I hope it makes as much of an improvement to me as it seems to for you and others I have seen.

Alot of people don't understand what a nightmare sleep Apnea is. It makes you permanently exhausted, like you're living in a semi-fog all the time.

Maybe tomorrow night I will find out what this 'refreshing sleep' thing I have heard rumours of, is all about.

    :)

  • Well, let me know how it works out for you! It sure helps me feel refreshed the next day!!!

    Sean

  • What did the results show?

    Good luck.

I had mine last night. I don't have SLEEP APNEA.

    YES!!!!!!!!!

  • overweight???

  • i can tell but he is not fat its just a bunch of pounds up than normal

  • I love you man. haha

  • Thank you!

  • Thank you thank you thank you for posting this video! I most likely have sleep apnea as well, and have been apprehensive about having my sleep study done... but more and more I'm realizing that its not as scary as I think it's going to be... and neither is using the CPAP. I heard they were noisy, but I suppose its kind of like a white noise.

How about people who sleep on their stomachs?? How would a CPAP work then? :/

  • I am a stomach sleeper... it is easy...I will do a video soon to show. and yes, it is like white noise. Thanks for the comment.

  • Thanks for posting this, very informative! I think I need one of these and my doctor has mentioned it also. I wondered how it worked, and found your video. Now I know more! Thanks again!! -Tammy from Iowa

  • Dude, I use the same machine for over 3 years. Year ago I saw a Doctor trying to go for a surgery. He said 2 things that made me forget about the procedure:

    1) "You will suffer a big pain for over two weeks pos surgery, something really painful, that you can't even go to work";

    2) "The success of this surgery is something around 50%, in other words, may not work at all.

    Is this all true???

  • I would go through ALL the pain again because of the POSITIVE results!

True about the 50% thing. I have to also LOSE weight to help myself.

The CPAP is part of my life and it would feel STRANGE for me to sleep without it!

It was the best thing I have ever done for MYSELF in my life.

I would do it if I were you! Keep me up to date if you do it.

  • Has anyone tried ResMed machines? i use one. it is very reliable, portable, easy to use and comfortable.

  • I have a ResMed machine that I have been using for 2 years now. As you say, it is very reliable, portable & very easy to use. I have taken it w/me on trips, though finding an electrical outlet & space to place next to the bed has been quite a challenge! Come on, hotel people! There are more of us than you think! Sorry about the "thumbs up/down thing I hit the wrong one! Excellent video, btw, Sean!

  • Do you ever get tired of the CPAP machine?

Does it ever keep you awake?

    GOD BLESS

  • Actually, it keeps me asleep. I notice that when I sleep over at a friends house, or I fall asleep with out it...I do not sleep as well and do not feel REFRESHED ...so I use it all the time..it keeps me asleep and I FEEL REFRESHED after I use it at night!!!

  • Sean I am a Sleep Technician. I can understand the confusion caused by going through the ENT surgical option, only to still be on CPAP despite the fact that you feel yourself being able to breathe better than ever. During the night when we fall asleep, we tend to stop fighting to breathe (you don't feel it its like standing up w. your shoulders straight) and there can still be obstructive tissue near the trachea that can not be removed surgically to my knowledge. Good Luck and hope this helps!

  • I think after losing weight I will feel even better. I will still use the CPAP... it is part of me now!

  • I'm going to be tested at a sleep study and I'm wondering if I have this disorder. My doctor suggested one of these machines over doing any surgery.

  • How did this workout for you? I love my CPAP! Glad I had this surgery!

  • Hi Sean. I give you a lot of credit for being able to sleep with that thing. I have experienced something similiar. I don't want to go into detail but in short. I Quit. I think that the whole cpap thing is a lot of hooey!!! that's my experience with it.

    Good Luck to you!!!

  • I am glad you tried it... I hated it for months...I used it and even used the RAMP feature. Only after months of using it did I get use to it! Might want to try it again...I had to get the full face mask for me to feel like it is part of me now!
