  • Those "staples" you refer to are actually rail anchors. Their purpose is twofold: first, to prevent the ties from creeping out of alignment and getting the track gauge too narrow, and to restrain the welded rail from expanding and causing the track to kink.

  • I missed the rail resurfacing in Ypsilanti. and don't know where it's going on now, so I'm afraid I won't be able to get a video of it in the foreseeable future. sorry!

  • Great video and very informational! Thank you for your time you put into this video. I am hoping that you also do a video of work crews resurfacing tracks.  From what I have learned this repair work will allow trains to reach 60 MPH. I often wondered what other upgrades need to be done for HSR. Thanks again!
