  • But you have wonderful thick hair like Gretchen so it works

  • Inherited among other things my mothers Velcro rollers. They have been packed up in the closet for years but yesterday I pulled them out and followed this tutorial. My long layered hair turned out great and I enjoyed the special feeling of using my mothers rollers

  • Thank you, love your video. You are amazing.

  • I love Gretchens hair...wish I had more time in the morning to do that to my hair. Thanks for excellent tutorial.

  • you seem so sweet. Thank you so much for the videos-I always watch the show and wondered how to do their makeup (which I love!) and their hair. You did a great job! Thanks

  • hello, i LOVE this look and it came out beautiful!

i am just curious because i want to start doing this hairdo a few days a week... how long does this hairdo take to do? how much time can i expect to spend on it in the morning? thank you very much :)

  • Great video! I always try to do this look without really knowing how. Im excited to try it. I also love the makeup video. Keep your great tips coming.

  • this is a fantastic video, you did an absolutely perfect job recreating gretchen's look! I actually have super long blonde hair with a deep side part and big side bangs going across my forehead and I am going to be doing this look for sure in the next couple days.

i love your videos and it's really apparent how smart you are, which is really refreshing in the pool of youtube makeup gurus. <3

  • Holy Crap u talk so much! lol

  • I'm so happy i found you, I love this tutorial and I love all ur videos.. I sub :)

  • Great hair!!!! I love this :)

  • Love it! I've tried using velcro rollers before, but never achieved that kind of a look. I don't know how the housewives do this every day, LOL. Thanks for the tutorial! :)

  • Tyler's laugh at the end was so funny. Great video as always.

  • Looks beautiful ......thanks for showing us how......xoxo

  • hi Emily, do you mind my asking what

ethnicity are you ? You're so pretty.

  • love this look! I can not wait until my hair is long enough to try it! :)

  • Pretty!

  • Gretchen is my favorite housewife! Love her hair and her makeup. I use velco rollers sometimes and never get volume like this, thank you for this tutorial!

  • loved it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Being a REAL housewife and business-girl, I haven't spent time on my looks in years. I came across your videos on hair and make-up and decided I deserved a housewives make-over. The results... DAMN! I haven't looked or felt so sexy for years. Thanks for the inspiration! I'm pretty sure my husband would say thanks too... but, he's, um... busy ;)

  • I'm a housewife who likes to look her best. Getting up and dressed for the day in something cute reminds me I have a job to do. Also I'm ready for anything pretty much all the time :) Love it!

  • i just currently came across your tutorials and LOVE that you use real products from sally's and walmart. places where 80% of the population shops!

  • I wear my hair this way everyday to work. I use hot rollers and can get them all rolled in about 3 minutes. It's a beautiful look Emily.

  • Awesome video!!!! You look amazing, just gorgeous!!! TY for the tutorial! I'm gonna give it a try :)

  • you have beautiful hair!

  • I think I have that exact curling iron!!

  • thk 4 this tutorial!

  • Lol @ Tyler laughing when you dropped something at the end

  • Love it! You have great hair!

  • Great tutorial but the blooper at the end was the best part...hehehe!! I could hear your hubby laugh in the background!

  • thanks, how is your hair cut?

  • wow, aren't you just a shampoo commercial! gorgeous! thank you for all that work. the tutorial was great.

  • Hey awesome tut! Hve you ever tried any of the folicure line from sallys? Supposed to be volumizing?

  • Your gorgeous! You remind me of Jacqueline from the Real Housewives of NY!

  • Has anyone told you that you actually look like Gretchen?? Wow!

  • my husband tells me I look like I stepped out of a UFO when I do this look...LOL

  • love it.

  • WOW! that was like magic! wonderful job! so much work though lol

  • so pretty! thanks for this tutorial!! : )

  • Holy smokes--that bobby pin trick really worked! Your hair looks all smooth and glossy--from a bobby pin!

  • gorgeous! and wow i love your natural hair too! :D

  • GoRgEoUs!!!!

  • OMG.

your hair is so beautiful itself without the rollers etc. in it

don't get me wrong, i love the curly hair too but omgosh your hair is really to die for...

i can't even blowdry my hair bcus otherwise i will look like some witch that never runs a comb through her hair hehe.. :( thank you for this tutorial.

    love it as always!

  • I love your hair! Just added this video to my favorite to refer to on Saturday night : ) Great job!

p.s. I love the bloopers you add onto the end of videos hehe

  • your hair looks great!

  • I want your hair.

I would wear it like this more often if I were you

  • I would kill to have your hair... my hair is so full, has a natural wave and looks like a lions mane when I blow dry... soooo depressing!

  • I feel your pain.

  • Same! and not a good natural wave, right? More like a stuck in a windstorm wave. mine's coarse too.

  • yeah - if I do nothing to it, it looks like a cheap wig that went through the spin cycle lmao. Straitening is such a pain in the butt too... it takes FOREVER because Its so much hair haha! It also grows really fast... If I had to guess I'd say my hair probably grows about 2 inches per month.

  • We sound so horrible--We have so much thick wavy hair--poor us!

  • i am going to try this look for thanksgiving dinner at my fiance's dads house. LOVE THE LOOK

  • SO BEAUTIFUL!

I'm excited for a Carrie Underwood look :)

  • Do a Thanksgiving vlog with Tyler!!!!

  • hey emily can u pls do a tutorial on how u blowdry ur hair!!

  • honestly i think you look better at the beginning of the video with the straight flat hair.

  • I love your tutorials with velco rollers! Your hair looks amazing. I've got some to try out with all different sizes from a chinese shop (the equivalent of a dollar store here in Spain).

I don't have a curling iron, but I have a FHI Heat flat iron that has a curved edge so does curls too. Do you think that will work also? I've looked everywhere for those pick hair thingys.. but with no luck :( but am going to Sally's when I go back to the UK for Christmas next month! Thanks, great tutorial :)

  • Knowing that your Mom was a cosmetologist explains your skill and also your love of hair and makeup. Thanks for sharing Emily.

  • Very nice...I think I'm going to try this. You have really fabulous healthy looking hair btw.

  • haha was that tyler laughing at the end? :-)

  • Hair looks fantastic. I hope you had somewhere to go out to after so much effort, that Husband of yours should at least have taken you out to dinner to show you off. I love your hair videos. My hair is not the same but relatively similar and you give me loads of ideas. I have even had Bumpits sent to me in the UK to copy your tutorials. :-)

  • Whoa Jersey girl! You look great even if this style is not for me. :D :D

  • This is such an interesting take on velcro rollers, I've never even thought of curling my hair first and using the heat from that. I've always put the velcro rollers in with wet hair. I totally have to try this, great idea!

  • Very nice, I like it alot :)

  • this is very pretty! seems very similar to your normal hair :)

  • so cute!

  • Such a pretty look but definitely more of a pageant, bouffant-type hairstyle because of the amount of height at the crown. It seems like the housewives have looser not so stiff/formed hair. I think it would modernize the style (not so 80's) if you kept a looser curl, sleeked it out at top a bit more & used a texturizing product to define & separate the ends.

  • So I tried this hair style and it didnt come out the way I thought it would... But I think I need to practice using rollers more.. Thanks Emily for the tutorial!

  • that looks AMAZING with your face shape

  • your hair looks so healthy beautiful! the cut shape really flatters your face nicely as well. (I look forward to your Carrie Underwood looks!!)

    thanks for another helpful video!

  • you have very pretty hair in all aspects, health, color, etc.......

  • That's a pretty 'do! It's ready to party like it's 1989!

  • OMG, LMAO @ 1989!!

  • I was thinking the same thing

  • cute!!!

  • your hair looks better than hers. i love it.

  • You are so pretty. I love this look.

  • love the volume i gotta try this...hopefully my hair don't all apart

  • you are gorgeous!!! way more beautiful than those housewives! <3

  • Good job with this style! Tyler laughing at you at the end was great!

  • y does ur hair look sooo shiny and healthy

    omfg im sooo jealous

    even after u curl it

    its sooo perfect !!

  • Great vid!! thanx for the hair styling tips...u are way prettier than that chick in the mag.

funny bloop at the end of the vid..lol

  • hey, loving the look! i love your hair color.. is it still that nutmeg color?

  • great tutorial! loved it!

  • that looks so 80s. it's cute =]

  • I completely love your hair better than the pic.

By the way, big hair is making a big come back, it's not just for the older ladies anymore. Look at bumpitz. Everyone wants the "big hollywood" hair. I think it's gorgeous on you Em. Thanks a bunch.

  • Very nice look, I´m glad you made another hair tutorial !

  • Sorry, but this look makes you ladies (Gretchen as well) look much older than you are.

This look says southern gal in her mid 50's.

  • this is soooo cute! and so informative

    my hair always falls flat

but now i something to refer back to

    thank you soooo much!

  • This is really cute. I like when you do hair videos

  • Yes! A hair tutorial! Thanks, Emily!

  • You are billion Xs prettier than Gretchen.

    :)

  • u sound just like a news anchor.

  • She IS a news anchor :)

  • She is one. =D

  • Wish I had long hair haha! but I love the techniques, i'm always a tad confused with the velcro rollers

  • Emily,

Q: Have you ever tried or considered trying the Enzo Milano curling iron 'wand'?

Does ANYONE have any feedback about the Enzo Milano curling iron? Is it really worth the money, because they are rather pricey. However, I love the tutorials and end look from them all.

ENZO MILANO- please give me your thoughts.

Thank you very much to anyone for any suggestions.

    :)

  • I have an Enzo Milano and i think its really good.. its so much easier for me because i cant use curling irons at all..Im horrible. so if you have trouble with curling irons you should try it..i used this alot through college where people didnt really know me and they thought my hair was naturally cury because it looks so natrual..

yes it is very pricey but just search around online and you can find way cheaper ones because thats what I did

  • Brittybabybear,

    Thank you so much.

Q: May I ask where you found the best deals? (ebay, amazon, etc...)

Q: Also, What size barrel do you have?

    I really appreciate your feedback.!

  • OMG, it is uncanny how much you look like a housewife!! Super cute!

  • OMG its just like Gretchens hair. Love it . Thanks!

  • Emily,

Q: How do you get your hair so shiney?

(for the millionth time of me asking) LoL

  • OMG the 80s are back..lol

  • I can't help myself, but I absolutely love the 80s bigger hair. LoL Well, maybe minus the big bangs and crimped hair.

LoL ;) Ah, I love big hair. ;)

  • Thank you so much for this video!! I have always wanted to do this look but have never been able to achieve it. And thank you for all the tutorials!!

  • I love this hair look Emily.

Hot rollers help me multitask but my curls never really last all day. Think i need a new hot roller set that curls.

  • I love this look. When I "do" my hair I use this technique. You can use hot rollers in stead of velcrow rollers to get this look and it will save you TONS of time. Maybe 5 min to roll it instead of 20.

  • the end was cute! you did a really good job!! and you look great! =)

  • beautiful!!!! i think your hair looks so much better than the picture!!!

  • wow...your hair has a ton of volume but does not look thin to try to achieve it. 5*

  • Loved the look but also really liked the way you look with your hair blown out totally straight in the beginning of the vid :)

  • omg ive been looking for this!!

  • Your Hair is Gorgeous!! Awesome Hair Tutorial!

  • Love that hair!!! Thanks :o)

  • Love this video! thanks so much for making it :)

  • Hi Emily, thank you. What did you spritz the hair with after you rolled it. Thanks,,,

  • looks a little too "60s housewife"

  • the end lol I can hear you husband laughing.BTW i love love love your hair color i usually style my hair similar to this with the exception of the teasing thanks for the tutorial emily!

  • Ugh, your hair is so beautiful!

  • Emily this look is gorgeous! (and so are you :3) I generally like to curl my hair with my flat iron, because its super heated they tend to hold better- but then it inevitably falls flat at the roots:( For whatever reason, I guess flat irons have a tendency to do that, now I know how to fix this problem! Thank you soooo much!

  • Did you dye your hair again, Emily? It looks great! What do you use?

Love the big hair too! xo

  • Emily you are awesome. I love your sense of humor, the way you explain things. You have officially won me! Kisses and hugs!

  • So lovely!

  • gorgeous :)

  • LOVE this hair look. I'm going to try it out but my hair won't curl for the life of me so we'll see haha. You did a great job, though! 5 stars!
