  • another note is that these are 'reference speakers' they technically shouldnt be your primary speakers. They should just be used as a reference so if you really just want speakers with no problems you need to drop some dough!

  • Thanx for tha info bro! i just got mines today lol

i read a review on guitar center and it said that if you leave em on for a while the result in the speakers end up in heat and that the heat can loosen up the capacitors in em.....have you expiernecd anything of that nature?

  • As far as the yellow goes, I would argue also that Behringer's logo is black and yellow. They can get away with it. heh. Great review. I'm doing some research, and building a list of gear I'm after. These just made the list.

  • Hey man i have the same speakers. I want start making but, i have a little trouble with those speakers. when i put a good rap song with some i don't heard the base. Can you just help me please???? I must pay a subwoofer?

  • @MrCandry Probably should get a sub. These speakers are flat for the sole purpose of monitoring your mix, not for casual listening. Though you can probably boost the base a bit with the eq on the back of the speakers.

  • @Swidhelm Yeah but,i already boost the base in the back of my speakers but it still the same

  • @MrCandry Yeah. Definitely not speakers for casual listening. Meant to be more crisp and clean. I find good speakers for hip hop are vintage speakers. Some of them have kick ass bass response and a warmth that even many modern speakers don't have. I used to have a pair--can't remember the brand--of these very retro speakers my step dad had bought. They were ugly, with what looked like a tweed cover over the fronts. But they sounded awesome for hip hop.

  • @Swidhelm Maybe it's the KRK... But thanks for the info bro!

  • @MrCandry No prob. Yeah, from what I hear the KRK Rokit 5's have more punchy bass.

  • @Swidhelm Okay. Because I hesitated to buy them, i dont know if i buy them or not.

  • @MrCandry I've no personal experience with them, so don't take my word for it. I'm researching reference monitors because I'm after a pair. I've been watching reviews here and reading about them in forums.

watch?v=XfD7RnC7P6Q&feature=related about studio monitors in general. Interesting to watch.

watch?v=CJuNkTi1Akg KRK extrusion vid. Might give you a better indication of the bass response.

  • @Swidhelm Waahoooo.. Thanks a lot for these video bro ;-)

  • hey man.. can you tell me if i can connect the B1030A to my computer using the BEHRINGER U-CONTROL UCA 222 and the SSSNAKE SPR2050? if not can you tell me a way to conect them with usb? thanks in advance

  • What an excellent review, thanks 8-)

  • Ordering a Focusrite Saffire Pro 40 and a pair of these moniters. Any advice on something better for my budget? I am a beginner just trying to get some demos done for my punk band

  • Equator Audio D5 - check them out.

  • Are they any good for just everyday listen to mp3's etc on your computer?

cause 90% of the time I listen to music through my system and the rest

I'm making music, so I'm confused what kind of speakers to buy for my newly acquired M-Audio Fast Track Pro sound card, any hint?

  • More importantly is that you "LEARN" your monitors. Listen to other music through your monitors and learn the frequencies your monitors express more vibrantly. Of course beastly monitors are cool if you have the cash, but if you gotta get these then do it!

  • I have the degidesign m-box mini. and it has two 1/4'' outputs. which cable would i need to connect it to the TRUTHS? would i need just two separate 1/4'' cables, and it would work? Thanks a mill.

  • @DovMaslow Yes. Use two balanced TRS 1/4" cables into the Truths.

  • Graham , I have the same monitors and they have potential , good review , good info , thanks ...

  • Awesome Info..U Sold me ..im Buying these Puppies !!!.

  • Just got these, well the 8 inch version. Damn they are huge! Laptop, speakers, 49 keys midi keyboard on my desk? Thats gonna be hard! Gotta get some stands. Thanks for the review though!

  • Hey! Just wana say thank you so much for your review.

As soon i saw the video, I bought these speakers and they sound beautiful and clear !

they do an amazing job for the price :)

  • Man you shure know stuff about recording and stuff, i give you that...but Behringer is the low end of audio/studio monitors market, maybe for the price they are decent but dont make them look like they are great, you will make some of the users watch this video buy them like they are the best. Adam (ax series) Focals, Genelec, Dynaaudio will run circles around any behringer speaker like np, and you know the rule, spend as much as you can on a monitors, because you will prooly keep them long etc.

  • @26psyside I don't subscribe to the rule, "Spend as much as you can on monitors" because I don't believe that is what is holding people back from making better recordings/mixes.

  • @26psyside I bought Behringer monitors (stupid choice, but, hey i thought monitors couldnt be worse then my hi-fi speakers, well guess what? I WAS TOTALLY WRONG) they are horrible!!

i use my hi-fi speakers here at home, and i can instantly tell if something rocks or not. if you are recording realtime instruments, and you need to be careful with mic placements, its impossible to judge if you are "good" or "bad" with shitty monitors, like Behringers forexample.

    For mixing they work ok.

  • Great review.

I got a pair after seeing this review.

    Cheers

  • Awesome. Wish more reviews were like this one.

  • I hear these get over heated if left on for a few hours? is that true?

  • Hey man, very good video thanks for this.

I just bought a pair because of your review and i must confess you totaly right!

i think it is the the best monitor you can get for this price.

  • Nice review!

  • nice sick review

  • Thanks for the video, grate information and details...would it be ok to use them with Xenyx 1202FX mixer...I use Studio One Presonus and PC...

  • Great tutorial, but is it worth the money if i wanna mix/mastering music?

  • You really help me to chose my studio monitors. Perfect review, waiting for more stuff!

  • Nice. Bought a pair on Ebay today. Can't wait...

  • hey man a quick question for you. I am planning on buying studio monitors and these are on my list of possible choices. But I don't know if I should buy the 5" or 8" version. I have a small, untreated room. I always had problems with low end in my mixes and I want to hear it clearly and i'm afraid that the 5" won't be enough. On the other hand I have a small room. What can you say about it? It's a nice review btw, I enjoyed watching it.

  • @nogare35 It's really a preference thing. I mix better on the 5 inch speakers in my small room. I would start there.

  • @nogare35 Go with the KRK's>>5 inch>Your mixes will come out clearer>You dont wanna get ANY large speaker in a small room>because you'll deal with more frequency waves bouncing around the room>and your mixes will come out bad every time. Hope that helps

  • @nogare35 dont buy these monitors buy the krk rokits or the Yamaha HS50M 5"

  • @cure249 oh so I did buy the krk's :)

  • @cure249

Or Adam A3x, which is better then both :)

  • can u plug in a sub in to these speakers? if so how?

  • hey, i just got this speakers... and they, when turned on, have a high frequency white noise... its not loud, but in the middle of the night its kind of annoying! ddo you think it might be the cables? coz i dont have any others to check... do you have the same problem ? would really apreciate you word on this...

  • @MrRidisc It's not uncommon for speakers to have a low level noise to them when turned on, but if it's loud, then that's something else. Are you using balanced cables? (TRS or XLR).

  • @recordingrevolution sorry for the delay! yes, im using trs cables... but they are diferent, i still have not had a chance to get a new pair! and i switched them and the buzz switched aswell! is i do beleave (and hope) that this is it...

  • @MrRidisc , @recordingrevolution

I've got the same problem, and it's with both balanced and unbalaced 1/4''. From what I've heard there can be noise when the power cables aren't properly grounded.

    Other than that, love em.

  • Whats the low end response? Would you ever consider using a sub with these?

  • @cileth I don't mix with a sub, just not used to it. Low end response is what I'm used to, so I can mix fine with 5 inch speakers.

  • Turntable to preamp then to these speakers???

  • hey man, I am torn between these Behringer and samson resolv A5. It's pretty much the same price so can you compare for me? thanks in advance.

  • @weshanti If the features are the same and price is the same, then it really is a toss up. Just pick a pair and learn them. Don't worry too much about which one.

  • but how is tha bass?????? really! need to know!! plus what's the frequency response on them??? i think thats how you say it... but i cant find it anywhere...

  • @MrRidisc Bass response is pretty nice for a small pair of speakers. More information for these can be found at Behringer's website.

  • thanks! really considering buying these now!!!

  • Hey Graham, I am looking to get a pair of monitors but I am torn between these Behringer Truths and the KRK Rokit. The room compensation feature on these seems amazing so I am currently more swayed towards the Behringers, but I noticed that the bass port on the KRK's is on the front whist on the Behringer's they are on the back. What is the difference?

If you could clear that up for me it then that would be great.

    Regards,

    Daniel.

  • @Squirrel160990 Hi Daniel, you honestly can't go wrong with either. Very similar speakers. Just pick one that you can get the best deal on and enjoy!

  • @recordingrevolution So is there no difference in sound due to the bass ports being in different places?

  • @Squirrel160990 I'm sure there is slightly, but at the end of the day it won't affect your mixes. You have to learn whatever speakers you get anyway.

  • @recordingrevolution ah right, well in that case I'm going to be getting a pair of these! Thanks for your advice, really helped my decision!

  • @Squirrel160990 I have the krk rp8 g2 and they sound very good. I m not a really a fan of Behringer (personally I think these are just fake krk's ;))

  • Great review. I'm buying a pair this weekend. I'm picking them over the KRK Rokit 5's. I don't believe these to be a Rokit clone. It wouldn't make sense; these are almost the same price. btw Graham- did that monitor you were holding get heavy?

  • Remember to check your mix on as many systems as you can regardless of what speakers/headphones you own.

  • Is It Too Much To Be Quiet If You Have Nothing Informative To Say? I Have MUCH More Expensive Monitors But Frankly I Wish I Had Seen This Review And Tried These Out Beforehand. Ive Been Frequenting Many Big Name Producers Home Studio's Recently And Have Recorded On All Levels Of Gear. When I Play Back The Music I Really Cant Tell You Who Used What. Its Not All About The Gear Folks.

  • You are great dude! keep doing videos!.

  • He man, great review! Really cool how much you know about sound. I am a techno/minimal producer and I work alot with low kicks and low subbaselines. When I produce, I always use my RELOOP RH3500 (headset) for mixdown.. I know it's not really a good headset for mixdown so now I am really searching for a change. I am not a professional producer.. but I have two year of experience.. do you think that these speakers can give some positive change?

  • Eventually there would have to be a video from you, that i must disagree with.

Did you test any other speakers before chosing Behringer?

Because i did and the only thing speaking for Behringer is the price.

And if you buy cheap you buy twice ;)

And since they are about the cheapest active nearfield monitor speakers you can get, they dont compare to the other ones.

Add a few bucks and you can go for a pair of HS50M.

I would be surprised, if anyone went for the Behringers in A/B comparison.

  • @Account3of7 Yes I have tested and used other speakers before these Behringers. I would go for other speakers in this price range as well (KRK, M-Audio, Alesis, all have speakers that cost the same). If you can't get a great mix out of these speakers, then speakers aren't your problem.

Now you may certainly use more expensive studio monitors that are fantastic. No harm in that. Point is, you don't need them. Don't fall for brand snobbery.

  • @recordingrevolution

Im just sayin' im surprised you went for the Behringer. Since all producers i know and value would invest a few more bucks and not stick with the el-cheapo Behringers. Sure they make good products. But these particular dont stand a competition to others in thier price range in MY opinion...

I consider you one of those guys. I like and respect your attitude your efforts, your knowledge and your music in general. Im no brand snob either. I always test blind to not become one!

  • @Account3of7 These are what I am currently using. As someone who runs a pro audio blog I try to use many products if i can so I can review them and help readers make decisions. These Behringers were ones that I knew I wanted to try out for myself so I could give a solid review. I could care less what brand they are.

I will use them for now unti I review another set of speakers, if I do :-)

  • @Account3of7 But when you compare speaker A vs. speaker B, when speaker B costs twice as much...you're not comparing apples to apples.

  • @SpeedKing2281

Why not? Its comparing a cheap, bad apple to a better, more expensive apple!

When you are on a fixed budget that low, you'd pretty much have to stick with 'em for a while.

Using deficient equipment favors bad habits. Imo, its always worth the additional charge from cheapest crap to halfway decent gear, especially if you take it seriously, like Graham does. Nothing wrong in buying cheap stuff to start with. Eventually claims will grow, so will the need for better gear.

  • I use and love these

  • behringers suck balls go with yamaha adam or genelecs or to save m audio

  • I was torn between these and the M-Audio BX5a deluxes..........

I ended up buying the M-audios', but I dont think either were bad choices......

  • @christianfilips now im stuck in the same situation! shure they look great! from what i've read they are really good for its price! but everybody that i know that understands about this sort of stuff better then me... just from mention the name behringer they instantly say 'stop right there, dont get behringer'!! and the only thing i found in the same price range are the m audio bx5a... from a decent brand that has good products! but i really dont know what to choose...

  • @MrRidisc

Well, I do love them my m-audio's, but gram's got some nice monitors too.... I do wish I have that slight adjustment on the back.

I'm really not sure why, but I used to think beringer=crap. I've come to love there live equipment, so I might give them a chance in the studio sometime.

other than that I considered the 'alesis one MKII', which are passive so I would need a monitoring amp...... but from the reviews the alesis's break easy.

    good luck

  • krk look at likes, and kevlar comes in white to, i use to work for coat north american tread planet, we made kevlar and it is white before we dye it yellow, then put the special coating on the tread to make it kevlar, really you can make kevlar any color. kevlar is only kevlar, because of the special coating that is apply after and the heat treatment. I hated that shit , because when the machine sometime get tangled in it and it is hard to cut with a razor to clean up the machine.

  • Looks like a Krk Fake ;D

  • unsubscribed.

  • Thanks! Will look into these.

  • Those look nice. Nice features on the back of the monitors. Hey, Graham, I really got a lot out of your 30 days to a better mix!!! Thanks a million.

  • I Used the 1030A for few months..Nothing wrong for near range desktop use...Perfect for its size... Very strong tight bass... Mid Range is thin.. Highs are Bright... For its Prize..its as good as YamahaHS50...Or KRK RP5..... The Price is very decent.

  • I stay away from Behringer products. Just had lots of bad luck. Alesis too. They either heat up too hot, cause distortion, or do not last long. Have not tried the monitors reviewed here thjough.

  • @kernman2 Depends what you get, some of their stuff is fine but the more specific quality-heavy products arent up to sratch as much as dedicated specific hardware companies. I personally prefer M-Audio kevlar monitors cause I got them cheaper, so I grabbed 8" models at that with a better bass and mid range flatness with a nice smooth amoutn of high freqs on the tweet as well. Running balanced output its great for movies, music, and i play guitar personally which sound great on flat response!
