Japan built up Korea. There were fewer than 100 schools in Korea in 1910. Japan built more than 5,000. Literacy rose from 1% to 44%. Life expectancy and population also increased.

Koreans were never forced to change their names to Japanese, and many famous Koreans did not.

Koreans were taught Hangul under Japan, but before 1894, Hangul was banned.

There is a legal process by which zainichi can become citizens. The reason they do not become Japanese is to avoid taxes that citizens pay. They want the right to vote in Japan, but they do not want to pay the same tax as Japanese.

Also, why do zainichi need special schools? They want to keep themselves apart and then complain about discrimination.
