I've been in bands and doing pro audio since the early 80s, so I've pretty much heard the evolution of most of it and now I have to stand in front of large scale sound systems and I can't tell you how it pains me to hear DJ's take the headphone out of their laptops and play MP3s through my $5,000 speakers!

I don't know why she didn't personally prefer to be in the limelight, but I think she's amazing, still....after all these years. I used to dance around the house to her tunes! And run!
Cathy Dennis' career is over 20 years. In fact she wrote several of Britney's hits. She's also written for S Club, N'sync, Kelly Clarkson, and so on. She is the most prolific song writer to come out of the UK.

When people say that she is "better" than Britney, I laugh, seeing as a comparison of hits, album sales, and tours leaves Cathy trailing. Britney has been around 12 years now and had a major comeback when everyone thought she was done. In another ten years, she will have the status of Madonna or Cher.
Well let's see. Cathy Dennis started as a performer in 1988, and did not quit releasing albums until..... well, never. So that's over 20 years. Cathy still wins.

And yes I miss it too but it went out of style by the mid-90s. It was replaced with Europop and Emo music, plus girl/boy bands.

@loveunderlaw She's a really successful British music producer now since these days. She's done great. She has great songwriting talent. I don't know why she didn't personally prefer to be in the limelight, but I think she's amazing, still....after all these years. I used to dance around the house to her tunes! And run!

Cathy Dennis' career is over 20 years. In fact she wrote several of Britney's hits. She's also written for S Club, N'sync, Kelly Clarkson, and so on. She is the most prolific song writer to come out of the UK.

@harleykman I am aware of her success as a songwriter. My comment was in regards to her as a performer compared to Britney. When people say that she is "better" than Britney, I laugh, seeing as a comparison of hits, album sales, and tours leaves Cathy trailing. Britney has been around 12 years now and had a major comeback when everyone thought she was done. In another ten years, she will have the status of Madonna or Cher.

Well let's see. Cathy Dennis started as a performer in 1988, and did not quit releasing albums until..... well, never. So that's over 20 years. Cathy still wins.
As for Britney, while I agree she'll probably be performing when she's Cathy's age (40s), it's also possible she'll hit a dry spell and disappear next year. We cannot predict the future

@harleykman hm, no, I think you just can't handle the truth. If Cathy is indeed still releasing albums, then she has hit that dry spell in which you just referred happening to Britney one day. I think I won this argument when I said to compare chart hits, album sales, and tour sales. looks like I win and you lose. unless you can tell me that Cathy has had more hits, sold more albums, and has sold out more concerts than Brit. And of course had the proof to back it up.

@harleykman doesn't matter because that only proves, in your opinion, that eye candy surpasses talent. If what you say is true, Cathy's talent is void next to the eye candy that is Britney. You can rework your opinion anyway you like, but it doesn't change the fact that Britney is more successful. Hate it if you want, but you can't change it.

@Vauthier What's wrong with Cathy Dennis? She's gorgeous AND can sing!! Of course, I'm one of those odd people who also thinks that Britney Spears has a cool voice.
