It's a 3D print of a hyperboloid. It's DIY mounting bracket for the flux capacitor in a DeLorean. Or it can just be used to show off some printing capabilities and look interesting or pretty.
@jhonlagunez Sure, ABS and PLA can be used for lots of gear applications, depending on your specific requirements. The gear needs to be large enough for the printer resolution of course. The belt pulleys and extruder gears on the Prusa itself can (and usually are) printed ones. I think there are even some parametric gear objects on thingiverse.
Host software is an older version of repsnapper. It's only used to turn on the heat and start the print though, the gcode is read directly from the RAMPS onboard SD card reader.
