  • Heres my guess:

Judging by the front number plate, late 90's, 96-99. The tank is from a 00-02, I have a 98, and its obviously not that model. The front and rear fender also lead me to late 90s... Exact guess is 98.

  • no you dumb asses its probably a 96 - 98

  • Somewhere in the region of 1623? How close am I? Haha 1994 wait till I get my one up I've just finished it, believe me sticker kits make them look years newer. I'm yet to get the pipe

  • 2012 probably

  • let me guess its a 1994

  • it looks like 97 or a 98 the forks are up side down 96 and 95 they were right side up but in 97 they fliped them and in 99 the fliped the back look at the vin and the 10th number of the vin tells u the year if its a 7 it will be a 97 if its a 8 it will be a 98

  • thats a 1994

  • 1994 because my father has one exactly like that

  • Can someone help me out please? I bought the same model a few weeks ago and i cannot figure out the exact year. I know its between 98-00 but there are no other identifying markers. I was once told u can tell by the vin#. The first few characters of my vin is JS1RJ. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Right side up forks, but newer shrouds so I'm gonna say 1998

  • 2000. same seat as my 125

  • thats a 98 look at the gas take fins the bottom cut looks like a u in 98 they did that u cut on them. and befor 98 the hade the slanded u and in 99 thay went back with a lager u cut that was slanted

  • 1995 or 97?

  • it runs and sounds like an 89 but the plastics looke like they are from like 98 or 99

  • for some reason i want to say 2002

  • it's either hella cold out there, or your plug is fouled

  • It was the first start after the 2001 pipe, airbox, and re-build, still on the old jetting (way rich on the main and lean on the idle). Re-tuned now (168 main and 50 idle) and she runs sweet as a nut.

  • @banfordg

what did you need to do to make the 2001 pipe fit youre 94 bike?

    greetz

  • @banfordg but nuts arent sweet?

  • @banfordg Is it a 1994?

  • @Kawaski99 yes

  • @Mrturkeyhunter100 YAY I'M SMART! LOL XD

  • nice i got a 01 cr 125

  • thats a 1996 right ??

  • Nice bike! i just got a 1996 rm250 last night..

    im only 13!!!

  • your pretty good mechanic wise.. how did you learn how to work on bikes?

  • Just picked it up along the way. 2-strokes are fairly simple mechanically. With a bit of experience and thought they're easy to diagnose if you read the signs (although jetting them can be dark art sometimes..).

  • Its a '94!

  • Bugger! Yeh, you got it.. well done mate. What gave it away?

  • Yeah, I have a '93 RM125 and it looks a LOT like mine. I even have a helmet cam vid of it. You should check it out, and my channell too. Thanks =)

  • Nice one! Nice vid too. Nice clean running 93 you got there. The 94 desperately needs a re-jet, it's lean on the idle and way rich at WOT (installed a full 2001 Pro Circuit exaust system and Boyesen reeds. Just waiting for Jets and a needle...). Hopefully get some riding vids posted soon...

  • the only way i can tell that its a '94 is the radiator shrouds, even though they're all shiny.

if i didnt know better, i'd say it was a much newer bike. nice job!

  • Thanks! Believe it or not, they're 2000 shrouds though..

  • wow do i look like an idiot....

i just thought they were '94 shrouds because my buddy has a 1994 kx 250 and those shrouds look the exact same as the ones on his bike

  • I had a look at a 94 KX and you're right, they are fairly similar. Think the shrouds cover the full tank on the KX though (seemed to be the trend in the mid 90's, then most bikes reverted back to bolting the shrouds on to the front of the tank).

  • hmm...after having a better look it could only be a 2000 model?

  • Fraid not, you're getting further away bud...

  • 1997? looks like that same radiator shroud as my mates 97 rm250

  • Nup, it's not a 97. The '97 shrouds are similar but instead of coming to a point towards the front wheel, they curve at the front around the shape of the wheel.

  • its a 96

  • Nope, it's not a 96 either (having said that, there are some 96 parts on there)

  • Is it a 1999???

  • Nope, it aint a '99. There's one giveaway if you look closely, take a look at the length of the kick-start...

  • How 'bout a 2001?

  • 96-98; its all about the conventional forks

  • Close! but no cigar. RM's have been fitted with USD's for more than a decade now (can you believe that?), the last model with conventional forks was early '88.

  • The seat cover tells the story Its a 2000 model RM250 I have the same bike

  • Excellent! That's the answer I was looking for... but it's not the right one...

You're bang on with the seat though, only the 2000 had the black/grey stripe (nice bike by the way, I love the look and shape of the 2000 RM250/125).

  • The fork protection looks odd because they are usually designd to protect the sliders and not the tubes.Maybe they are off an older RM that used a conventional fork instead of inverted or upsidedown. If you ride with them protectors on and get roosted you will ding up the slider and it will start to eat your fork seals at an alarming rate!I would replace the protectors before I ride the bike

  • Well noticed, and a good point (just replaced the oil and dust seals at the weekend too) but strangely, that's the number board that came with the 2000 Polisport plastic kit. Will probably trim the board back and stick some lower guards on it before taking it out, having said that you don't need to worry about roost when you're in front... ;)

  • RE having said that you don't need to worry about roost when you're in front... ;)

I have almost the same bike! You gotta get out here and then we can see whos in front: LOL Im geared up for roost :)In fact I had a bowl of gravel for breakfast

  • LOL, nice channel by the way. Just watched you chainsawing your way up that hill... might stick those guards on after-all...
