  • R.I.P. Steve Jobs

    We will miss you dearly.

  • this is retro hehe, quicktime 6...,

  • high resolution !!!

  • What's the Music called from this music video?

  • Amen

  • "apple opens up the OS to be install in common PCs"

forget it completely. apple wont do such a bullshit, they wont let their diamond os to be installed on a crappy pc.

  • I'm sure i'll happen but it'll still be on High end PCs with 500GB HDDs, 8GB Ram, i7 CPU, ATI Radeon HD GPU etc. Besides, you can run Windows on a mac so fuck getting a crappy PC. Only good PC OEM was Voodoo and their dead as fuck. At least apple knows what they're doing, and not just trying to make things look good but also make them work "WELL" Windows would have been a great OS if ONLY it was so fucking Open, that is what killed Windows. Windows 7 is awesome though.

  • We have to remember that Macs now use pretty much the same hardware as a high end PC. To buy a PC with the same or very close hardware you'd be paying about the same. The other reason Apple won't release OS X to use on all hardware is that Apple isn't just a software company, they make MOST of their money on the hardware, which is why Windows will always cost more to buy than Mac OS, Apple already made money when you bought the Mac, MS doesn't sell computers, just the software for them.

  • @compactc9 Agree with you on some parts of your comment, but macs DON'T have the same hardware as high end pcs. Maybe the server macs, and mac pros do, to some extent, but that's all. You can't really compare an iMac or a Macbook pro to an alienware pc, for example, or even to a homebuilt pc. The advantage of the macs is not on the hardware, it's on the software.

  • @iHateDlls oh no its an apple fanboy

  • You should take the Apple Hardware as a kind of dongle for their superior software environments.

  • BTW, if this may be of interest-- according to Wikipedia, the system requirements for Mac OS 10.2 and Windows XP are roughly the same (ie., 233 MHz processor, c. 128 MB RAM)

  • oh wow 24 fps

  • haha xD

  • Oh wow, almost a DECADE AGO.

  • Nice clip!

  • Btw, when did you bought your pc to do this experiment?

At least your last 2 upgrades.

Sure xp introduced in 2001, but with current h/w, it possible to do these kind of stuff.

  • Emir you cannot afford a mac. I know you did a whole video on me telling me to "shut the fuck up". Your gateway "gaming" pc is like my leisure PC which I run Linux on! Do you think we are all fools?

  • It doesn't matter? Of course it matters. Quartz extreme has been updated a LOAD, and Quartz extreme from 4 gens ago compared to something MS only managed to do in this gen is a huge difference.

  • so stfu angry little Windows fagboy. Let me guess, Vista is better because it has games right? LAWL, good one, because developer support is a good way to justify something right? So I guess you'd say iPhone is superior to Windows Mobile cuz it has a lot more games, which are cheap and have PSP-quality graphics, right?

Get a life you fucking failure. Quit devoting your life to bash Apple stuff. Looking at your profile it seems like you care quite a bit about displaying your hatred of Apple.

  • You know I actually use Vista Ultimate 64-bit on a very high end quad core custom built gaming desktop, basically because I'm a gamer. Its just so amusing to get brainwashed toolbags like you so worked up about something so silly and trivial just by stating some facts. I swear, Apple fanboys are nowhere near as angry as the Windows fanboys..seriously it seems all the diehard Windows fanboys are all angry brainwashed little girls.

  • Once again, you did it years later after Apple had already been doing this for years, and you probly had newer more powerful hardware idiot. Try comparing it today in Leopard and in Vista with the same hardware. Oh yea, and you're wrong about Quartz extreme, its been updated in Tiger and also added 2D Quartz extreme.

No matter how much you want to try and argue it, the fact of the matter is the technology in OSX is still years ahead of Windows, as it was when it was introduced 7 years ago.

  • Lol what a tool...you're comparing imitators, to the ones who innovated and pioneered the technique? Not only that, but they were doing this in 2002, and you are just now doing it in Vista since 2007....pathetic dude.

  • Um it has been updated numerous times, don't YOU get it?

  • That was 6 years ago. Do you have any idea how technology has grown in those 6 years?

  • yeahhh, your comparing vista, a current gen OS to jaguar, one thats 4 generation old.

  • this is only a proof that Windows copies Mac, and badly. Take that, PC!

  • You cannot claim that Alpha channeling and video effects are Apple's property or that it invented them... Apple merely commercialised an OS with them earlier than Microsoft

  • I was so disappointed from Vista. i jump it over with a Mac.

Jaguar really moves professional. I can understand that some People don t like mac, no Games but for Work is it just great.

I am Designer and for me it works fine.

    happy Day :)

  • linux- good, mac os- good, windows- shit.

  • two details:

Linux for hybrid servers = excellent.

For personal computing = complete fail.

  • In what way is it fail?

I just like the way you can never really break it or have a lack of solutions to a problem, unless you sudo rm -rf /

I'm a Mac user. But I use OS X because it's BSD with a nice GUI.

  • Get an iLife :-)

  • What song is that musicvideo? :)

(the one playing mostly of course!)

    Help me out plz.

  • Soak up the Sun - Sheryl Crow

  • I mean why are you talking about how good linux and vista is over mac when this movie is suppose to show the features of Quartz Extreme. No wonder your post has -5 points.

  • Now -6

  • Get a life

  • if i get bootcamp do i have to install windows on it or is windows already on it

  • Of course you do. As if Apple would pre-install Windows?!

  • lol

  • i agree with the one elow me

i have a 500 MHz system running X with opetion composite enabled and got the beryl going perfectly fine. nice right?

think. bill gates is taking openSUSE to court over patents. now why the fuck cant the open source community take this to law? because we are nice, and keep our ideas FREE.

  • [shit, i pressed negitive and meant to push positive... my bad :/]

  • u now that QE is same fast as compiz even faster its in in the core of the os and it works even on 94mb of ram not 3g jaguar on 94mb ram on a ibook even can too that whats on the video!

  • and QE was out at year 2002 was beryl in year 2005 i think?

  • Yes to sergo40.

And this doesn't need 3GB of ram. It needs a GPU and little much else.

We shoulnd't bicker over which OSes are better than which others. They each have their merits. (except Vista of course, which is obviously the lousiest =p)

Unfortunately, I don't think eyecandy is one of Linux's strongpoints. Beryl and Compiz still have a long way to go in terms of performance and usefulness. QE on the other hand has already been put to good use in later releases of OS X.

  • I noticed that Mac OS is an good and stable system, probably because enjoy more hardware resources than PC. that's why only Vista, 5 years after, has 3d effects.

  • that was a very good presentation

  • that's whats vista doing today, 6 YEARS later xD

  • how do you make terminal and other windows transparent in OS X tiger

  • We have to admit it, Vista and its brand-new "Aero", even my beloved Ubuntu + Beryl 3d compositing system are really, really late in 2007.

5 years earlier, Apple already put this technology into OS X.

    I'm definitely considering switching :)

  • @gnarksombre that and it could run really fast on machines with just 128mb ram and older g3 processors!

whereas vista needs 10 times as much ram, and a much more powerful processor, yet is still slower.

i own windows machines, dos machines, mac os machines, and unix machines. i'm not biased with os's, even though i have more windows computers.

  • Can i point out that Vista had GPU-Based compositing in its notes since after XP was released (and then it blurs it afterwards to make the glass effect), and Compiz in linux has been out for AGES. Both have more features and have got more debugging time into them.

  • **cough cough** 2002 **cough cough**

**cough cough** old tech **cough cough**

way ahead of windows even back then

  • OS X is a far superior OS, but it doesn't have the 3rd party support it needs. It's like a dream car without support for spare tires. MS is a cheap car, but it has all the spare parts and cheap fuel you'll ever need. That's why MS is more succesful in general. OS X is better, but they lack support.

  • Both have more features? Hmmmmm... NO.

  • That's how it should be. I've been telling other people for years that it's inefficient if the CPU has to do more work than it can handle while the GPU is just sitting there doing nothing.
