In Pakistani Punjab especially they have a wide range of traditions and it is Pre Islamic and They are still carried in recent times .But it depends what type of Religious Belief you have. In Punjab people are much moderate so they have these types of Weddings. Also I think every nation should preserve some of their traditions in a moderate manner otherwise Culture less nations die their own death as they look towards others then.
