  • Dave Mello is underestimated here. just because he didn't go as far as everyone else post Op Ivy doesn't mean what he did for the band is of any less value than Freeman's or Michaels' or Armstrong's contribution. he could hold a fast punk rock tempo and hit it pretty hard and his technical skills were up to par. if anyone's gonna say shit, Jesse Michaels is 1/4th of operation Ivy.

  • @HAYDS510 Seconded! Still, nice to see Jesse's doing new stuff. Can't wait for the full-length.

  • @Marifuuu it's 1/3... matt freeman was also in operation ivy

  • Tim wrote some of the songs in opivy, Jesse wrote most of them, but Tim wrote some, so with that said, he's just as important, Hell, Dave Mello was just as important...

  • I got a mouth like a donkey chewing on straw

  • @badfish13 this will be the era where the people truth seek

  • Honestly, I just love Jesse Michaels and everything he does. I liked Common Rider just as much as Operation Ivy.

  • the guitar the guitar the guitar dont change it

  • punk? deAD? HMMMM. not sure. but this is more evidence

  • LSD 313!

  • @brandon44ab nice detroit shout out! lol.

  • Operation ivy gives me hope in one day believing in a heaven.. A heaven where I listen to operation ivy all day

  • THE PEOPLE NEED OPERATION IVY RIGHT FUCKING NOW!!!

  • Not only is awesome that Jesse is singing these songs again, but how fucking rad is it that mike park is on stage with him too!

  • I like how Jesse is like in his 40s now, but he still looks like kid in his mid-90s

  • ! I can't believe i missed this, I wish I was there so much!

  • @Marifuuu dont you mean Lint

  • an OPIV song only sounds good when Jesse sings it!

  • I agree to the argument going on, matt's more important than tim. but jesse's my favorite :) and yes, tim needs jesse, not the other way around.

  • i love how jesse just looks like a random guy that climbed up on stage

  • Man, this just made me soil myself, Love Jesse Michaels man!

  • Oh man they played this in SF when I saw them. Never thought I would see the day.

  • that looks like mike park playing guitar

  • I would completely let all brown loose in my pants if I saw this live

  • Tim is a piece of shit , Jesse is a Legend!!

  • fuck fucking yeah!!!

  • @Marifuuu jesse doesnt need tim at all if anything tim needs jesse

  • Is plea For Peace a Chain??

  • i would have shit my pants if i were there

  • damn wish i was there

  • To this argument before me, Freeman is definitly more important. His bass playing is unlike any other you'll hear, especially for punk bands. Armstrong on the other hand, doesn't stand out. I can tell just by listening to a song that Freeman is playing the bass, but not if Armstrong was playing guitar.

  • i actually seen these guys live in RIVERSIDE

    fucking blows your mind away

  • This is awesome. Did you film the whole set by chance?

  • bass guitar should be louder

  • yaa!!!

oh and did he say something about the king blues the band?

  • Hell yeah..keep on rocking guys!

  • Sweet, they actually do this live now?

At my show he did it acoustically.

  • Brilliant! Thanks for posting it.

  • Ehh, Tim Armstrong wasn't as important as Matt Freeman. One of the things that seperated Operation Ivy from other punk was the amazing bass lines. Anyone can replace Tim's guitar style, but not many can replicate Matt Freeman's upbeat, yet intense bass style.

  • he did have mad style..and an interesting sense of timing.

  • you cant replace his amazing lyrics or arrangeing and for the most part his guitar playing influenced a lot of the people that could replace him, so id say although freemans probably one of the greatest of all time tim is more important than him

  • Dude, if you've listened to rancid, most of the lyrics aren't that great. The guitar also is unremarkable. The bass, however, is always exceptional. I have heard some of his earlier lyrics that were good, but for the most part, he wasn't exceptional. Freeman is what made rancid and op ivy different than other punk bands musically. Jesse is what made it lyrically exceptional. Tim isn't a bad guitarist, its just hes not as important

  • they were INSANELY energetic. Especially this song.

  • @BraincageAZ truth

  • @BraincageAZ

I agree that Matt was a big part, but Tim wrote the fuckin' songs! haha So not quite as replacable as you make out.

  • @BraincageAZ but tim's is original. it's not about how good but who did it first.

  • @BraincageAZ And Jesse Michaels AMAZING lyrics

  • @BraincageAZ damn right.

  • holy fuck! i did not think this would ever happen

  • XD HOLY SHIT THIS IS AMAZING!
