i bought this game today, when i try to play it my computer says "unable to initialize direct3D, please ensure your that machine meets the minimum graphics acceleration specification and retry" does any one know how to fix this?
I prefer medieval 1, but m2tw has some strengths over it. better graphics, refined seiges (they were new in mtw). I only prefer the first over the second because of the nostalgia factor.
@geo23king It depends on what time period you like rome is ancient time period and medieval 2 is well medieval time period. I prefer Medieval time period.
Problem is with latest NVidia cards you get mouse problems in tactical battles, and with the latest ATI cards you get 2-3 minutes before the red loading bar starts to move to load the tactical/strategic map!
To this day, I've never played a game that truley captured the hopeless, bloody, "grim dark" medieval atmosphere as well as Medieval Total War did. It was damn near perfect in every way.
MTW is best! I always got the most time out of it than the newer TW games.. maybe because my computer slows down after 1 hour of M2TW or RTW gameplay XD
i know that they couldnt make 3d graphics back then. but rome is what got me liking the total war games so i like rome, m2 and empire. the older ones just didnt entertain me enough
I loved how much darker the 1st game seemed, whenever you heard that church bell ring you felt like you were in a dark european village surrounded by plauge and death, i don't really feel that Medieval 2 captured the gritty and dark feeling that the 1st game had.

Ultimately no game is truly better than the other. Every aspect helps not just only a single like only graphics, music, or gameplay. A game is truly great when it can cover all aspect as best as possible. It is only a matter of opinion not fact.whether a game is good or not, since people have different views. Until it universally agreed upon by all, the idea of which game is better is not a complte fact.
I personally do not care which total war game is better. I like of all them .

i'm still playing this game lol. and tho the intro clip shows a moving battle tower (where soldiers can get in to cross the castle platform/battlements), in the game, there isn't any =( thats the ONLY regret. the rest is 10/10 gameplay hehehe!

Sean Pertwee was really lucky he got the role of voice introduction, for the start of this really excellent PC series. I think this pre dates even the start of his movie career in Dog Soldiers.

This has to be one of the most epic game intros ever. I was a bit disappointed with Medieval 2 since even though it has great graphics it lacks the unique style of the original Medieval TW. I love especially the strategy map system where game pieces represent armies and you move them on a paper map and when you drop your army on an enemy province you hear that mighty BOOM sound. Too bad the sequel has that Civ IV style 3D map. Medieval 1 and 2 are both great games, but the first one is better.

Still has the best feeling to it. The atmosphere is perfect, you can listen to the music forever, read unit/building information and watch the illustrations for ever. All who has played it can see there has been a great lot of time put into it. Probably my favorite game.

Too bad the sequel has that Civ IV style 3D map. Medieval 1 and 2 are both great games, but the first one is better.

medieval 1 is very great but no one is c00l n rome total war barbarorum mod so nice game from europe 2 ndia how uge map and textured model like medieval 2 total war

Still has the best feeling to it. The atmosphere is perfect, you can listen to the music forever, read unit/building information and watch the illustrations for ever. All who has played it can see there has been a great lot of time put into it. Probably my favorite game.
