Jesus is called both κύριος and θεός in the NT both individually and in combination (John 20:28, Rev 1:8). The Yahweh of the OT is both κύριος and θεός (e.g., Septuagint Deut 6:4 et passim). It doesn't take much detective work to thus make the connection that Jesus = Yahweh. I guess these hypermonotheists could never do police work--no cases would ever be solved...
Acts 2:34-36, Apostle Peter quotes Psalm 110:1 which says "Yhvh says to my adon." And then he says "know with certainty that God has made him both lord and Messiah." The kind of lord that Jesus was made is obviously an adon and not Yhvh. Abraham was adon, David was adon, and many others. What sets Jesus apart from the rest is that he is 'Lord of lords.' It can't be proven that Jesus was ever called Yhvh in the New Testament.
@TheGenuineChristian Jesus is Ha Adon in Malachi 3:1...and only YHVH is Ha Adon in the OT. Abraham was never Ha Adon, nor David. Jesus is called "The Lord" in the NT, the EXACT SAME title the Father is called...and we all know what that title is the Greek Version of in the LXX, don't we?
>>>Jesus was ever called Yhvh in the New Testament.
What does God mean by calling him "Lord" in Hebrews 1:10?
@msm1876 I noticed you completely ignored what I said concerning Acts 2:34-36 and Psalm 110:1. Perhaps because Apostle Peter is on my side concerning what kind of lord Jesus is. =)
@TheGenuineChristian C'mon...you know your Greek...you know that poieo also means "declare..." don't you? Like in John 8:53? Peter was telling the Jews that God declared Jesus to be Lord and Christ. And if King David is referring to someone as HIS adon...who else but YHVH is the Adon of the Ruler of God's theocracy?
@msm1876 There is no way around it. He didn't quote Psalm 110:1 for no purpose. The purpose was to show that David's adon, not Yhvh, is now our adon because God declared it. Your reasoning skills need some improvement. =)
Peter told them this because he was expressing that Jesus was now enthroned on God's right hand...and that he had declared the man they crucified Lord and Christ.
And again...if they wished to express that Jesus was a lesser lord..call him "Ton Despotes." Don't call him the Greek replacement for the Tetragrammaton!
@msm1876 It is also used as “master” or “owner” as opposed to a slave or possession (as in Matthew 6:24; Luke 19:33). It is used as a term of respect, “sir,” to a husband (1st Peter 3:6), a father (Matthew 21:30), Paul and Silas (Acts 16:30), a government official (Matthew 27:63), the Emperor (Acts 25:26), and an angel (Acts 10:4). No reason to not also use it of Christ Jesus.
@TheGenuineChristian Yep, I just looked, and nearly all of those simply address those people as "Kurios" not "TON KURIOS." The only one that uses a definite article is Luke 19:33, where it uses the plural definite article, and it indicates that the owners are "Hoi Kuirioi autos" ie, the Lords OF the Colt.
None of these spots call these people "Ton Kurios." Sorry, it's a title used of God the Father...and Jesus Christ...ONLY.
You never stop amusing me with your Trinitarian thinking. =P
As my previous comment shows that others get called kurios in the NT and because of this Jesus isn't simply called 'lord' but 'the lord' to seperate him from the rest. We're talking about Greek texts here are we not? Kurios doesn't mean theos in Greek. Your attempts to connect kurios to Yhvh of the OT shows just how weak your theology and christiology is that you need to try and make a connection. It's really funny.
But again...the title "Ton Kurios" belongs to God the Father. And it's the Greek LXX equivalent of the Divine Name. Take it, leave it, whatever...it's just that the first three centuries of Christians saw Jesus as very much God and Lord.
>>>Your attempts to connect kurios to Yhvh of the OT shows just how weak your theology and christiology is...
So cocky for a guy who I ripped to pieces on my last video...
Not quite...what I'm saying is this: If Jesus was a creature, I just don't see him having a title that only God Almighty has...a title that was high falootin' enough to be used as a replacement for the Tetragrammaton...a title that, translated into Hebrew, yields a phrase used ONLY of YHVH in the Old Testament.
@TheGenuineChristian Mmmkay, you just completely ignored that I said that Kurios was NOT the equivalent of YHVH. I'm saying that He is called "THE Lord" means he is.
I'm gonna make one more video, not so much for your benefit, but so others can see just how hard headed and hard hearted you are about this.
@TheGenuineChristian Yes, that is what is being said. The later versions of the Septuagint replaced YHWH for kurios. The New Testament followed this tradition. The authors of the New Testament fully understood the meaning behind kurios and what it represented. You'll ignore this, because you must. like, Mike said it so perfectly, " just how hard headed and hard hearted you are about this."
@msm1876 Jesus is a Lesser Lord, his Father, God, is a Greater Lord-->1Ti 6:15 For at just the right time Christ will be revealed from heaven by the blessed and only almighty God, the King of all kings and Lord of all lords. 16 He alone can never die, and he lives in light so brilliant that no human can approach him. No human eye has ever seen him, nor ever will. All honor and power to him forever! Amen.
@JesusTheMonotheist You don't see the fact that Jesus has the EXACT SAME TITLE as his Father...one that ONLY his Father has...and is the Greek Equivalent of the Divine name...just a BIT strange?
@msm1876 Why is it -- just a BIT strange? Jesus is excluded from Deu 6:4; Mark 12:29, 32.
One God the Father who is the Lord is one. In all your arguments you never mention nor equate the Holy Spirit so for your doctrine to be constant all three persons of the trinity you have to prove all are equal in titles and names.
@JesusTheMonotheist Okay, let's take this all out for a walk, Cruzie. BTW, I'm really liking this "new you..." and I'm being quite sincere. You're respectful, and you actually attempt to interact with arguements.
Read any Manuscript version of Luke 1:9. What does Luke refer to God as the end of the verse?
NWT editors understood Greek *despotēs means "*Sovereign Lord" and "*Owner". See KIT compare:
Ac4:24"Upon hearing this they with one accord raised their voices to God and said:"*Sovereign Lord, you are the One who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and all the things in them."
Jude4"our only *OWNER and Lord, Jesus Christ": He is God our Sovereign Lord = Jn1:1-4;20:28; Col1:16-18;Heb1:8-12
The context of these passages declare: Jesus Christ "the Lord of all" is Jehovah God. Especially Rom 14:4-12, for the Father is not in view: the Son of God Jesus Christ is in view, and our Christian v1-2 "FAITH" in Him, the Christians v4 "own master". Note:
Jude 4"our ONLY Owner and Lord, Jesus Christ"; Heb12:2 "Jesus the author [Chief Agent] and finisher [Perfecter] of our faith" = is Jehovah God Rom14:4-12

@TheGenuineChristian Ok, so that's 1, 2, 3 of my arguments you completely ignored.
1) Malachi 3:1

Eh? You really that confident in that video of your's? Perhaps I will watch it and make a video response.

@msm1876 I think you've been reading the NWT too much. Here's two quick examples that show what kind of kurios Jesus is:
1) Ephesians 1:17 I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ.
a) Should this text read 'the God of our Yhvh'?
b) I thought Yhvh is 'God of gods' (Deut. 10:17)?
2) Revelation 19:16 And he has on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, ...LORD OF LORDS.
a) Should this text read 'Yhvh of Yhvhs'?
b) I thought there's only one Yhvh (Deut. 6:4)?

@JesusTheMonotheist AH! The old Cruzie's back. He gets backed into a corner, and he barfs up texts and stops interacting with the argument.
I repeat, in Greek, what is God's title in Luke 1:9?
msm1876 2 months ago
@msm1876 (Luke 1:9) You know and I know, SO, what's your new Revelation?
You tell me which Lord is Greater? the one to whom is delegated all authority or the One who administers his authority to his Subject Servant?

@msm1876 There are many other Kurios like Paul said that doesn't make them the one God nor Jesus. God is the head/Lord/owner of Jesus and all things.
1 Cor 3:23 and you are of Christ, and Christ ((is of)) God.
