Obviously, if you're a poor starving person who has never had the chance to educate yourself your result will be significantly lower than that of someone who has gone to school and had all the opportunities to learn without having to worry about things such as dying of starvation! Let's say person A scores 130 on the IQ test and person B scores 98 on an IQ exam but has far more knowledge of biology, astronomy, quantum physics, and chemistry than person A. Does having an IQ of 130 make person A smarter than B?

The other reason why there is some relation to job success is because people who are able to do puzzles, patterns etc. better are probably going to earn more who can't do those things as well, even though those things are not important.

For example if I gave high schoolers addition and multiplication problems, and asked them to solve it, the ones who finish them the fastest and most accurate would probably earn the most. But those questions aren't important nor do they test intellect

I feel bad, I couldn't understand the problem even after the answer was given.

It's a pattern problem, the top left image is to the top right image as the bottom left image is to "what".

That wasn't clear to me. I thought the four shapes had to be somehow assembled or rearranged to come up with one of the images at the bottom.

The speaker was not clear at all about how to derive the answer to this very simple test problem. I had to use Wiki to look up "Raven's Progressive Matrices".
