@sehkamp What kind of hedgehog is this? :) He looks so cute! I've wanted one for ages but I don't think my dog would take too well, and I don't want a purpose-bred one, maybe a rescue who can't be re-released into the wild or whatever.
@lmbarak The cat is smaller sized cat than normal. The hedgehog was a handful when I got him, and now that he's an adult he's two handfuls (cup your hands together, and that's how big of a ball he makes).
everyone who wants a hedgehog they sell them at breeders or rescuers and if u are commited and ready to buy one ,so just check for your state breeders in your area
Don't worry about the hedgehog, guys, inevitably the cat will end up having to avoid the little guy once he realizes how difficult it is to actually touch the thing.
And hedgehogs have little trouble adapting to being around household pets, so long as the owners are keeping an eye out just in case things get a little too tense.
The hedgehog is scared but isn't freaking out. He isn't in a ball which he would be if he felt truely threatened. The cat and hedghog were meeting for the first time so of course the hedgehog would be on guard.
@velvetkytten neither the hedgehog nor the cat have hurt each other. My cat is always curious when the hedgehog is out, but generally goes for a higher ledge to avoid getting walked into by the hedgehog. Regardless, I don't leave the hedgehog out without supervision (this includes before I got my cat).
@sehkamp I agree. Hedgies can obviously take care of themselves, and the cat's reflexes are quick enough that once the quills go up it'll back off, just like the video shows. Our cats are FASCINATED by our hedgies, but as long as everyone's supervised you shouldn't have any problems, and may even get a few laughs out of it.
@velvetkytten the hedgehog will straighten its spikes and will gently nudge whatever comes to pet it. The tips have no barbs and the material in which the spikes are is basically fingernail, only sharpened. It is nonpoisonous and I have not heard of any fatalities due to handing a hedgehog.
@DrPoon the owner probably didnt realize it was scared....and Milo and Niko had to meet eventually wtf do you expect? by now they are probably buddies
quiet, trolls. This is obviously a well-supervised introduction. You can tell by the human's shadow that they were close enough to separate the two should things start getting nasty. Cat is being curious, not aggressive. Not too sure on hedgie behavior but Milo's ear remain forward and he lies down while very gently pawing. This says he is curious about what's under the spikes, but he isnt trying to hurt the mysterious moving thing.
@lordkyle10 No other way to get them familiar with each other, than to let them interact.
It's stressful for the hedgehog, but as you can see from the description, as soon as Miko was used to the cat, he had no problem being pushy and scaring the shit out of the cat, who can do nothing but run away from the spiky-coated huffy ball that comes barreling at him at any given time.
shes not making the cat pet it on purpose u ideot, the cat is playing and the hedohog needs to know the cat is there or it will never get used to it...

Cats and hedgehogs always seem to have a strange relationship.
The cat doesn't care at all that the hedgehog is so close, it doesn't present an immediate threat and it's an interesting looking thing.
It'll keep touching the spines even when the hedgehog flinches.
The hedgehog is usually a little cautious but never becomes overly defensive.
Strange strange relationship :3
