all my energy is turned inward. which forces me even deeper into myself. and i sit and i'm just empty. i want to find a purpose to it all. fill myself with something.
The guy having issues getting rid of his money should look into the Zeitgeist Movement and the Venus Project, that way at least he wouldn't have to feel empty inside anymore.
I always find it hilarious when rich people say money isn't important to them. I would be much more impressed if a poor person said that. As if it really is that hard to give it away, just find a charity.
The point of the two characters in the doc, one a poor Cuban, and one a wealthy European, is that each have the same level of disenchantment with their lives. The anti-moral is that Money and McDonalds can't fill the void left by the dehumanization inherent in modern societies. If you want to understand the point of this video wiki "Anarcho-primitivism".
But what you do with air? Do you stay happy when you breathe day after day?
You can feel happy but it is not the rule.
You just feel alive.
Or not. You can feel miserable too.
Happiness is more related to let things go than with acumulate things or power.
And it is very hard to abandon the ego therefore it is hard to find true happiness because humans want to rule which brings power but not true happiness.
@pedalero I don't really agree on what you say. someday I'm really happy and feel alive, that when I got to be myself, train and do what I love to do. There is no money in that. There is no ego or greed in mankinds nature. We become what we learn to become. The invierment creats us and random events also. It creates different persons exetra. Bad inverments create crimes, not bad ppl in general. My point is, we are created to rule, buy, have greed. and not by some god, by the envirement
I don't think he really wants to lose his money as he knows that he needs it for living and probablyhe wont have a chance to get that rich again. but whatsoever the basic point is that it doesnt matter how much money you have or what kind of living standards you got it'll never make you happy
the new consumerism is designed to take your money much easier and quicker. the web, wireless devices and gaming, is an industry that provides nothing tangible and that nothing has a built in obsolescence. $2.50 for a 5 second sound bite of a song that will be bumped off the charts by the end of the week!?! as a ring tone?
You need money to live. Because if u dont u cant survive. THE world is A world built on money and untill the system in which they are imprisonent like rats, changes people will be dependent upon the money system. The only other way out is save as much as u can. get out move to a quiet country and live out in peace =]
the thing is to spend the less as you can and in this way beat the system. and pleasse stay in your conutry we dont wont you to be fooling any closer. thanks a lot.
"no one really "needs" money. That's just a synthetic need generated by years of brainwash"
While I would agree that the need is definitely augmented by nurture, I would say that it is based on the evolutionary rooted desire to rise through the ranks of male heirarchy in order to woo more females.
Giving it to chairity would still only boast your ego, and I think that is his ethical dilemma.
I just can't take the whole rethoric of the poor little rich kid who don't understand life. This little twit of Svante seems to enjoy living like a primate while not seeing the need of giving away his money to various charities across the world.
I guess he's not borthered by his millions after all...

Seriously. Anyone knows why he don't give away all his money to people who really needs it, if he don't even want it to begin with?
Surely, that would be the reasonable and responsible thing to do, rather than complaining at being rich?
