Thank you!!!Been looking for flea help for 2 years.Like you said, frontline dont work no more.Used for many years. Before that had powder that was excellent. That been gone. This is cheap and you are a blessing.May YHSHUA bless your finances forevermore. Diane, Luke 4:18 ministry.
@dgonthehill Thank you. I had to dig deep to buy that Frontline. It was like $46-65. I bought it every summer and then the last two summers it stopped working as if they put sugar water in it. I found this and I am in love because I keep the solution on hand. I'll spray her one time in 2 months and she will be fine. She's an indoor cat, but she goes out on my 2nd flr. balcony, so she gets itchy every now and then. No foaming at the mouth like the Frontline used to do to her.
I think using diluted organic apple cider vinegar is a better natural choice for cats because they lick themselves and I don't think any type of essential oil should be ingested by anyone, especially pets even in small amounts.
@TruthSmack I would say this should last about 2-3 weeks maybe even longer. Once I got in the routine like 3 times in say a few months, I didn't have to keep doing it any longer. I would spray their bedding down, places where they like to sleep and lay and the area around their food. I would lift up their bowl, spray (my cat bowls are by wooden cupboards), wait a minute to let the scent dissipate and then I would put the bowls back. My cat is a house cat only, but still got fleas.
@TruthSmack They don't get fleas any more because before I would have to wait to get the money up to buy the Frontline, but one 4 oz. mixture lasts years. Plus, it freshens up the home, too. If your cat goes out side, I would spray him once a week at first, for say two weeks and then try to stretch it out to avoid toxic overload.
Sorry you answered my question in the video about spraying the house. I also heard about eucalyptus oil. I purchased some for my mom for her arthiritis and it helped. But I heard its good for fleas to buying some online as I speak as well as lavender oil
Is this good for Shitzu dogs, I just moved into my sister house and Im watching her dogs. I had no idea they had fleas everywhere. There all in my room and bite me all day Its hard to sleep. Can I spray around the house.
@ookkluv Yes it is. Use the recipe for the spray in the video. Remember less is more. Lavender can make them sick, but in tiny doses it doesn't have a bad effect. Their systems are so more sensitive than ours. But it works and it sure beats out the even more toxic Frontline or Advantix.
Lavender oil will make you pet sick , You might not see any signs of the animal being sick But it is not recomended to use those type of oils . Always do your homework .
@VirtualHysteria68 Lavender is all natural and it is something a cat might encounter in the wild. I also use it sparingly. I weighed the pros and cons before using this method. I watch my kitties closely for any reaction and there has been none. But when I gave them the Frontline, they would start foaming at the mouth. Frontline and other flea repellents have harmful ingredients. One allegedly was linked to death. Therefore, I'm comfortable with this choice because it's the lesser of the evils.
@lilithehamster my baby went on to be with the lord. he was 16, almost 17 so he lived a good life. this was the best thing for him. With cats, everything has to be given in tiny, tiny, tiny amounts because there immune systems are weaker. So if you don't get anything else, always remember, dilute, dilute, dilute. But yes it works. It was better than Sergeant's that actually killed cats and frontline that mad him foam at the mouth, and didn't work.
I lost my ginger babe too who would've been 16 this year :(
but I know he's safe and happy in Heaven now.
Thanks for reminding me about the dilution. yes, I totally agree about the nasty chemicals & side-effects from Frontline and the likes. So long as you certify that your furry going back to his Creator had nothing to do with the lavender oil, I'll go along with this flea treatment. May I ask what your kitty died of..?
@lilithehamster honestly, I don't know. All I know is he was fine and loving life. Then, he ate some beef grilled fancy feast and refused to eat anymore. I hate to speculate because of the implications, but my other cat got sick too the same day. Like two months later, I tried beef again and she got sick again. But the funny thing is I gave it to her again and I mixed it with chicken fancy feast and put a drop of acv for digestion and she ate it just fine. so honestly, I don't know.
@amarige25 Thank you for your honesty, much appreciated. The worry with essential oils is that if the cat is adversely affected by it, he will not necessarily show obvious signs of illness for a while--depending on his constitution, but may eventually die of liver failure --as reported by most vets. For this reason, I'm cautious about using essential oils. What about infusing lavender dried (or fresh)flowers and using the infused water instead, would that be effective&safe too u think?
@lilithehamster i think in everything you must weigh the risks. For example, they put flouride in the water even though it's harmful. you drink the water because you need it, but you don't want the flouride that comes with it. Essential oils do have risk. But the amount I was using and the frequency, I strongly doubt had an effect on him. I really think he was just worn out from his digestive tract being under attack so long. I got him at 9 and he had problems prior to me adopting him.
@lilithehamster keep in mind, some cats have died from using sergeant's flea control, but it's on the shelves everyday. I know it had risks. I read up thoroughly and I consulted animal poison control center's website. So I was fine with it. If you are concerned, I wouldn't use it. But I think it's a lot less harmful than frontline and sergeants. You can try acv highly, highly diluted if you want something a little safer.
@lilithehamster i heard that infuser is much safer to use also. It just sounded too involved. You have to get a stone and everything. I might look at it later though. Thanks.
@VirtualHysteria68 Oh. I also consulted the Animal Poison Control Center before giving it to them. Also, my formula is well diluted. I don't apply it straight.
@MsHairGuru sure. some people put 2 or 3 drops mixed with a carrier oil on a bandana and tie it around the dogs neck. My friend's dog groomer did this often.
