Bourdain should stick to food. He rather un-ironically, fails to realize that in the kids in the 70's, who left their vanilla suburbs to hang out in the city and listen to the NY Dolls and The Ramones, etc were precisely the same kind of hipsters then, that he complains are forever altering his beloved neighborhoods today. If you ever really listen to someone prattle on about the early glory days of Punk Rock, it's almost always about the "scene" rarely about the music which wasn't very good.

@pilates68 I think his ribbing of "Hipsters" is very tongue-in-cheek, as someone pointed out on another NR video, most of his "fixers" are pretty hipster-esque, and even he must realize that Hipsters are also what allows the small indie places, that he loves, survive long enough to become fashionable. BTW when old punkers talk about the "scene" they usually mean the drugs, if you go back an listen to a lot of that stuff, it would be totally intolerable if you were completely sober.

Bourdain, I respect your views on food and enjoy your show and writing. But I do not agree with your ripping on some of my favorite rock bands. I will take Led Zeppelin, The Who, Jethro Tull over The Ramones and The New York Dolls by a mile. Some punk rock is okay, but most of it is useless noise.
