Nice Bell & Howell projector, built to last. You need a projector stand so you don't have to tilt the projector so much, makes it harder to acheive all round focus.
Does anyone know if there is a company or device that will transfer digital video into 8,16, or 35 mm film? I have looked all over google and I just keep finding the opposite process. Any ideas?
Like you said, there are companies that do the exact opposite of what you're looking for, but you could always ask them if they can transfer the digital material to film. You can also google Telecine. That's the type of machine that digitizes film. Who knows? It may also do the reverse. I've never needed to ask, but it couldn't hurt to give it a try. Hope this helps.
It looks as if it's been in the attic for at least 10 years.
I have done everything you have shown in the video, but I still have a question please. It the empty reel where the film will be rolling on to - suppose to be spinning hard? I am afraid to apply force, since I o not have an opportunity to turn the proejctor on.
Sorry to bother you, but I have a "Cirse Oregon" 8mm Film projector, but I cannot find any info on it. Have ever heard about it? Could you help me please?
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!! Your video was so very helpful and saved us a lot of time and trouble. We spent hours just trying to figure out how to thread the film and then found your You Tube. We are still having problems with the film breaking and having to splice it but at least the projector is working so it brought us a long way along in our quest to video the old film that would otherwise be lost. Many thanks...again and again.
Lol, that car model can be still bought in India as Brand New. The Brand Name is Ambasador made by Hindustan Motors (HM). They still wont change the design of Ambasador cars.
wow, from film to blu-ray, its funny to see how far we have come. My grand father owns a episode of Tom & Jerry (The cat and the mouse, not the really old one from the 20's) i don't know what the name of the episode is.
i just received a Bell & Howell Electric Eye camera from my grandfather, along with the projector and editing equipment could you tell me where i can find any information sights for this or even a manual for it or something. Its all in working order i just want to get it all working again so i can use it.
perfect. i just picked up a 5250 and this exact projector, mint condition, with no idea how to use them. this is the first video i find. thanks for your time and foresight, sir!
I go to estate sales and always buy every old film I can get my hands on. Better then reality TV. If you get a set covering several years, you can actually watch kids from childhood to college. A friend of mine knowing I had an interest in old films gave me a couple of foot wide reels of White Sands Missle Test Range & Rocket Instrument Test 16mm Film from the 1950's. He has never seen them and while I have a 16mm projector it is not big enough for those reels. Acquiring one is next project.
@sanmousa The camera and projector that I have don't have any sound recording capability. I think some 8mm films had a magnetic sound track but it's rare.
@hk1308 - In high school, I did a term paper about the different types of film people use to make movies, and it's true that some Super-8 films do have sound. Regular 8mm film does not (if I remember correctly).
@sanmousa 8mm have no sound. you must record it separately. develop your film, edit it and then you can send the film to a specialised company which adds the magnetic stripe on it. when the film comes back you can record sound to the film with your projector (if he has the record option)
Sound Super 8 and 8mm films exsist, but the projectors that play sound are much more expensive, it's a magnetic strip on the side. This however is only on store bought home movies and I believe only on Super 8(check if your projector can play both) . As for your camera it will not have any sound recording capabilities, you can still buy film for it but you'll be stuck hand developing or paying for processing which can be pricey.
Thanks for the upload. I have three of these Bell and Howell projectors. They are extremely well built machines - very well engineered and easy to use. I can recall in the late 70's and 80's watching home movies with that classic fan motor / ticking sound in the background for hours! You certainly have to be quick if the film jams to stop the machine before the film gets melted through by the lamp!
Enjoy your projector, it is easily one of the best 8mm projectors.
I was going to ask about the electrical plug, it looked like a 240 volt plug for a welder or something, but I see this is in England or somewhere there abouts. Nice vid, I like watching old homie movies of people and places. It's kinda like a window into another time.
I've recently bought this model but I haven't got a manual with it. My main concern is that the belt on the top (feed)spool pulls in the opposite direction to which the spool turns. Do I take the belt off while it's running or just leave it on?
Thanks! I borrowed a Bell and Howell projector from a friend so that I could copy my old movies to DVD but I had no clue how the film was loaded through the projector--until I found your video. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Brilliant ! Just been given one of these similar to yours, but lamp is missing and I know nothing about them. I intend to try and fix this, your video was great thanks.
Nice projector! too bad it's not an autoload though. I got a B&H 16mm projector (video of it on my channel), and it's got autoload. It's wonderful, all you do is stick the leader in the thing, and it threads the projector by itself! (But you gotta take it off autoload after you thread it LOL, or it won't play properly, I learned that the hard way, after causing some sprocket hole damage LOL)
These B&H projectors are built to withstand a nuclear blast.
I'm so glad that my Bell & Howell 346A projector has the auto load feature. That is just to rought and time comsuming! By the way there should be a nob or leaver to ajust the frame on the projector, the frame was a little off. Nice projector though!
The perforations on super 8 are different so I don't think you can use super 8
As for the bulb, I've never actually replaced it so I'm not sure - using a lower wattage bulb might make the picture darker (I don't even know how to get into the bit where the bulb is and I don't want to start unscrewing things because I'll just end up breaking it)
cool channel

And a blessing, it's manual load.
Many 8mm films have been shortened by autoloads.
Maybe You should consider a new take-up reel, before You junk Your fine old films... ;-)
