The handsome leading actor, Nicolas de Gunzburg (who is listed as Julian West in the film) was actually not an actor but a rich young heir who funded the film with his own money. Wonderful movie.
He eventually moved to New Jersey and went into the publishing business (Town & Country, Vogue, etc.). He passed away in '81; apparently his last words were, "Can someone help me on with my boots? I have to go now." De Gunzburg was still alive when I first saw this movie; if I'd known where he was I would have sent him a fan letter.
