  • I lovede this series when i was growing up !!!

  • i remember being a early teen when the series came out - abc should have the origional, i whis they would put it on utube, damn good show 8)

  • The National Film and Sound Archive in Canberra has the entire series on file (a quick search on their website brings it up) but you can only view it at the archive, they won't copy it for you unless you can prove you or a family member were directly involved in its production as an actor or whatever (my uncle was 'best boy' or 'key grip' maybe?;) So might have to go for a drive to Canberra and sit and watch it all day at the archive.

  • I reckon if the ABC did air the show again - it would have a cult following. Well me for sure! My kids would laugh at me.

  • The Soundtrack is available in ABC shops but there was a curt statement released in response to a review which asked about a DV from teh ABC restating that "Unfortunately this program will not be released on DVD." .. *shakes head*

Still given the royalties .. don't reckon there'd be much cash to be made out of a release I suppose. Sad but the way of things I guess ..

  • Turn it uuuuup, the bloody 80's were the best

  • try australian center for moving image (acmi) or national film & tv archive?

  • OMG, I ADORED this when it came out. Does anyone remember the second soundtrack album with the black cover? It had the song "Image Of An Angel" on it, that I have been trying to get for years. I wish the ABC would get their bums into gear and at least re-release the soundtracks.

Wow, talk about blast from the past!

  • Yes I used to watch the show every night when it was on... I think it was about 6.30 nightly on the ABC. I'm sure I have the album hidden away somewhere, must look.

  • i agree...was my teenage yrs. My sis has the album on vinyl.....planning on stealing it one day lol

  • Great 2 hear it again!

  • Love YouTube and love emjoi665 too for posting this amazing song!!! I really loved this song the most from the series. Ah ... to be back in 1984 again ... actually no, I wouldn't!!! Loved the music from that time but I was a flippant little git at the time, would much be living in 2009 and listening to the music from the 80s.

Emijoi665, thanks for posting this this song, really appreciate it!!!

  • Does anyone know anyone at the ABC Archives Dept? We could bribe them to flog the tapes and dub them onto You Tube. Get your thinking caps on kids!

  • My older Sister bought this Sountrack on Cassette back in '84. We used to watch the show. Has it ever been released on DVD?

  • No, it wont be as it was broadcast only. Unfortunately as it was a great series!

  • God damn I loved this show as a kid! I still have the cassettes. If only I had a cassette deck . .

  • I remember this series.

  • Someone must have it out somewhere in the shed...dust it off and put it on!!! The world will be a better place ;)

  • I agree totally with dvscorp!!

  • ...and I agree with both of you!

  • ...and i bet you'se are all Spy v Spy fans too..(like me)

  • Beats me how nobody in Australia has posted any of the original series on you tube yet. Someone, somewhere must have it on video-cassette! C'mon Australia!

  • The show came out before VHS was really popular (and affordable). So if people taped it, it would have been on beta. And I doubt many people would have kept their beta tapes for 15 years until capture devices were cheap enough :)

I wish the ABC would just re-air it again. Maybe we should start a petition! :)

  • I had the whole series on beta max until my step brother decided that he'd tape a cricket test series over it despite the big notes all over the tapes saying "DO NOT TAPE OVER". Families!

  • I had the whole series on VHS and lost tham all when I moved 2 years ago. VHS and beta were released the same year and I bought my first VHS in 1981 - wayyyy before Sweet and sour. I even had VHS tapes of countdown and prisoner from 1981 onwards :-) VHS tapes in 1981 were around $20 - equivalent to paying about $50 for a VHS tape now.

  • @GitarStu Nah VHS had been around and heavily in use well before 1984 which when Sweet and Sour started. So access to VHS wasn't the issue.

  • @dvscorp ... even the ABC don't seem to have copies, they have no plan to release the show... = (

  • @dvscorp Just looked it up...apparently the ABC have said it won't be released, as it was produced on a "broadcast-only" basis or something along those lines...bootlegs anyone?
