Would have loved to see a more wide-shot vid -- rather than extreme close-ups of Joe's facial pores. Nevertheless, of the greatest story songs every written.
Some of this sounds an awful like "The road goes on forever" or whatever its called. Songwriters have been sued for plagiarizing for their own songs. Ask John Fogerty.
I love this video and find myself watching it over again from time to time. I rather like the close up of Joe becuz I know the music but his expressions?...PRICELESS Wonderful job!
Agree, and i often do, but this was a one-cam handheld shoot, and for the most part it results in bad vids to be moving around without being able to pick up the target (guitar) . . . so i often rely on faces or back way off to full bands stuff (which i didn't do here). in my others in this series i was occasionally able to pick up some picking, but i also ruined the films for several songs in trying to do that. so this is my compromise if you will.
I love to watch picking like anyone but most of the technical playing is done by Joe's lead player so it is not appropriate to fixate on it when Joe's facial expressions help portray his feelings to the viewer. I feel more connected to the vocalist on a song like this than I do to the great instrumentation that is backing him up. For a hand held cam shoot you did superb. 5/5 Stars. THANK YOU for keeping the camera on Joe's face.
@milkriverfilm -- He must be, MRF. No one using Texas in their screen name could be that ignorant. Or perhaps he's just a child who doesn't know better.
another suggestion...capture the artist that is soloing during a song and don't make it a one man video when a group is playing....continue posting great vids!
I agree and most of my Ely footage is shot pretty close. I prefer to zoom back and forth for 'varition'...probably more of an annoyance than anything for the viewer.
Maybe it was shot as an Ely-artsy video!? I did like the final shot as he ended up on the end of the steps with his guitar in the air. Nice finale.
I heard him today on Prerrie Home Companion , Had to hear more ,wound up here.I enjoyed the whole damn thing.Very Good up front row ,Good work all the way around.Ham
Great video. Don't listen to the haters. :-)

This is not a criticism of this vid, but I wish more music vids would show more guitar work rather than faces.

C'mon man...this is what comes of a download society where no one reads liner notes or even knows who wrote what and who's covering who.
