Art Robinson: Public Schools have "mentally hanicapped American youth"

Regional school systems are dinosaurs they fail children emotionally, intellectually, and totally at the moral end. Public schools have become destructive zones where frustrated educated morons have authority over children who they relish in abusing.

I don't see the controversy. Public schools are abusive. Just search in news.google for "school abuse" or "school neglect", or just "public school", and you'll find nothing but negative stories about students being in danger. Art is right! Vote out DeFraudzio and his risky, big government schemes.

Why do we Americans have such a massive fear of "socialism"? It depends on WHAT is socialized and how it's done, not the fact that something is socialized. Extreme socialism AND laissez-faire are neither preferable.

@whoo689 And the saddest part is that SO MANY Americans will drop their potential support for a program or policy if some preferred candidate or government official says it's "socialist" or "marxist." Even if the policy DOES make sense and won't lead to totalitarianism, they STILL think it'll be bad automatically because it's "socialist." Even if a single-payer system WAS perfect (which it's far from), they'd STILL probably decry it all because it's "socialist".

@whoo689 It's kinda like how America's leaders kept saying we're "fighting for freedom" when we were doing the whole Cold War shebang, while at the SAME TIME we were actively supporting DICTATORS and MONARCHS all because they were "anticommunist." So many people got this wacky idea that there's NO SUCH THING as democratic socialism or communism, that communism CAN ONLY BE a dictatorship. But revolution oftentimes turns into dictatorship because the people who led it get power-hungry.

@whoo689 Very few revolutions in history have led to democratic governments, at least at first try. The French Revolution led to a fairly totalitarian government led first by Robespierre. Then they had Napoleon. The French republic came about many decades after that. The American revolution is not so much a revolution as simply a military victory against an invading army to fully secure our preset democratic sovereignty.

Besides, American taxes are SOME OF THE LOWEST in the world! Unless you live in New York City or some shit like that, I can assure you, your taxes aren't that high. I'm sure you remember the days when we had tax rates as high as 70 or 90%, Art? Now it's only about 1/3rd of that.

@whoo689 And how is it "stolen" when WE THE PEOPLE do, at least to some extent, get a say in how it's spent, esp. at the local level? If we don't like how the officials are spending it, we can throw them out. You can vote on local and state ballot initiatives to spend the money in different ways. There are lots of choices. It's only as "stolen" as you the people have allowed it to be.

Not everyone wins all the time with politics, and that's just a fact of life. Life ain't fair. Deal with it. Your guys won't always win, and you won't always get victories. But don't cry and bitch about the money they're spending on basic services like schools being "stolen." When YOU are spending it...

There was no income tax before 1913 and there still were communities paying for and educating children without federal or state help. Peter DeFazio is afraid to have an open debate with hiim since he knows that he would loose big time. Art is right about our current public "government" school system needing to be fixed. pro tip: I went through THE ENTIRE PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM in a small town called Prineville, Oregon. I'm currently studying to be a software engineer at The Oregon Institute of Technology, and on track to graduate next year.
