The elite send theyre kids to private schools and from these schools they pick the people who will run the government and make the laws, they are super rich to begin with, and get even more rich when they get into politics and pass laws to help theyre rich friends in big buisiness, then they get into big business and cycle to and from political positions. I've whittled it down to one simple question. Is coercion necessary? Lots of people will say, oh yes. Then I ask them why they think that. At that point the line goes dead. Research shows that American school children who, essentially do not go to urban schools, score as high or higher on international tests of ability as other top-scoring countries like Sweden. Poor students who lack the basics of everyday living make it seem like our system is a failure - when its actually very successful. America must accept that its education system is a reflection of free market economic system, one that perpetuates inequality of the classes.

Your next task will be to explain how or prove that countries like Sweden give the same level of educational training as private boarding schools such as Andover; as well as proving that non-urban American schools are on that level as well. But what is the solution? I listened to several talks of him and he only shows the problems. Now we all know that they ruined our potential, but does this make any difference?

Anyone who gets out of school, realizes that he wasted 12 years for nothing! And is broke, without any qualification that is relevant in the real word.

I just read Mr. Gatto's book "Underground History of American Education" and it was very eye-opening, almost frightening to read how our public schools came into being.They aren't interested in educating people,they just want to dumb down and indoctrinate kids to make them regimented and compliant to their corporate and government masters.

public schools are a joke i would know i just got out of one, they teach utter bullshit and when i called them out on it i got in LOTS of trouble,other than that i slept, talked to my friends, and just got into shenannigans w/ those said friends to fight boredom, most teachers NOT ALL, but most are completely brain dead and hate their jobs and adolescents, word to the wise don't torture your kids HOMESCHOOL THEM

This is the best Gatto presentation on the Web, as in two-and-a-half hours he covers just about everything. Read his mind-blowing book 'Underground History of Education'. He may be a 70 year-old a bon-viveur, but if his easy-going "lethargic" speaking style seems to get in the way of the information, that's not JG's fault - it suggests you're too addicted to the frenetic pace of modern junk media to absorb content that demands some measure of cogitation or introspection.
