Wonderful voice and a good breath control!Natural sound...it's beautiful, keep it this way!You may want to tell your pianist not to hit the keys like you're singing Lady Macbeth, though. He's killing you! This is Handel that volume is not only unncessary but also disturbing.Good luck to you!
That was amazing! I'm just learning this area myself and I have to say I'm so intimidated by these runs. How do you just spit them out so eloquently? I did "with verdure clad" for my college audition and I effed up one of the runs. Man they are just so hard!
anyway, brilliant. How old are you? I'm just going to college this year.
As an opera student and coluratura (and I mean that in the most sincere, un-snotty way possible) I rarely see delivery as awesome as this. I would just work on rounder vowels, like re-johce, versus re- joyeece.. but then, that's just my preference. You rock it out, nervous or not (I can barely tell). I'm really happy for you. I don't hear awesome young singers like this on youtube enough at all.
Don't change the natural sound of words just for the sake of round vowls.Plus, I'd say a run on sounds like "a" or "i" is far easier than on "o" let's say. I am a stundent too :D. Not a coloratura, but even as a dramatic I have my fair share of coloraturas...
Don't be!Sing naturally!Don't search a certain sound, know your own natural sound. You don't have to sound a certain way, you have to sound like yourself and enjoy singing. If you find your own voice, singing will come out... you won't have to think of anything but the music, not of how you sound, not where your voice should be placed or things like that. :D
Just listened to this for the first time today. I agree that it has been taken at quite a lick! I don't think it's the soloists fault, it seems the pianist started off incredibly quickly and eventually slowed down to accommodate her. but she has a fabulous voice.
Wondeful job on those runs. The only thing that I would mention is that even though the accompianist started fast, you shouldn't match his/her tmepo. IT does sound a bit rushed. One other thing is to start a little softer on your high notes and make them "bloom" or grow/expand a bit instead of just jumping into them. I'm a lyric soprano so it's a little easier for me to do it than you probably, but those are the only things I suggest. Good job though.
I have to join another's comment: That was some of the most insensitive piano playing I've ever heard. Not only was it too fast (and not in the Baroque style), but you were forced to compete for volume, and florid vocal music like this has to be sung with a light registration. I'd say that, given the circumstances, you did a fine job. And I'll be happy to be your accompanist in the future!
it's the pianist's/conductor's fault for starting it so fast - had it been me, I'd have been evil-eyeing him. Anyway, i thought you sang it really well :) i'm not a coloratura soprano though, just a baritone :( Great Work! :)
Maybe one "tip" I could give you? Dare to "enjoy" your own sound a bit more! I know this aria has to be sung fast, but sometimes it would have been even better if you would have "smeared" (??) the high notes a bit more. Let your sound fill the enire hall. it sounded a bit too much like you were in a hurry.
You have a great voice... It's a shame you were rushed !

Beautiful voice. Pianist was obviously trying to beat the 4 minute mile! I felt sorry for the soloist.

Point well taken... I'm just a bit too traditional for my own good.

BRAVA! What a great voice. You have a grand future ahead of you (if you work hard, obviously.)
I hope after the curtain went down, you beat up the accompanist.

Que potente voz, en sus arreglos lo quizo manifestar, hermosa figura y voz soprano. Es cierto, apresuró al pianista.
