  • You can either get a anti waterlock device put on this (would have to cut the tube) which will guarntee no water locking or get a pre filter that TK sell to reduce the chance. It will waterlock the way I have it if you submerge the car in water that goes over the front fog lamps. I suggest if you are going to go skinny dipping with the car to get a snorkel. I have driven through large puddles at full speed without issue but haven't put my car in water past the door seals.

  • because its so low can waterlocking of the engine occur .. or does k&n filters have a film of oil to prevent this?

  • i found it also when i installed mine to just completly move the battery out of the way

  • what is the k&n filter part number ?

can you give as the part number for that k&n filter plz

  • but dont you guys think that this CAI filter is too small ? !!

  • @Aqrab1 For a 4 cylinder non-turbo it is fine since it has much more airflow than the factory filter. If this car had a performance 8, 10,12 cylinder or turbocharged engine then a bigger filter would be recommended. You can fit a larger filter on this tube if you want but it will be a very tight fit behind the front bumper where there isn't a whole lot of space in the first place.

  • by putting a intake on the the car does that screw up the warranty for the car???

  • @SuperTitans74 You will have to ask that to your dealership were you get it serviced. Most dealerships don't void the engine warranty but there are some that may so you will have to ask a few places if you have a few around you. Not all will void that part of the warranty. Also depends on who installs it. Sometimes the dealership will insist that they install it to make sure it has been put on right.

  • @Mfury001 thank you very much.

  • @Mfury001 also keep old air box and parts and just swap it back if your going in for warranty work!

  • @SuperTitans74

There is a law that the ONLY way a dealer can void your warranty, is if they can prove that the modification is the cause of the vehicle malfunction. It doesn't matter who installs it (however its better to have someone who knows what they are doing).

You must make sure that when it is installed, that everything is done correctly, otherwise if the vehicle breaks in any way as a result of your poor instalation, the dealership will deny your warranty claim.

  • @SuperTitans74

I would suggest also keeping all the factory parts, so that you can replace them for the smog test, as well as for regularly scheduled maintainance.

  • @SuperTitans74 depends if its a lease or not, if it was a lease they would tell you it will becasuse your messing with the engine, and thats how mine is. i did it anyways because i realized how easy it was as compared to a turbo set up

  • Thank you so much for the video! installing right meow

  • I have no idea if this would fit the Optima. Better to contact turbokits and ask since your front end should be slightly different design and that tube may not fit down the front bumper area. That small tube is the engine breather tube. Gases in the engine pass through that tube to be burnt off to reduce emissions. The MAP(Forte's don't have a MAF) sensor for the Forte is in the throttle body so there is no need to relocate it.

  • hey i have kia optima 2011 2.4L 4 cylinder

and i like this video and i want to buy a K & N air intake

    i have a question

when u install the new pipe what is that small hose for ? and where is the MAF sensor is there one and u remove it or what ? waiting 4 replay

  • how much extra HP ???

  • @nolimitsoldier6 2.0L engine gets around 6-8HP the 2.4L about 8-10HP. It isn't really the extra horsepower that makes it worth getting though. It is where you gain the additional power, the low rpm gain really helps these small engines from bogging out during quick take offs. Plus the sound output is awesome. I have noticed increased fuel efficiency during my highways long travels when I set the cruise control and let it ride.

  • @Mfury001 ahh man thats great...i have a 1.6L engine :(...i would really love to have a CAI seeing how it delivers a awesome sound and helps fuel economy...then again....i think i would need a turbo charger in order to get less throttle lag lol

  • Yes, this is the Koup EX 2.0L 5 speed Manual

  • IS THIS 2.0L ?

  • There are a few people who have that type of setup and they go to the auto store and buy a T fitting to connect two small hoses to one fitting.

  • i have two pipe , tube or what ever they called it connected to my original air filter

and this turbokit pipe only have one hole for these two pipe ?

and the replacment pipe is only for one ?

    so the question is

where should i put the 2nd pipe there is no place to put it ??

have 2011 koup SX auto with fog light

  • can this be install on kia forte koup SX auto with fog light ?

  • @Aqrab1 Yes, all type of Fortes fit this CAI from TK

  • so how much HP will the turbo charger add to the Forte Koup and would this void the warranty?

  • @mfury001 thx

  • Thx.. Can u tell me how much the cold air intake is and where did u buy it

  • @Dimandheadz1 249 plus tax from (turbokits (.) com

  • Thx do u know how much the cai cost??? And where did u buy it

  • 2010 Kia Forte Koup EX model, 5 speed manual transmission

  • @Mfury001 nicee man...how much extra HP will you get from a CAI on a 1.6 engine Kia koup

  • Wat car did he just install the cai in???

  • i bet he's canadian... :P

  • You can fit a slightly larger filter but you would have to install it after installing the tube since it wouldn't fit the way I slid the tube and attached filter down between the radiator and frame. You can access that area by going under the car and removing the plastic cover. These 4 cylinders don't need a large filter like a larger engine due to less air intake need. They just need the air quickly which is what this filter does nicely due to less restriction.

  • its a small filter !

you can put a bigger that that

  • thanks

  • @blanknamehotmail The sensors are in the throttle body of the intake so no worry about external sensors like many vehicles have.

  • haha before i saw the end of the video i was going to say are you going to remove the old air filter housing and thats not the best looking install i have ever seen, other hoses should not be rubbing up against the c.a.i

  • Mine has two hoses going to the current intake, what did you do to that?

  • @joface01 Easy, I got a car that doesn't have two hoses. :)

You can located a splitter to join both hoses to the one inlet on the tube. Seen others do it that way.

  • is the check engine light up??

  • Did this void your warranty?

  • @ shaolen, did you put your intake you made on a forte koup also?? If so post a vid, and what parts did you use? I've got a 2010 koup sx and I really want an affordable intake

  • man their kit cost over 200 dollars. i got some piping from autozone and a filter for 70. it's just about the same thing

  • if this took you 10 minutes holy shit dude

  • @eadad It takes only 5 minutes after you have done it once. First time I had to see where it was going to fit and what needed to be removed. I didn't have any instructions at the time.

  • @Mfury001 take your koup to the track and post a quarter mile video

  • Rich u need your own show... You can install the one on the grand am lol.

  • You will also need a pliers that you seen used to take off the pressure clips holding that small tube.
