  • AWESOME thanks for the post.....one of the best movies ever made.

  • dynamite doesn't get old

  • amazing band and hes scottish wooohooo us scots can sing lol

  • amazing song and amazing band :-)

  • Greatest Concert Ever. Better than anything the Beatles, Dylan, Pink Floyd, Zeppelin, Nirvana, the Who, etc. Ever did. (I love all the bands I mentioned) This live performance is just tremendous.

  • You didn't even mention the band that landed the Mothership... And one of its members was with T.Heads on this very tour.

But yeah, great show. I saw it in NYC. Love the girls on this track!

  • one of my all time fav songs - love the bass line !

anyone know if Busta ever played on this track ?

  • Jep. thx. Jetzt bin ich wach! ;-))))))

  • TINA!

  • pure class and yes celticbabe,he's SCOTTISH :)

  • he sure is :-)

  • Scot by birth but american by education and style.

  • This guy is amazing!! He was always way ahead of everybody else from his era....his lyrics are amazing!!! Not just haggis that hails fae Scotland! :-p

  • awesome.

  • Best music film ever IMO.

    Top quality.

  • Where is today's equivalent to this? does the future follow the

    music of the past?

  • fucking stellar

  • This is my favourite from TALKING HEADS

the girl with the guitar looked a bit lost during

the dancing period of the song the other two

girls were brilliant both singing and dancing

DAVID BYRNE as usual at his best

    well done for posting

  • Cocaine

  • Well, I could go on and on but then again, the great dancers...this is why you have to have a producer so as the producer can profile all the qualities of the band.

  • By far, a variance.

  • i know not very much.. but i want a hand of a stranger me to touch... i need a unknown hand even if he does not understand.. the plan i hane planed when we went to the lonly sttrand we walk together and he barries me under the golden sand.. he walk back alone.. if you know you understand because there is for me that other end

  • tina moves very well for a pregeant women at the time

  • great!

  • Unbelievable hypnotic groove--without a single chord change. I absolutely wore out the VHS tape I had at this spot (and several others).

  • I like to play the original version by the Staple Singers and then this version. Both are awesome.

  • Actually, it's a Talking Heads original. Staple Singers did the cover.

  • I have to give my dad credit for introducing me to these guys.

Love David Burne (last name sp?)!

  • Byrne

  • Why does he never play this song? I think SMS was the only concert where they did play it...

  • i'm gonna see him at big chill next weeked, anyone know what to expect with his sets, does he doing many talking head tunes?

    p.s. always love a bongo

  • I've seen him twice here in NYC during this tour and it was song by song the same show, 5 months apart. He will play one Byrne/Eno song then a Talking Heads song and so on so forth until the last 4 songs which are TH songs. He had 3 different encores and the end is David in a pink tutu dancing with a group of people. Both epic show.

  • He does stuff off everything Brian Eno did with him and Talkibg Heads. It's great show, but for me I really don't like the dancers he has with him on this tour.

  • omg they are so siiiiick! I like them more now then when they were at their prime... I love you david!<3

  • what a classy outfit!!! live and sounds like they're in studio, tight polished everything you could want in live performances..just awesome.

  • Gives me goosebumps just watching it!

  • Fabulous. They make the stage seem more like a theater group's workshop than a concert. I suppose it is actually both! I love it.

  • What a wonderful description! I love it.

  • David Byrne has a great voice, really under rated.

Talking Heads made some great music and this is a classic concert

  • I agree....Timeless! Great tune !

  • one of the best songs... what a great structure to this song. and yes... tina is hot.

  • mr scruff played this the other night

    tune

  • Timeless! You would never think that this was filmed in 1983. Stop Making Sense is one of my favorite albums of all time, and I like A LOT of music. Too bad these people couldn't get along. I would love to see them now. David Byrne is still great though.

  • isnt he doing blues now? do you know?

  • He did some collaboration with Brian Eno lately, who helped produce some of TH's albums in the eighties. Eno also did work with David Bowie and helped promote Devo of all things. Eno has also produced a bunch of U2 albums like Joshua tree, but he is more electronic synthesizer type music, so I don't know about the blues thing.

  • awesome song

  • is this really live or has it been editted? It sounds amazing

  • It's live, and it's Memorex.

  • wow! takes me back to a time when music was fun but I liked the big suit best

  • Tina is hot, and a great bass player.

  • wheres Find a Job

  • meke.... takes me back to the ole daz... mad thanks for posting love it..

  • ty mr. byrne for educating me in music

  • cool down stop acting crazy

  • god help us, help us loose our minds!

these slippery people, help us understand.

  • What a groove

  • Does anyone realize how much I love speaking in tongues? Are you with me? Get up and dance then!

  • He's playing in my city on the 13th, next month... bought the tickets!:)

  • Ah, I'm jealous!

    Is your city Boston?

  • Sorry, on the 8th... no, Belgrade, Serbia.

  • sorry, on the 8th... no, it's Belgrade, Serbia.

  • 100 times better than 1 hundred stars...

  • I agree 100%! Best ever.

  • Greatest Rock film ever .....get it and impress your girl......

  • Yeah I agree. We watched it over & over in Okinawa when I was a Marine in a bar called Club GiGi. I noticed that regardless of where a guy was from, regardless of his color, they loved this concert. Pretty good trick.

  • I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who loves the Talking Heads. For a while it really did seem like that to me, especially when I was in High School. There was no one I knew who shared my love for this band. Everybody was into Limp Bizkit and shit, LOL! But who's listening to Limp Bizkit these days? LOL! Talking Heads got the last laugh on that one.

  • talking heads don't even know who the fuck limp bizkit is.

not tryin to burst your bubble, but they're too badass to care about bands that are featured as prominently as they are on TV

  • Well, I could care less about Limp Bizkit myself. I was just saying that back when I was in school I didn't know anyone who was in love with the Heads as much as I was. Seemed like everyone was just listening to that pop/rock garbage at that time.

They just don't make bands like the Talking Heads anymore.

  • Still Sounding good .. 2009. Perhaps Fav. T Heads song.

  • sounds just like the album recording.

  • Well, the album recording is a remastered version of this so that's not so strange, however they have added some effects and the guitar solo is more a bongo solo in the album version. I like the live version better.

  • One of the greatest bands of all time.

  • Been listening to this since the 80s, still love it, guess always will. Great band!!

  • damn fucking great.... talking heads rox

  • fantastis

  • David Byrne GENIUS

  • r u blind? they play it.

  • I meant on the neck.

  • Whole song without moving their hands up and down on the guitar. Brilliant.

  • Right, because every song has to involve some self-indulgent guitar wankary, right?

  • That'll teach me to have an opinion!

  • are u playing dumb, or are u realy this stupid?

  • You're right, the whole song is based on one chord (Am7) with some variations, indeed only moving his fingers not hand :) But we don't know however if your word "brilliant" was truly meant.

  • Talking heads have a lot of songs like that (crosseyed and painless for instance)

  • Bongos make everything better.

  • I disagree, He can sing amazingly weirdly great... Little like a funky Buddy Holly. Weirdly ad amazing great.

  • He can't sing but that makes the Band f*cking good

  • Ten Es think your there with a room full of chick. Z

Come round i then put it together that you eaten the lower part of your lip off. With a big hard on. Arm around a pillow.

On your fucking own. well thats more the girlfriend song but i have done it to both.

  • Is this from the 'Stop making sense' concert film?

  • Yes, it looks like it.

  • ××× ♥ -T∀LKING HE∀DS-♥ forever!×××

  • Great song

  • what kinda guitar is that?

  • It's an early Roland guitar synthesizer.

  • Bravo Byrne, bravo!

  • best band of the 80's

  • only band of the 80s (that didnt suck)

  • that's because their a 70's band....:D

  • Majestic!

  • INDEED!

  • majestic leaves me with nothing to say lol.....

  • Pretty much sums it up don't it!?!?!

  • fcuking beasting awesomeness of all ages of cool factors in mathematical equations who eat children and shit out music, yes, this is what its all about. I am absolutely talking in my own head.

  • pure awesome

  • To thedesiresymposium :

"stop making sense" was my first DVD, and if David care to brush it up it'll be my first BR. If this and the Waltz is bad music, -I love it. In my 8,5 feet collection of live DVD, these two are my refrences.

For some reason UT stopped a completly nice combination of Laurel/Hardy and this song. It was so nicely done, the timing was so close to perfect. Unfortunately, I didn't dl it before it was gone.

So, if U see something nice on UT, dl it. Maybe it's gone tomorrow!!

  • hell yeah david byrne is a fucking genius!

  • I never get tired of watching the whole show... God knows how many times I've seen it..... 10/10 *It has to be one of the best LIVE gigs ever xxxx

  • This, girlfriend is better and this must be the place is my favorites by them. so danceable

  • Those backup singers are amazing.

  • wow, never saw them live that way.

where are my old albums? on the attic?

  • Oh-Hot! A favouyrite that never gets old.

  • he iz proper in the zone!!.......woo-hoo!!

  • love the part at 2:35

  • Yeeeeeeeaaah! 5*****

  • Very good. Is there any other live version of this song? It looks like it wasn't performed very much...

  • idd one of the greatest performances!

  • This song would make James Brown get up and dance again.

  • I thought that was him i saw in my garden when i played this loudly this morning.

  • this one is one of my favorites from stop making sense

  • Totally agree.

  • mine too.

  • This is a great DVD.

    I love this song!

    Thanks for sharing.

  • it's good to see apprecitation for music that's not but should be more main stream.alot of bands buy thier way and that's not right.the band plus other musicians in here are great.not only are they kick ass musicians but how in the hell do they keep beat and thier mind on what they are doing with all the craziness dave is doing, running and girating, shaking all wild.that makes a big part of the show.his moves and emotions he shows is great.amazing all around.

  • where can i get a dvd of this gig?

  • It's called STOP MAKING SENSE. Any online store should have it.

  • excellent.the whole concept, presentation, music of the stop making sence album.the first time i saw it i loved it.i dont like all thier stuff but can put this on from start to finish and enjoy every song.definitly a album to have in the collection.vhs is all i had to watch.

  • Saw it first time when it came, in a cinama. Awesome!! The first DVD I ever baught 10 years ago. If Mr. Byrne decides to brush it up a little it will be the reason why I buy BlueRay (25'th aniversary this year...)

It's still one of my favorite concert DVD's. The whole concept is so f**** beautiful made. It's a feast for people who cares about both music and films. If U do it right U don't need too much flashy, exploding stuff.

  • That is a tune

  • those back up singers really add a lot to this song

  • their 2 of the 3 "Brides of Funkenstein" side group out of the P-funk camp

  • what a track, awsome.....nothing else

  • This is one of the best live performances I have ever heard. The Talking Heads kick ass!

  • Comment removed

  • They are by far the [best] band to have play live for you.

David Byrne is a musical genius, and those dance moves aren't bad, either!

  • I lve the begining with tha byrne styele on the guitar....! excelent

  • I was just thinking the same thing! It was awesome.

  • thanks, my english it's not very clear, so far. But i've just speak it at work.

    Excelent times and excelent song..!!

  • Do you know what my nick means in ENglish...?

Eighties fan.....we can say as well

    "eightiener"

  • God help us...help loose our minds!!!

    Fantastic!!!

  • backup vocals are great in every talking heads song

  • yup,if i remember correctly, these 2 were in Parliament Funkadelic..

  • An entire song on one chord - that's brilliant!

    When was this concert?

  • December 1983

  • Cooler than cool!!!

  • Wow! The good old days! When there was such an abundance of creativity and true musical talent that literally exploded the music industry!

  • Literally exploded

  • yeah yeah yeah yea yah ya ya ya ya you said it.

    kablooooey-kersplash-kerblosh-blam-boom

    face melty. chyeah.

  • I was born in 86, and nothing can compare to the creativity of the talking heads, simply impossible to match brynes kookiness.

  • My dogs and neighbors look at me funny when I dance to this song in my yard. I don't care.

  • My cats wonder what I'd doing too! But I don't care either-this song is infectious! I dare anyone to listen to it and not have a smile on their face and want to move!

  • One of the few times I've ever been spotted on a dancefloor was to TH stuff. People looked strange at me. Did I care??

Now I'm older, and I never dance with my body. But in my brain and heart...

  • you go!!!

  • nniiicccceeee

  • I'm glad I'm not the only one. Talent is bursting at the seams on this song.

  • grea great great

  • I love the part where David Byrne scats through the song during the instrumental interlude. I also love the Album Version of Slippery People where you can hear the clicking in the background music, like the turning of the dial.

  • THAT WAS FUCKING AWESOME, all you people out there trying to analize it and shit dont bother, thats the magic of music it can mean one thing to you and something else to me. Fuck me that was good
