Greatest Concert Ever. Better than anything the Beatles, Dylan, Pink Floyd, Zeppelin, Nirvana, the Who, etc. Ever did. (I love all the bands I mentioned) This live performance is just tremendous.
This guy is amazing!! He was always way ahead of everybody else from his era....his lyrics are amazing!!! Not just haggis that hails fae Scotland! :-p
Well, I could go on and on but then again, the great dancers...this is why you have to have a producer so as the producer can profile all the qualities of the band.
i know not very much.. but i want a hand of a stranger me to touch... i need a unknown hand even if he does not understand.. the plan i hane planed when we went to the lonly sttrand we walk together and he barries me under the golden sand.. he walk back alone.. if you know you understand because there is for me that other end
I've seen him twice here in NYC during this tour and it was song by song the same show, 5 months apart. He will play one Byrne/Eno song then a Talking Heads song and so on so forth until the last 4 songs which are TH songs. He had 3 different encores and the end is David in a pink tutu dancing with a group of people. Both epic show.
He does stuff off everything Brian Eno did with him and Talkibg Heads. It's great show, but for me I really don't like the dancers he has with him on this tour.
Timeless! You would never think that this was filmed in 1983. Stop Making Sense is one of my favorite albums of all time, and I like A LOT of music. Too bad these people couldn't get along. I would love to see them now. David Byrne is still great though.
He did some collaboration with Brian Eno lately, who helped produce some of TH's albums in the eighties. Eno also did work with David Bowie and helped promote Devo of all things. Eno has also produced a bunch of U2 albums like Joshua tree, but he is more electronic synthesizer type music, so I don't know about the blues thing.
Yeah I agree. We watched it over & over in Okinawa when I was a Marine in a bar called Club GiGi. I noticed that regardless of where a guy was from, regardless of his color, they loved this concert. Pretty good trick.
I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who loves the Talking Heads. For a while it really did seem like that to me, especially when I was in High School. There was no one I knew who shared my love for this band. Everybody was into Limp Bizkit and shit, LOL! But who's listening to Limp Bizkit these days? LOL! Talking Heads got the last laugh on that one.
Well, I could care less about Limp Bizkit myself. I was just saying that back when I was in school I didn't know anyone who was in love with the Heads as much as I was. Seemed like everyone was just listening to that pop/rock garbage at that time.
They just don't make bands like the Talking Heads anymore.
Well, the album recording is a remastered version of this so that's not so strange, however they have added some effects and the guitar solo is more a bongo solo in the album version. I like the live version better.
You're right, the whole song is based on one chord (Am7) with some variations, indeed only moving his fingers not hand :) But we don't know however if your word "brilliant" was truly meant.
fcuking beasting awesomeness of all ages of cool factors in mathematical equations who eat children and shit out music, yes, this is what its all about. I am absolutely talking in my own head.
"stop making sense" was my first DVD, and if David care to brush it up it'll be my first BR. If this and the Waltz is bad music, -I love it. In my 8,5 feet collection of live DVD, these two are my refrences.
For some reason UT stopped a completly nice combination of Laurel/Hardy and this song. It was so nicely done, the timing was so close to perfect. Unfortunately, I didn't dl it before it was gone.
So, if U see something nice on UT, dl it. Maybe it's gone tomorrow!!
it's good to see apprecitation for music that's not but should be more main stream.alot of bands buy thier way and that's not right.the band plus other musicians in here are great.not only are they kick ass musicians but how in the hell do they keep beat and thier mind on what they are doing with all the craziness dave is doing, running and girating, shaking all wild.that makes a big part of the show.his moves and emotions he shows is great.amazing all around.
excellent.the whole concept, presentation, music of the stop making sence album.the first time i saw it i loved it.i dont like all thier stuff but can put this on from start to finish and enjoy every song.definitly a album to have in the collection.vhs is all i had to watch.
Saw it first time when it came, in a cinama. Awesome!! The first DVD I ever baught 10 years ago. If Mr. Byrne decides to brush it up a little it will be the reason why I buy BlueRay (25'th aniversary this year...)
It's still one of my favorite concert DVD's. The whole concept is so f**** beautiful made. It's a feast for people who cares about both music and films. If U do it right U don't need too much flashy, exploding stuff.
My cats wonder what I'd doing too! But I don't care either-this song is infectious! I dare anyone to listen to it and not have a smile on their face and want to move!
