Could anybody tell me what a good cost-efficient case with some sort of PSU would be for a Micro ATX 9.6"x7.87" Motherboard? I seem to be having a hard time finding a case BIG enought to fit it. I also want to make sure that it's not too big for the cards screw holes to line up.
i wish someone told me to get a bigger case before i went with a case that can't house my graphics card. although having my computer half way open does provide some good air flow.
@rockyroyzhang well, they might not be for servers, however they are quite excessive when it comes down to size, unless you are making a supercomputer, im planning on building a gamingcomputer with an extended ATX motherboard, so i dont have a choise really, it wont fit in a mid tower, but for a normal person with average ATX motherboards its not needed.
@ljrox123 Obviously, but he's giving a warning to us. This includes the reason why newbies tend to use non-conducting thermal compounds, because you don't want to short it out.
3. This is where it gets a bit tricky. It totally depends on the outputs. Like how many air outputs and fans.
4. This is where it pays back. Big video cards are fun to work with. Also oftenly big vid cards have atleast 2 fans so the airflow aint that important on the GPU part.
This tutorials helped me alot a year ago when i didn't know anything about hardware, now one year later i don't need a computer shop anymore to repair my pc =D, and i'm able to build one myself.
Since this video is old, I feel the need to ask if the information about sizes of cases has changed over the years. Would it still be foolish to invest in a Full-size case?
Dont buy that motherbaord if youre buying an x6 processor. I recommend buying a mobo with 890fx or 890gx chipset. 790FX motherbaords are old they prob dont support x6 without updating the BIOS.
Just go to newegg dot com and browse the AMD motherbaords section to find out more about these things.
A full tower is the way to go. If you ever plan to upgrade your computer parts, then you want to have a extra room because the parts are only going to get bigger.
@13attleflame uATX is refering to micro ATX motherboards. It means the motherboard is smaller then the standard ATX motherboard.
If you are looking to build a custom PC you should check out (ElitePcBuilding . com) It covers all the steps in putting a computer together and its just amazing
Also, with the power craze comes the need for more space to provide the air flow or a kick ass cooling system! Now that's what I call bragging rights but beware the BOD! LOL
I have a buddy that just uses cardboard boxes and decks them out like crazy! Anyway, @noodlez1968 - Bucky made this tutorial two tears ago and, if you remember, that is basically towards the end of the mid tower craze era. Nowadays, it is very common for people to use full towers because of the expansion craze! Everyone wants the biggest, and fasted mother board so they can put as many expansion cards that they can get their hands on in their cases!
I forgot, there was another type of motherboard that is now phased out. It started with letter A.... It was an acronym... Anybody remember? Now all the motherboards are PCIs
@ScottyIbanez No, back in the day, there were two types of motherboards. One was PCI, and the other is the one I forgot and is currently phased out.... ASUS is just a brand name

for those newbies out there that are using this vid as reference please take note NEVER handle components ESPECIALLY the MB they are fragile.as a rule touching the circuits with your oily fingers is not cool.also he has no anti static mat or wristband theirs about 2,000 volts in a static charge you can feel it takes approx 30volts to brick(trash) a circuit on a board like that. i applaud you the newboston for giving the tutorial a shot but perhaps a bit more research nest time
it's now called a mid-tower or a full-tower. mid cases can carry almost anything now full-towers are still for servers or for show + they have a lot more air circulation for over clocking
Hey bucky bro i have a problem. I have an old but good tower and i am building a gaming pc soon. i just wanna know how to tell what kind of motherboard i have in my old tower so i can use it in my new one.. i want to buy a micro atx case but i dont know if my motherboard is micro atx..how do i find out?
@xbesteverx1 Wait... let me get this straight... you have an old tower... but your ganna buy a new case for it? so why even bother with the old tower then? and usually you can tell what kind of motherboard you have because its labeled if it doesn't have any labels at all then your ganna be clueless on what kind of motherboard it is...
I haven't got a built computer yet, but I've seen a lot of good feedback for the Thermaltake Tower (@ Best Buy for $80) so I'd recommend it for gaming comp. However this is coming from a guy that hasn't dabbled too much in computers but is giving a nice recommendation.

JCH34DR1PP3RCJ 4 weeks ago
Sorry, but i have to strongly disagree, buying a full tower case affords many benefits.
1. Easier to work inside.
2. Supports all type of form factors (motherboards)
3. Better airflow.
4. Supports large videocards (10.5 - 12.0)
crazykong1967 7 months ago
@crazykong1967 I correct you on this.
1. Sure, easier to work. True.
2. Yep.
3. This is where it gets a bit tricky. It totally depends on the outputs. Like how many air outputs and fans.
4. This is where it pays back. Big video cards are fun to work with. Also oftenly big vid cards have atleast 2 fans so the airflow aint that important on the GPU part.
