Interesting. The Stranger is presented as an existentialist novel expounding on the notion that man has no redemptive, affirming purpose. That there's nothing beyond man's physical existence.Mosley calls his book a sexestential novel where the main character learns through a series of bizzare sexual experiences that how man expends his physical energy into the world allows him to determine his own self worth and redemption. I'm anxious to get copies of The Stranger & The Myth of Sisypha.
I felt like I was going through the new Dante's Inferno... and I struggled up out of the darkness of the novel a changed and, hopefully, a wiser person... Thanks, Walter
...that was definitely one of the effects the book had on me. Mr.Mosley brought the reader to the depths of despair and by the end of the book, brought you back into the light... a must-read for any troubled soul! Thanks for sharing your comment sclaverus.
i love walter mosely's play with words....makes you fall in love with the english language and expressing your thoughts verbally or thru the pen or (computer) nowadays
i must agree with you noir...i fell in love with this strange, outrageously dark novel...it was a complete turn-around from his past works, all of which i also adore...but johnny fry spoke to me in volumes...so much so, i did a vid on it. like to see it...here it go (LOL!)...
I just finished reading this part of the book and so far, it's cool. Mosley is a genius.
