Though there's one thing I don't like about the book, I don't like that they made Griffin the Invisible Man a bad guy in the 2nd book, they changed it to Skinner because the name is owned by Universal.

Not dead, more a "suspended stasis or even reincarnated as himself", kinda like Captain Scarlet or perhaps Wolverine where "death" in mortal terms is the brain and body ceasing to function is the end, rather than "out of action" for an extended period of time. Death to them is like when one is knocked unconcious, certain facilities are stopped but can be reinstated, to which it may be said that they never really died.
