  • a great voice

  • @capnvancouver One of the best!!!

  • Fantastic song and one which Al Martino made his own! I'm learning this one myself.

  • Poor piano player needs a conductor so he doesn't have to play and conduct at the same time

  • amazing song ! nice one Al :-)

  • Good live version but i miss the background harmony on recording.

  • One of my favorites by the late Al Martino.

  • I never knew or cared that anyone else sang this song. To me its always been an Al Martino song. Every singer has there own songs. I collect Dean Martin and my Mother collected Al Martino till she passed away. We always respected each others choice. Both are great in there own ways! :) Same with Elvis and Frank.........

  • @JayH7745 Exactly Could not have said it better. The ELVIS is better than anyone freaks are comical. And oh yea Al Martino one of the ALL TIME GREATS!

  • @JayH7745 EXACTLY!!!

  • The voice, the voice, the voice, God almighty the voice can never be replaced.

  • why compare al martino to elvis??? that's stupid!!! they can give two different versions for one song, it's so simple: don't you understand??

  • Elvis put much more feeling into this song. "The ache is there, so deep inside me" - when Elvis sings it he really means it.

  • @elvisinmunich I agree 100%

  • this is far the best version ever! AL you are the king

  • @haatari Have u not heard Elvis sing this! Way more feeling! and he is the king!

Just my opinion.lol Have a great day!

  • @goldenoakretriever Al Martino and Glenn Campbell are not a patch on Elvis.

    watch?v=5p4R5bBgcJ0

  • @195477 ????????????

  • @goldenoakretriever What does ???????????? mean?

I was stateing that their versionsare not as good as Elvis's.

  • @195477 Oh I agree! I just didn't understand what you said, I've never heard that before.lol

    Cheers!

  • @195477 It's like comparing apples & potatoes..They're two different genres..ELVIS KING OF ROCK & ROLL..Al Martino a great ballad singer..Peace via Music VIVAMARIA!

  • @magcarril Apples and potatoes.

Both start in the ground, difference is one stays there one grows tall.Elvis was a FAR better ballad singer than Al Martino in my view andI think this song shows it.

    watch?v=5p4R5bBgcJ0

  • @195477 Absolutely! Very poetic your analogy! I think Elvis was a far better singer in everything than anyone else in the history or our times.."It's now or never" taken from "O Sole Mio" in Italian proves he had an operatic voice...HE'S THE KING, THE BEST! Peace via Music VIVA MARIA!

  • @magcarril Peace to you as well.Thank you.

  • @magcarril -You may think Elvis was, but he had his strengths and weaknesses. Al Martino had the hit.

  • @MrDavearama

Elvis had no weaknesses as an entertainer. Only strengths.

  • @matizzle32 Keep sipping the Kool Aid, hey I am an Elvis fan but just because he had a version of someone's hit didn't automatically make it better. Righteous Bros for instance owned "Unchained Melody".

  • @PrinceWilliammmmm Thank you,well said.

  • @haatari This is the best entertainer ever

    watch?v=5p4R5bBgcJ0

  • The record is better..

  • Just listened to Elvis's rendition----Al you're the best!!

  • I just love this song, and Al Martino does is soooo beautifully,, thanks for posting!

  • Well, my friend, I just want to thank you fo much for sharing all these perfomances with us - you will be plessed a thousend time for this. Thank you, thank you and thank you for what yhou did.

    Vidal in Hawaii

  • A griping performance

  • Elvis was good but Al Martino OWNED that song. What an incredible 70's orchestra back-up too; the Mantovani-like strings and one great electric bass. Bring that era back.

  • That voice!!

  • Semper Fi Mr. Martino Rest In Peace..A true war hero......

  • @blueticecho When was he in the Corps? I didn't know.Semper Fi,Jeff

  • @1949man If you go to the WW2 Memorial website, click on WWii Registry, then click on 'Search the Registry' and type his name in, you can read about what he did in the military. Very impressive!!

  • @his1940 Thanks for the info. ONE great guy!!Semper Fi!!

  • As a youngster this folk song sung by Al Martino used to Air on radio every morning when I was having breakfast with le famiglia. My Parents always used to twiddle the volume up as they adored him so much. Now I,m 43 and this song is embedded in my mind for life. I often whistle it as I work.

  • @jorologo .One of the best ever done!!!

  • Al, Elvis, I LOVE YOU.

    Grazie

  • ELVIS loved this guy !

  • Al Martino must be the most underrated crooner of the 20th Century.

  • In my humble opinion this is the best version by any singer of this particular song.

  • Al Martino the music world needs you today. Come back to earth.

  • Elvis and Glen Cambell's versions seem to be heartfelt, not just performances.

  • This is a nice video memory of Al Martino singing this lovely song, but I still believe the moist poignant video made is still that of the song's composer, Johnny Cymbal. To my knowledge, it is the last video of him singing this song - perhaps his masterpiece - less than a week before his tragic death of a heart attack in 1993.

Check it out if you haven't seen it before; it's over among the other videos to the right... His early and untimely death was truly a loss to the world of music...

  • We were so fortunate that we had a great voice to listen to all these years. RIP Mr. Martino.

  • @vilmad007 Al martino--one of the best there ever was..

  • @1949man BEST VOICE AND STAGE PRESENCE BAR NONE.

  • RIP, dear us, great, great voice and sensibility

  • beleive it or not, ELVIS does a great version of mary in the morning .

  • mr. Martino's version of this great song is way better than anyone else's. Hats of to Al Martino! He'll be remembered.

  • R.I.P. AL MARTINO....

I so remember this song back in the late '60s...the morning I took the 242nd St subway down to Whitehall St--for induction into the US Armey--never really knowing if this was it---

  • AL used to frequent my restaurant, Sam`s Saloon , Glenolden,PA. A gentle-man who never forgot where he came from. A voice straight from Heaven and now he`s home to sing with the Angels who were once his audience. THANKS AL , for "bringing us all the love your heart could hold". TILL WE MEET AGAIN. MAY GOD BLESS YOUR SOUL.

  • Thanks for sharing that story, debby. Al is my all time favorite singer, he will be missed.

  • @debby0829 A great,great singer............

  • Great lyrics and great string and above all, a great singer. He shall be missed.

  • I pray he finds his Spanish Eyes....

  • Sad..Sad. another great singer no longer with us. So few great singers are left.

Nothing but Noise...Noise out there now.

An Era that is passing faster than the speed of light... So depressing....

  • Rest in peace my friend.

  • Al Martino will be unforgetten!

    R.I.P.

  • Al you are the greatest! One of his best performance for sure. true talent he was. R.I.P.

  • Rest in peace, Al. This was one of my favorite records when I was growing up in the 80s. My mom had it and I played it often. Beautiful voice.

  • Did Al ever Marry? Did he leave any survivors?

    sons or daughters?

  • on yahoo, it said he left a wife, son and i believe a couple of daughters. wasn't he great!

  • A truly great rendition, so careful, so sweet and so precise.

  • R.I.P. Al

  • wonderful song does something to my heart when I hear this..

  • just found him the other day...A great talent.Forgot all about him over the years.

  • Hardly a "folk song" with the swelling string passages and melancholy-tainted melody!

  • Al ownes the right to claim this song as his signiture song of the 60's. He put his touch on 'Mary in the Morning' that can't be duplicated.

  • Pretty good but no one can beat Elvis version thats magic.

  • I know it's hard for some of you Elvis fans, but he didn't do a better job than everyone else on every song.

  • elvis sucks!!!

  • Ya mean...if I sang......Nothing's quite as pretty...as ~ S A N D Y in the Morning.......Ooooh, I see....YES, it does work! ... Great! ....I'm gonna use that next time I try to impress Sandra!

  • Any two syllable name works in this song.

  • Be sure and listen to Al's new recording "Trying to Find My Way" recorded at age 81. It's excellent.

  • Really nice song!

  • Lovely Man

  • Not to mention the fact that the man is a true Gentleman and STILL singing sooooo good, DAAAANG, my hat is off for the man! He is a great entertainer!

  • Nash ~ You have to remember all the dynamics change when you sing LIVE with a band/orchestra. It's almost always faster. That's too bad too but that's the way it is. Let me just say this, personally, I am an Elvis fan ~ Elvis is #1, period and pointblank, but that said, I can honestly say I think Al Martino owns this song "Mary In The Morning" it is a perfect vehicle for him.

  • Wow...the tempo feels rushed here...unlike the tempo on Al's album version which is much better. Still......a great, great song!

  • johnwaynefreak ~ I love The Duke too, pard! This clip was posted earlier but dropped. Thanks for picking up the ball again. You just scored the winning touchdown with Al Martino singing "Mary In The Morning" GREAT SONG & POST
