Lucky you, try to fly with an us airline, they treat you like shit, i was delayed 12 hours in a 3 hour flight. No water, no compensation. The damn crew just didnt give a shit about us and we where not allowed of the plane either.

We're trained to kneel down. Still, after all this time working in the airline I can fairly say it's not the passengers we have to worry about the most.. it's our own fellow crew. It's amazing.
This reminds me of once we were stuck in Shanghai Pudong in an [extremely hot] United 747 for like an hour or so. I don't exactly remember (it was a while ago) but I believe they couldn't tell whether a fuel valve was open or not. And they had shut off the packs while waiting.
Ha! the classic trick, look at the galley and look worried, so it seems you have to do something there! Works for me as well!And then in the galley you just go "My knees!" Stretch, call the Captain and beg him to do a nice PA! ;-)
They should make this an SOP in every service manual!

I have done i once for 7 minutes due to a problem with my seat. The captain eventually came to make me sit down and he told me thyt by kneeling down. Finnally they found a frist class seat for me instead of the busness class
something like upgrading a pax between classes after boarding is very unlikely, But , it has been done before. Due to reasons that the crew cant fix, they can either upgrade the pax to a biz or 1st for free or at an additional charge if the PAX is willing to pay the difference after they arrive. Reasons like "Technical issues with the seat, overweight pax sitting next to them or other unlikely reasons".

uh no i guess you have never flown SQ in your entire life huh? It does not matter where you sit on an SIA plane, you get treated all the same. professional and genuine service form the SQ girl. Does not matter if your in cattle class or in the suites. This one of the area in which SIA stands out from its competitors.
God, I thought only American passengers were rude and ignorant. I am a pilot for a US carrier and have often been in the position of having to explain to passengers, weather or air-traffic-control delays. Delays on the ground due to weather have lasted over three (3) hours for a flight that should have lasted under an hour. It's always baffled me why passengers yell at FAs for a situation that is beyond anyone's control. People really have no idea what goes into conducting a flight safely.
SQ is the best at customer satisfaction. If it were most other airlines, espically ones in the US, the flight attendant would pretend to not hear you.
SIA crews are trained to be patient and be a lending ear to all passengers..even the ground staff, those dat handle check-ins, boarding and arrival are equally trained like d crews..We are all out to understand and try to meet every passengers' needs within our means..
It was a 300 because Singapore Airlines Raffle class with those type of seates are only on the regional 777-300. It is also used to some flights in China and Bali. The 200 seates are different and can PTV can be seen
My friend was travelling on SIA when the plane was delayed by 5 hours. SIA got some buses for ALL (including coach) the passengers and brought them to a 5 Star hotel for a buffet lunch!

Nothing extraordinary here. Whilst Singapore airlines is very good, most of the people commenting on here seem to be North American, who unfortunately find good service to be a luxury, a luxury that you never experience in the US.
SIA just started a new service to Houston via Moscow, promotion fare about USD1k now on till April. More chances for Americans to check out the luxury onboard. I would have taken up this offer to Houston, if not for my work schedule.
That's because Americans only care about the cost of the fight and only care about service when something goes wrong. That's why the majority of US airlines don't really care about complaints from passengers because they're all equally bad and you end up having to fly with them anyway. I suppose it's the catch 22 situation really.
i feel truely sorry for the girls who has to wear the most restricted uniform in this physically demanding n confined work envirnoment, they must freeze their toes off in the galley thinking of a warm pair of socks, worst most is being constantly sold as an objects and visually expoilted unknowingly. i can see SQ is only good to look at but totally crap to work for......
You are actually quite right and many of my friends, classmates and colleagues left SQ after a few years of flying, to settle for a grounded job. For a 17-year young lady fresh from school with 'O' levels, the pay and allowance for flying can be up to 10x of a clerical job in their home country and see the world!
Visually exploited unknowingly? They know what they're signing up for when they join. SIA really helps someone gain loads of experience for their future career, especially if its hospitality-oriented. Its hard work, but its worth it. I know many who work in SIA and they actually enjoy their jobs despite the many regulations and requirements to fulfill. SIA, a great way to fly :)
excellent service which is unmatched!! i dont see this in any major airline. yes i agree, TG crew only treat caucasians nicer. SQ crew treat eveybody equally. its the FACT.
Was this is the Raffles Class or first class cabin? I usually fly SQ long haul and i usually get the spacebeds on the new big business class seats but i can't remember seeing any seats like this! I don't usually travel regional for my work all my trips are long haul...
No doubt they pick the prettiest girls from the region to be trained as FAs. The FA overweight rule is very strict and hence you will not see any big hips/shoulders "bulldozers" on the aisle. Of course the sweet, dainty, nubile, young and well-proportioned FAs will invoke 'protective' instincts of the hormone-charged male, to treat them kindly. Maybe get a phone number too...heh!
PS: on Emirates, which I fly mostly, most of the girls also knee down..although usually more of the Asian FAs, and some Europeans..but not all of them..and never..well..wont mention any nationality here, lol. And never have i seen a F/A from any major European airline doing this..not to mention airlines from the US. And no - I am NOT a macho, but I still appreciate it :)
5 stars again! Also for the Singapore Crew..very impressive..it is in these situations where excellent training pays off..I need to try them (I mean: Singapore Airline, lol) out, one day :)
Fly more SQ if possible, maybe the Barcelona-Milan route and get some phone numbers, as the FAs rest a few days at these 2 locations. They need a good tour guide to maybe show them around....heh! Good luck!

Thai airways flight attendant sometimes kneel down from my exsperience. SQ on the other hand always kneel down when speaking to you. Thats why Singapore airliens is the best. A true 5 star airlines

I haven't said that Thai Airways is the best than other airlines and there is nothing soooooo special about Thai Airways. TG is only a small airline. Is my face just turn red???? Each airline has its own identity and characterlistic. I have a great respect for that. I wouldn't dare to compare TG (4star) to SQ (5star)-the only best airline on earth. No other airlines are so perfect as SQ.
To TGAir, the truth is, SQ does have their fair share of complaints from clients. Example, broken luggage, stones and hair in food, flight delays due to technical problems, etc. The more often you take any airline, the higher chance of encountering some dissatisfaction. But overall, there should be more positive than negative experiences.
i find singapore airlines to be better then thai airways. Its my opinion. when i flew thai airways i found that the flight attendants tend to be nicer to the caucasian passengers then the minorities.
Agree with TGAir and bnllondon comments that a number of other Asian airline FAs do as well kneel down for a conversation with passengers. Especially so for a complaining old man with hearing issues. I must compliment Thai Airways for great food, service and knockout beautifully graceful FAs. Unfortunately, the TG aircrafts are usually quite old, maybe its just my luck.

God, I thought only American passengers were rude and ignorant. I am a pilot for a US carrier and have often been in the position of having to explain to passengers, weather or air-traffic-control delays. Delays on the ground due to weather have lasted over three (3) hours for a flight that should have lasted under an hour. It's always baffled me why passengers yell at FAs for a situation that is beyond anyone's control. People really have no idea what goes into conducting a flight safely.

SIA crews are trained to be patient and be a lending ear to all passengers..even the ground staff, those dat handle check-ins, boarding and arrival are equally trained like d crews..We are all out to understand and try to meet every passengers' needs within our means..

It was a 300 because Singapore Airlines Raffle class with those type of seates are only on the regional 777-300. It is also used to some flights in China and Bali. The 200 seates are different and can PTV can be seen

Yeap, SIA has always been tops for service.
My friend was travelling on SIA when the plane was delayed by 5 hours. SIA got some buses for ALL (including coach) the passengers and brought them to a 5 Star hotel for a buffet lunch!
Only SIA would do that really.

haha..alot of times we hear crew being slapped by pax n the ppl they are drunk from which the crew serve them. once outside the gate state police, the supervisor, the crew who got slapped n the passenger discuss n wrote reports. the next news we heard is the girl sue the pax n obviously she won! but for delay i dun noe..

Nothing extraordinary here. Whilst Singapore airlines is very good, most of the people commenting on here seem to be North American, who unfortunately find good service to be a luxury, a luxury that you never experience in the US.

SIA just started a new service to Houston via Moscow, promotion fare about USD1k now on till April. More chances for Americans to check out the luxury onboard. I would have taken up this offer to Houston, if not for my work schedule.

That's because Americans only care about the cost of the fight and only care about service when something goes wrong. That's why the majority of US airlines don't really care about complaints from passengers because they're all equally bad and you end up having to fly with them anyway. I suppose it's the catch 22 situation really.

You are actually quite right and many of my friends, classmates and colleagues left SQ after a few years of flying, to settle for a grounded job. For a 17-year young lady fresh from school with 'O' levels, the pay and allowance for flying can be up to 10x of a clerical job in their home country and see the world!

Visually exploited unknowingly? They know what they're signing up for when they join. SIA really helps someone gain loads of experience for their future career, especially if its hospitality-oriented. Its hard work, but its worth it. I know many who work in SIA and they actually enjoy their jobs despite the many regulations and requirements to fulfill. SIA, a great way to fly :)

Was this is the Raffles Class or first class cabin? I usually fly SQ long haul and i usually get the spacebeds on the new big business class seats but i can't remember seeing any seats like this! I don't usually travel regional for my work all my trips are long haul...

No doubt they pick the prettiest girls from the region to be trained as FAs. The FA overweight rule is very strict and hence you will not see any big hips/shoulders "bulldozers" on the aisle. Of course the sweet, dainty, nubile, young and well-proportioned FAs will invoke 'protective' instincts of the hormone-charged male, to treat them kindly. Maybe get a phone number too...heh!

PS: on Emirates, which I fly mostly, most of the girls also knee down..although usually more of the Asian FAs, and some Europeans..but not all of them..and never..well..wont mention any nationality here, lol. And never have i seen a F/A from any major European airline doing this..not to mention airlines from the US. And no - I am NOT a macho, but I still appreciate it :)

Honey, most Asian airlines do that too, NOT just sq. It's sort of Asian culture things. Kneeling down while talk to passengers is nothing new. TG is well known for politeness and has been practicing ages ago.......Anyway sq does a good job.

Thai airways flight attendant sometimes kneel down from my exsperience. SQ on the other hand always kneel down when speaking to you. Thats why Singapore airliens is the best. A true 5 star airlines

I haven't said that Thai Airways is the best than other airlines and there is nothing soooooo special about Thai Airways. TG is only a small airline. Is my face just turn red???? Each airline has its own identity and characterlistic. I have a great respect for that. I wouldn't dare to compare TG (4star) to SQ (5star)-the only best airline on earth. No other airlines are so perfect as SQ.

To TGAir, the truth is, SQ does have their fair share of complaints from clients. Example, broken luggage, stones and hair in food, flight delays due to technical problems, etc. The more often you take any airline, the higher chance of encountering some dissatisfaction. But overall, there should be more positive than negative experiences.

i find singapore airlines to be better then thai airways. Its my opinion. when i flew thai airways i found that the flight attendants tend to be nicer to the caucasian passengers then the minorities.

Agree with TGAir and bnllondon comments that a number of other Asian airline FAs do as well kneel down for a conversation with passengers. Especially so for a complaining old man with hearing issues. I must compliment Thai Airways for great food, service and knockout beautifully graceful FAs. Unfortunately, the TG aircrafts are usually quite old, maybe its just my luck.
