  • After she paid all his debts and got him that role in "From Here to Eternity", he divorced his wife and left his kids (Nancy and Frank Jr.) to marry Ava... got her pregnant, and started beating her (wife beating!)... whereupon she went to Mexico and got a Quickie Mexican Divorce AND Abortion... and left him. She HATED him!!!!

  • Ava sure loved to steal husbands...

  • I look at this love story a as a tale of Shakesperian diminsions,, if ever a modern day opera could be written about this love affair, I would love to have the modern day Benjamin Brittains or the latter day Gilbert and Sullivans on hand to lend their pencil craft to a truly tragi-comic or dramatic life on earth tragedy

  • Ava's beauty moves me to tears, to me she is the essence of natural beauty, it is just a pity she had to be discovered and fed into the Hollywood mincer, abortions, drinking, and an early death, when, deep down all she wanted was marriage to an ordinary guy, a family and happiness, RIP Ava.

  • would you believe her first husband was ..lil squirt..Mickey Rooney???

  • They were married

  • nice ...

  • Frank went crazy for this dame....but she ended up in Spain chasing bullfighters...by the time she came back to Hollywood, she was old, fat, used and abused....

  • @010bobby

I just realized Ava Gardner is Luka Magnotta's cousin. nice video.

  • @FJYardley I am pretty sure it was Prince Phillip> I have seen a pic before of Ava meeting Queen Elizabeth at about the same age. Probably was at same event.

  • The funeral car was, I belieive her hairdresser, please correct me if I'm wrong.

  • Agree with the previous dude, Sinatra has a song called something, why the Beatles? Nice photos though, however I felt sad for all the animals who were worn by miss Gardner. So darn oblivious.

  • @sweetiepillow THE SONG ISN´T SINATRA´S , IT´S THE BEATLES !!!

  • @silrosm lol no shit

  • @sailorpunkgirl Please,explain yourself !

    I don´t understand your modism .

And what another song you say called Something?

  • The irony is Sinatra recorded "Something". You could have used his version.

  • lol 12 seconds in I decided to stop and applaud: Great video my friend

  • put Frank on It

  • 1:32 et foto de depart le plus just//

1:40 en miroir marie josée gm p

    ke des fotos pareil

  • Her performance as Maxine Faulk in The Night of the Iguana (1964), was well reviewed, and she was nominated a BAFTA Award and a Golden Globe.

  • Beautiful ;)~~~~

  • Ava was just a poor little girl from the North Carolina Hills and got noticed and Frank was a poor little kid from NYC or Brooklyn not sure.... and he got noticed... But when they met they loved as madly as they fought... in Hollywood how could they stay married with everyone seeing them fight all the time like Liz and Richard... it bracks these passionate kind of people up being watched all the time... in private they would probably make uup as wildly as they fought... poor souls.

  • @bronteteri Frank was from Hoboken, NJ actuall.

  • @bronteteri Frank was born in Hoboken!

  • 1:39 could a woman be any many more glamorous or beautiful than she?? I doubt it!

  • Comment removed

  • Frank was an Uuuuuuuuuuuugly Man... dang

  • @SHERETTA123 He was a "skinny little guinea" but reportedly with "a lot in the right spot" true to his heritage which was why the women were so crazy about him.

  • fabulous face true star not like todays so called celebs and what can u say bout frank just the guvnor

  • BELIEVED HE loved her so much..... that any woman that came after her could never really touch him the way AVA WHIPPED DA BOOTY ON HIM.... sorry folks...just kidding..... when you love like that and it ends.... there is a part of you that will always belong to the ONE you loved..... btdt

  • They both had huge tempers and were wild. I think Frank was used to dealing with weak women and he was attracted to Ava's fiery attitude. She was the one woman who would fight him back. And also I'm pretty sure her beauty hypnotized him as well. Would he be so into her if she weren't so beautiful?

  • No wonder he flipped for a long time after they split

  • frank sinatra is an icon there will never be someone like him again rip

  • Ava Garner was born and raised about 40 miles from my home area. She was a basic small town southern girl who got what she wanted because of her good looks.

  • @greeneyefull ....moral of the story, don't look good cause ultimately it leads to jealousy

  • such a beautiful couple ....no???? Frank got everything in life....he knew what love means......have somebody to love and be loved....

  • amazing and thoughtgul video! i would take a great love like they had even if it didnt last...if the love is undying throughout the rest of our lives. its worth eveything!!

  • this made me think, that love is only for a privileged few...

  • @nayita85 indeed true love is only reserved for the few privileged

  • this is great, love it.,

  • I'm writing that sheet music now

  • She grew up dirt poor. She was beautiful and charming and an alcoholic.

  • arent we all

  • probably... staffnacht0607..

it's a commun mistake still no and it s really stupid? not?

    axelle wouters

  • he made a huge mistake leaving his first wife for her she just played with his head. That just goes to show the grass isn't greener on the other side.

  • @sfassnacht0607

Sounds like a lot of the women down here, I stay down where she was from, got a museum and everything.

  • some people had theorys that frank was bipolar, he tried to commit suicide a few times, possibly because of ava? what a real man "Where are you ?" describes his pain

  • Why would you use this version instead of Franks?

  • What a beautiful montage of one of the best Beatle songs AND one of the best love affairs of the century. Props!

  • Ava was beautiful and, according to a bio I just read of her, sex-crazed (meant as a compliment) and prone to furious fits of temper.

As far as I know, Frank is the only one of the two who got an Oscar, and he wasn't even known for being an actor.

The world will remember Frank, that thug with that voice. Ava, not so much.

  • @Jamie10014 i'm not sure what the point of your msg is.

  • Frank Sinatra's connection to the Kennedys discussed in great new bio (Ted Kennedy: The Early years) at amazon!

  • please make more of these love it

  • Those were the days my friend hollywood had some class!!!!!!!!

  • She looks like such a strong independent woman. Every woman should feel as confident as she looks. What a beauty. What a couple.

  • lol. She's alot different than she looks. Looks can be extremely deceiving, especially with celebrities. I just stopped reading my favoritie celebrities biographies so Ill stop being disappointed in what jerks they actually were.

  • There never was a woman like....Ava!

She was the only human able to put Frank on his knees.

  • I've read that frank Sinatra was so broken up over Ava Gardner that he tried to do away with himself by breathing in gas from a gas stove. Can anyone tell me if that is true or not ? God she was beautiful.

  • @mtl

Yes, It was true. It was before they got married. He did it two more times. He was broke, Nancy was slow in giving him a divorce, Metro was after Ava,ordering her to leave him....She could'n take it and left him. That"s whem he did it. Too much pressure,

  • VERY, VERY POWERFUL!!!

  • I LOVE IT

  • This song and version drives me crazy.

  • Wow. She was gorgeous!!!

  • you guys never mentioned mia farrow

  • Why the hell would mia be mentioned in the same pantheon as Ava!?!?!?!?

  • Beautiful song.

Thanks Judie, for sent it me.

  • All you guys

    Which the harder be I

cannot tell, to hide true love,

or make true love look well

  • His first wife was Nancy. He also has a daughter named Nancy. He left his first wife for Ava Gardner and married Ava.

  • Well we all crave the romantisism. They lived it to the hilt.

  • ava was married to frank he loved her till the day he died

  • @elmerschild Thaat's true. She left him on her thirties and never got married agina. She loved him, very much.

  • Ava was not his wife.....Nancy was

  • Ava was his wife, from 1951-1957. He was married to Nancy, but he met Ava and left her for Ava.

  • Nancy is his daughter!

  • I need a gorgious girl like Ava to

    unexpectedly surprise me!

  • shoulda put a sinatra song in.

  • Now .................. Together Again!

  • one of a kind beauty and charisma

  • It´s cool!

  • exellent video,really enjoyed that!!!!!!!!!!

  • Bellissima donna

  • Terrific song, terrific old Hollywood couple. Love it.

  • They were like SOME gay male couples. Monogamy was not possible for either of them.

  • Great idea. If Sinatra could see this video it would probably break his heart all over again.

  • Ava was really fall in love with Sinatra???

  • By all accounts she was in love with Sinatra. In Lee Server's book about Ava, it states that when Sinatra's name was mentioned her eyes would fill with tears. Also, she was known for popping in on Sinatra unexpectedly and surprising him.

  • May be.....

  • @hazel10987 Yes, popping in unexpectedly and surprising him, like when shen attempted to catch him in their Palm Springs home having an affair with Lana Turner.

  • @perla51 of course she was and not by all accounts as hazel says but by Avas account.

no one has ever questioned that and why would you?

and again hazel doesny know what she is talking about...Ava never poped in nor did Sinatra ever pop in on Ava.

    the reason?

because when they were not with each other they were with someone else...and btw..to play this song and not have Franks great recording of it(one of his best) shows how little the posted knows about Sinatra.

  • I'm transcribing this song

  • They have something soo romantic about them! So old fashion, It's nice!!

    Ava was a beauty!!

  • 에바가 아까워.

  • After Avas death, Frank Sinatra was found slumped in his room, crying and unable to speak. Gardner was not only the love of his life but also the inspiration for one of his most personal songs, "I'm a Fool to Want You". A lone black limousine parked behind the crowd of more than 500 mourners at Ava's funeral. No one exited the vehicle, but it was assumed that the anonymous mourner was indeed Frank Sinatra. A floral arrangement at Gardner's graveside simply read: "With My Love, Francis"

  • Wow....that is so deep, and beautifully tragic in that Hollywood way!

  • Frank paid for the funeral too. I'm sure Ava could have afforded it. It was just a final gesture, like buying her a drink.

  • @jaimdelg i read in i think it was book of him he moved on and he kept havin sex with other ladies i think he married every woman he love but the most woman was ava but in the last weeks b4 she died i think that they didnt talk

  • @jaimdelg Sinatra paid for all the hospital bills of Ava in her old age.

  • @jaimdelg There wasn´t Frank in the limo , but a couturier that thought he only could went in such a car to Ava´s funeral ( I forgot the name of the guy).

  • @the man in a limousine was a hair dresser from the area. You can read about it, in the Museum site. Ava garden Museum.

  • Elle etait beaucoup trop belle pour lui

  • That was Lovely~Very Loving and tasteful :o)

  • esta mulher é linda em todas as epocas

  • she was very into little runts wasn't she .. Mickey Rooney - Frank Sinatra.

  • i wouldnt say runts but yer!lol and other guys she went for were very skinny and small frank was so wearing heals cos he was 5ft7 if that and ava was 5ft6 so she was either kneeling or he had 'lifts' in his shoes!lol but yer she dated alot of men the same obviously had a 'type' so beautiful low she loved character over looks..

  • Artie Shaw was a big guy

  • she was the only woman he really loved...

  • i have 1,235,239.5 concerts with sinatra if you are interested email me.

  • ok.. i`m writing now. What happens next?

  • I have 100 concerts for Sinatra in audio and video;

    interested write me

  • i have 80 concerts from sinatra, interested write to me

  • How come? is on his twenties and Ava died in 1991, at the aage of 67.

  • i bet he wished this song was written when they met.

he thought it was a lennon/macartney song, but so what if it bt harrison, when he first heard it, he may probably thought of Ava.

  • No, he was thinking about Yoko Ono!

  • lol

  • She did and she said one of her most vivid memories is her awaking in the hospital room to find Frank at her bedside his knees pulled up to his head sobbing. He looked up as she stirred red-eyed in tears.

  • For fantastic reading about Ava Gardner read author/director Gilles Dagneau's volume entitled "Ava Gardner:The Rebel". It is filled with vintage photos; the writing only convinces me that he was absolutely fascinated by her. She was independently well off financially. Even named her dog Morgan - her financial advisor's name. She got Frank Sinatra the screen test for Maggio in "From Here To Eternity" -the rest is history. When he sings, I believe it is directly to her and only to her.

  • Ernest Hemingway called Ava "The most beautiful Animal in the world" She was, she really was.

  • I didn't know they were married. Why did divorced?

  • Thought you guys might like to know Luka Magnotta is related to Ava, he was born Eric Newman and he is Ava Gardners cousin. Luka even looks like her. I wish Hollywood was different then it is now.

  • Who the hell is Luka/Luke Magnotta? Anybody I shouldl know?

  • Frank and Ava were volatile personalities, lived hard, played hard. And Frank was very jealous. It's was a shame, I do believe this was the love of his life.

  • This is true, but it's bad enough when the MAN drinks...when both drink, it's a recipe for DISASTER!!! Mutual jealousy...as he had MANY ladies in the wings too...they both CHEATED! Her with the matador, and he with one of his many "ladies" of the night. DISASTER...it was the business they were in.

  • yeah,a bit like Burton and Taylor, couldnt live together and couldnt live without eachother, drink to blame as always, money and fame, egos tainted, its even like that now in hollywood,

  • Frank sings this song, too

  • very nice pics and that great song make the clip great

  • love the song

  • Two of the most beautiful and talented people in the world. Two of my many favs. Does anyone know? since I was a small child when my Dad and mom loved watching these two....did Ava break up Franks marriage? How long was Frank married to Ava?

  • According to biographer Lee Server, Ava's mood swings and suspicious mind, along with Frank never forgiving her for her fling in Spain with the matador Mario Cabre, and her two abortions, finally did them in...careers and long periods apart resulted in several breakups, making marital bliss impossible...I believe the love never died for Frank...Ava didn't really love anyone as much as Artie Shaw, and he didn't love her...In the end...She knew who loved her the most ~ Frank! TRAGIQUE!

  • Great. Sinatra had this song himself!

  • Excellent collection of photos, nicely put together with top notch George Harrison track.

  • Dynamite?She's an H-Bomb!

  • DYNAMITE

  • THEY WERE LOVELY TOGETHER

  • frank looks old...

  • i read about these two in an old magazine once-just a heartbreaking story-they really loved eachother, especially frank.

  • They were married for 7 years. But lived toghether for about 3 or 4 tempestous years.Sinatra did not wanted to sign their divorce. They had many come backs. He trully loved her. They really never part. When she died Sinatra cried for 03 days locked upin his room. Couldnt talk. So said one of his daughter. He send her a large flower arrangment saying: with all my love, Francis.(THats how she called him)They conld'nt live toghter but couldnt live separated.

  • I didn't realize it lasted 7 yrs, how! they were both so tempestuous. Didn't he also send her financial support on a regular basis throughout? How did Barbara feel about his 3 day cry? Didn't she die in early 1990's?

  • It lasted more then that Barbara put an end to it The meetings, there is They kept calling each other on regular bassis until her first stroke Ava was well off She never cared about other people's money She worked hard for 40 years, I guess Up to 1981 and them started accepting roles for Tv to 1986 She was a worldy known face and Tv wanted her She would say Im weathy, not stinking rich Sinatra never supported her On the contrary

  • Didn't mean to suggest she wanted his money. I read he sent her money thru the years and assumed she needed help. It didn't surprise me to read that since I assumed he never got over her and wld help her in any way. Glad to hear it's not true and that Ava did very well for herself. But wonder how she did so well, bec movie career wasn't much any more and not that much TV.

  • Ava was not a big spender & from 51 to 60 Metro paid her very high salaries. Tks to wise investments by her financial planner J S Morgan,AG Living Trust A. could live a confortable life without really having to act. after the wild years in Spain, she led a quite life in England. A. had a retirement check from Metro. she was a lovely person they say

  • she supported him in the lean years of their marriage. Sort of a loan that he never paid. She lived in a delux flat & had over a million in jwerls and antiques. After her 2 strokes her reserves went down a bit and she sold her memories - "My Story" published after her death. Sinatra sent her 50.000 & an equiped plane to take to USA.

Barbara couldnt take their frienship . She called a truck and sent away the magnificnet statue of Ava that had been over 20 years in Sinatras garden.

  • amazing!! Didn't realize he was so open about it and kept that kind of contact. I thought he had reconciled it all (to the extent he could). Removing the statue AIN't gonna fix it. WOW. I'd like to read her autobio. I love her, too bad she drank and smoked, I remember TV tribute to John Huston, she got up to speak and was QUITE tipsy.

  • Hi there irene2007! Can you please tell me how to get the kind of information you have about Ava Gardner? My Mom and Grandparents liked Elizabeth Taylor. I found Ava Gardner on my own, after watching her movie "Show Boat" five years ago. I bought some of her old movies like "The Killers", The Barefoot Contessa, Bhowani Junction, and a couple other movies. You sure have a lot of information about her.

  • Yep, Sintra's version of this song brings a whole new meaning to the depth of the words.

  • How long they've been together?

  • You need to change this and put in Sinatra's version of "Something" instead of this child-abandoning Lennon noise.

  • er actually this is george harrison. so shh yeah?

  • wow that coo Luka Magnotta is her son! OMG!

  • Yes thats true male model Luka Magnotta is her son, very rare fact.

  • Wow, I wonder if Frank Sinatra was thinking of Ava when he stated "Something" was the most beautiful love song ever written? They were a cute couple!

  • Great couple! The most beautiful woman in the world and world's best singer!

  • aww so cute. i ♥ them.
