This PPV was pretty good, but everything was easy to predict. Everyone new Swagger, Cena Edge and even Randy Orton was going to win. I was with a group of 7 people and all of them except for one, and they thought it would be Christian. If i look back at it now Christian returning would not be very good decision. I like it now that they are pushing Matt, but in a Yin-Yang way. Like he's going to become a semi top heel, but not V1! And Jeff because he'll feud with Edge for the World Title.
i think the the rumble kicked ass man, RVD back 1 nite only is immense and with orton winning him and pricless will go against batista and hhh and maybe mr.mcmahon

You made some interesting points. I enjoyed the show, but some of the matches were a little underwhelming. (I always get to see these shows for free because there's a bar at Kent that always shows them).

Randy Orton to me is as undeveloped, bland and boring as he has been since 2004 and quite frankly I can care less weather a WWE crowd cheers him or not, he is not all he's cracked up to be.
His character is cleary being more developed right now with the anger problem gimmick. I forget the name of what the WWE is claiming he has in the storyline.
However, it's getting interesting as they're adding to the generic "Psycho" gimmick by making it look as if Orton really doens't have control of himself.
Also, what you said doesn't make sense, by saying you CAN care less, means that you care.. If you had said you can't care les, THEN you wouldn't care.
Anyway, this psycho character Orton has been fitted out with as of late to me just seems like another pointless direction the writers wan't to take this lousy gimmick of his. Like when Orton started punting people in the head, it's another poor gimmical conception.
I just never saw the potential in Orton people that people like to claim he has.

I don't personally think Orton is amazing in the ring, I think he's average, but by getting over with the fans WWE will use him until he decides to leave, or the day he retires. I think if they can find a way to add a spin to the gimmick, it will work pretty well. But knowing the writers, it's just going to be another generic gimmick.
Exactly why I never liked Orton in the first place, he's just a generic heel with generic qualities that aren't distinguishable enough to generate excitement from the fans like Austin or the Rock did. The fact that he's getting cheered now only means his stick has finally been swallowed after years of ramming it down the fans throats, who lets face it aren't the brightest or the most vocal concerning the way WWE treats them.
Thank you! I agree. The WWE just doesn't give the fans what they really want to see. They're not giving the fans their absolute best much less putting any real effort into coming up with good matches and entertaining storylines. They have this whole "If it's good enough for kids, it's good enough for us" mentality seeing as how the WWE is primarily marketed towards children and teenyboppers now to the point that they have to dumb themselves down for those specific demographics.
At the end of the day, as long as fans still pay tickets to go to WWE shows and pay for ppv's, merchandise and what not, then Vince Mcmahon has all he needs to market his company.
The whole excitement of the Rumble is the possibility of a rising young star winning, or someone with momentum winning. They need to tease the young guys more.
Are you joking? That would be big. For Taker's career end, that would be the perfect way to go out. How boring would it be for him to never be beat at WrestleMania? Seriously, he needs to learn to job and push someone else. And if not Michaels a young, but already respectable star who needs the push. That'd make anyone big. Michaels needs to go out big, too. Someone is almost for certain retiring this year. And another reason for HBK vs Taker ending his career would be epic is their history.
Firstly, I never said Taker should never drop the streak, just not to a guy like HBK who is nearing the end of his career as much as Taker is.
Second, as it stands now there will never be an up and coming young talent that could legitemately gain a significant career that the fans would take seriously. HBK can go out wrestling some other bumb, Takers streak is strictly HANDS OFF till WWE is completely sure they have the right star, which I think will never happen.
I bet in the crowd on Smackdown this Friday you will see some people cheering Matt Hardy, even though he has turned heel and what he did to his brother was unprovoked and despicable. They will be the ones raising their hands above their heads and applauding, making sure that everybody sees them. As I see these creeps do this every show I watch now, I am confident there will be at least a few "look at me aren't I cool" contrarians on Friday. Just watch.

If you cheer a heel (for example, someone who plays the heel perfectly: Edge) you are disrespecting them. It is their job to make you hate them, and by cheering them you are saying "You can't do your job properly." Did you see Angle v Jarret in TNA? More people were cheering (loudly) for Angle than for Jarret. Now, Angle is a brilliant heel but seriously...I still haven't finished watching that PPV.
If it's any consolation, this crowd disease is everywhere now, as it's happening in the UK with football "fans" too. Man Utd "fans" make anti-England chants. Really.
So far the build up to wrestlemania looks uninteresting to say the least. The only exciting match on the card would be Taker/HBK if they actually book it and the main event I can care less about since I do not wish to see either HHH or John Cena in another Mania main event let alone against Orton who means nothing to me either.

i agree with your comment about the one guy getting the lasting long in the rumble push, was looking like it was morrison in the beginning but after he and miz got eliminated there was a long period of really no eliminations really, rarely see that in a rumble. Rey lasted a long time, but he really didn't neccessarily need that kind of push.
I agree mostly, there was definately too many people in at the end. My only big gripes are having RVD come in at #25 instead of #30, I thought MVP should have lasted a lot longer, and I thought Kendrick's elimination was complete shit.
Also, since it appears that they are turning MVP face, I think they should work on it for the next month or so, and then he's a possible candidate to win MITB. Of course, I could be wrong, but I'd like to see it. And, Taker vs HBK must happen. MUST.
Some ppl may think this is blasphomy, but do we need a MITB match at WM? Its become WWEs free good WM match with a free new star made which is strategically nice, but has gotten repetitive. I'd rather see a Hardy/EC tag match. Besides WM already has a solid identity wouldn't it be more worth while to put the MITB match on like SS since anything its supposed to be one of the "big four" fans obsess over and it doesn't have anything its known for.
imo u underrated each match by atleast half a *, but thats just me. I definetly thought it was worth the money, there was not a throwaway match on the card.. atleast to me it wasn't .
I'm in the minority on the Rumble itself. I enjoyed the infrequent eliminations. The story being all the young guys watching past Rumbles and developing a strategy.
The Morrison/JTG spot was cool as well as some of the Rey "survival" spots. Morrison should have lasted a bit longer and been given one BIG elimination. Orton should have eliminated both Taker and Big Show on his own.
The spot where Orton RKO'd Goldust and then encouraged Cody to eliminate him was good story telling.
i thought it was really stupid for taker to have to sell for hacksaws offense, the royal rumble was fun, though at the end there were way too many people in the ring, even after show came in

I either think that Randy Orton will choose to challenge for the WWE Championship, leaving Cena to defend against DiBiase or Shawn Michaels. I can also see the possibility of a rematch for the WWE belt between Jeff And Edge at No Way Out, with matt interfering only to be subdued by Christian, with Jeff regaining the WWE and the proposed TLC match at Wrestlemania.
hey good review, but i think cena-orton will be at mania. Cuz there haven't been ending match for their fued. Summerslam; cena won, Unforgiven; Orton won via DQ, No mercy-never happened. No way Out; Cena won via DQ. They can work it in, there's a month and a half til Mania. Plus they throw in Saturday night main event.
one more thing..i love that people still held out that glimmer of hope that Christian was going to appear and win the royal rumble....i get a Bret/Owen hart + high spots feeling with this Matt/Jeff direction.

I'm glad to see that someone is acknowledging the Shawn and JBL story. I think it's top quailty. And the two guys are really good actors, as I can't imagine pulling of this storyline with anyone else. The rumble was very good and a good review aswell.

I bet in the crowd on Smackdown this Friday you will see some people cheering Matt Hardy, even though he has turned heel and what he did to his brother was unprovoked and despicable. They will be the ones raising their hands above their heads and applauding, making sure that everybody sees them. As I see these creeps do this every show I watch now, I am confident there will be at least a few "look at me aren't I cool" contrarians on Friday. Just watch.

If you cheer a heel (for example, someone who plays the heel perfectly: Edge) you are disrespecting them. It is their job to make you hate them, and by cheering them you are saying "You can't do your job properly." This is especially the case of Randy Orton recently, who is trying as hard as he can to be a dick heel, and yet people cheer him? If i was Orton i'd be incredibly frustrated.
That is just how i see it though.

Did you see Angle v Jarret in TNA? More people were cheering (loudly) for Angle than for Jarret. Now, Angle is a brilliant heel but seriously...I still haven't finished watching that PPV.

So far the build up to wrestlemania looks uninteresting to say the least. The only exciting match on the card would be Taker/HBK if they actually book it and the main event I can care less about since I do not wish to see either HHH or John Cena in another Mania main event let alone against Orton who means nothing to me either.

i agree with your comment about the one guy getting the lasting long in the rumble push, was looking like it was morrison in the beginning but after he and miz got eliminated there was a long period of really no eliminations really, rarely see that in a rumble. Rey lasted a long time, but he really didn't neccessarily need that kind of push.

I agree mostly, there was definately too many people in at the end. My only big gripes are having RVD come in at #25 instead of #30, I thought MVP should have lasted a lot longer, and I thought Kendrick's elimination was complete shit.
Also, since it appears that they are turning MVP face, I think they should work on it for the next month or so, and then he's a possible candidate to win MITB. Of course, I could be wrong, but I'd like to see it. And, Taker vs HBK must happen. MUST.

Some ppl may think this is blasphomy, but do we need a MITB match at WM? Its become WWEs free good WM match with a free new star made which is strategically nice, but has gotten repetitive. I'd rather see a Hardy/EC tag match. Besides WM already has a solid identity wouldn't it be more worth while to put the MITB match on like SS since anything its supposed to be one of the "big four" fans obsess over and it doesn't have anything its known for.

I'm in the minority on the Rumble itself. I enjoyed the infrequent eliminations. The story being all the young guys watching past Rumbles and developing a strategy.
The Morrison/JTG spot was cool as well as some of the Rey "survival" spots. Morrison should have lasted a bit longer and been given one BIG elimination. Orton should have eliminated both Taker and Big Show on his own.
The spot where Orton RKO'd Goldust and then encouraged Cody to eliminate him was good story telling.

yeah i like this, not sure about triple h vs. edge tbh, triple h i just don't think will get the chance again straight away. I either think that Randy Orton will choose to challenge for the WWE Championship, leaving Cena to defend against DiBiase or Shawn Michaels. I can also see the possibility of a rematch for the WWE belt between Jeff And Edge at No Way Out, with matt interfering only to be subdued by Christian, with Jeff regaining the WWE and the proposed TLC match at Wrestlemania.

hey good review, but i think cena-orton will be at mania. Cuz there haven't been ending match for their fued. Summerslam; cena won, Unforgiven; Orton won via DQ, No mercy-never happened. No way Out; Cena won via DQ. They can work it in, there's a month and a half til Mania. Plus they throw in Saturday night main event.
